With team ninja and the new gameplay elements, this game will definitely be different. Even though I'm a hardcore metroid fan, I'm gonna wait for the review first.
I'm quite ambivalent about the metroid franchise. I liked the old ones and Prime was good, but I'm mainly interested in this because Team Ninja are developing. Ninja Gaiden Black = win/all
@FullAssassin...are you serious??? The Metroid universe was great in the first person, but I can tell you that all true Metroid fans know that a lot was sacrificed for the first person view. As great as the prime games were, none of them were better than Super Metroid and this looks like the true sequel to that fabled game, a game that was so great, it was the sole inspiration for the fantastic Castlevania SotN, likewise, there hasn't been a single Castlevania since that game that has measured up tooSotN. If you think Metroid games should be measured by the the FPS prime series, then you are using the wrong benchmark to judge the series. I know all true Metroid fans would agree with me on that one.
Ive Played Metroid Prime 3 and loved it except for the backtracking. When i heard that a new one would be added to the series i thought it would also be awesome but i think its a total let down and has slightly backtracked and has become less intense to play. The fact that its not FPS like Metroid Prime 3 makes it even worse is what i think. According to what i saw in this video you cant even move while zooming in to First Person View.. So yeah this game is not gonna make any kind of positive impact..
This is what I see this game becoming. A more cinematic and dramatic(sometimes corny.) story. Somewhat shallow gameplay with little new stuff other than being able to walk in three dimensions in a third person perspective. And a lot less of puzzles and the requirement to think.
Wow. This looks surprisingly good. The only metroid game I've played was metroid prime 3 and I had mixed reactions with that. There were times when I thought it was awesome, but the amount of annoying backtracking ruined the game for me. I hope this game has less backtracking. This video makes this game look freaking amazing and I'm definitely keeping an eye on this now.
I usually don't like to comment on this stuff, but I am a fan of the styling of the Metroid series, letting Japanese game developers get their hands back on this title seems to have ruined everything that made the series great, way to go Nintendo.
What a treat - finally even metroid looks just as stereotyped and pretentious-dramatic as your average type of entertainment aimed at common audiences. Now we have breasts, emotion and explosions. We should feel lucky.
Thank goodness they listened; as good as the other Metroids looked, I tried the first Metroid Prime and despite everything couldn't get over my hate of first person shooters. This looks like the old metroid I love, with a great looking story. Glad I watched this, wouldn't have been as excited otherwise.
idk, they're trying to simplify the controls AND give fans of side scrolling and 3D exploration everything they want. it just seems too gimmicky. it may be fun enough, but not as amazing as prime or super metroid before it. anyone else wonder what amazing, revolutionary game they could make out of this with a powerful console, like ps3 360? plus with fun online play and achievements. i'd be foaming at the mouth!
Man! Before i watch this trailer i was expecting to see something similar to the previous Matroid Prime games but, while i was watching, before i realized it my jaw had reached the floor :P This could be the best Metroid game so far! I cant wait to play it :D
Whoa...not bad. Although, seeing this trailer (and I know this is intentional) generates more questions than answers. Gameplay looks sharp! and...those CG cutscenes are impressive.
Wow impressive Glad a true hardcore developer decided to try their skills on the Wii. Wondering how hard it will be since the Gaiden series was known for its brutal difficulty especially Sigma. The Wii may have been said that it didn't have the best graphics but by looking at this I have to say that Team Ninja has definitely put the Wii to its limits and that's a great thing to see.
I am disappoint. I thought they would make the game use the wiimote for aiming even in side scrolling mode, and the nunchuk for running instead of the sideways style controls... The polish PC game Soldat is a GREAT example of that kind of control scheme. I will still probably get this game, looks nice indeed.
.... I'd probably still buy this... but I was hoping there be atleast a dedicated 3rd person Samus this time. I had enough of the platform metroid back in the 80's.
I'm tracking it and 80% sure I'll buy it, but am I the only one that thinks the game looks like a Gamecube game when it's not showing CGI? Graphics aren't everything to me, but I think I was under the impression the game would look as amazing as SMG. Heck, even Brawl is crisper than this.
@RAD_RADIO I grew up on Metroid and Super Metroid(NES and SNES respectively) and this game reminds me of the good old Metroid days, since Super Metroid is my favorite Metroid game. The Metroid Prime series were good too. I love to see a combination of both(the side scrolling aspect with the touch of first person).
@Mawfawka Metroid Prime 3 didnt even end completely, one of the endings showed a strange blue ship going after Samus' ship. It leaves the possibility of a 4th game, but i guess the developer feels like they dont have to rush into a 4th one yet. If Other M does great, we wont see a new Metroid Prime for quite a while. It sucks, because i enjoyed all 3 games a lot. The soundtrack was great the pacing was great, the graphics seemed better than Other M, although the cutscenes/movie sequences look like they are pushing the Wii's limitations (AKA they look amazing for the Wii)
