The previous Metroid Prime trilogy was a winning recipe. I don't know why Nintendo keeps pushing forward with empty games with doubtful graphics and gameplays
I actually now think that Nintendo may be on to getting three perfect 10 scores in one year, starting with Mario Galaxy 2 and then carrying on with this and Zelda Wii.
Im so happy that this game is a side scroller like its predecesors. I loved the old games like zero misson and fusion (fusion being the best). when they started the fps gameplay it was fun but i never got into the games as much. LONG LIVE SAMUS
I only know that I'm a super fan of Metroid series and if we look the work done in the past by Ninja Team we probably will have in our hands an excellent and unforgettable game
Have always loved metroid and always will. i remeber playing the original way back on nintendo with my brother when we were kids and mum also got into it. She still dose today on the Wii with the prime series. looking forward to this one.
This game now has my full attention. Looks great from both a graphical and gamplay-related view. The raindrops on her visor in the rain is a nice touch.
I am hoping for another 10/10. Mario Galaxy 2 did it and this looks like it could to.... Aswell as nintendo saying that the next zelda won't be released until it is perfect... that hopefully means another 10 in one year. :D
@texasjgc Hahaa the same thing happened to me with FFXIII :P But this game looks awesome and like the 2D Metroid games. This is how 3D Metroid should've been all along. It's the same thing for Castlevania, now they're making a 3D game that looks good as well. Metroidvania LIVES ON...IN 3D!
Man, Mother Brain has an HIDEOUS look in CG! Not that it's a bad thing, but it's... well, discusting. I'm looking foward to this game, I've beat Zero Mission and I'm working on the Mertoid Prime Trilogy.
@nineironroot well you can give us a hard time it's okay. Nintendo fans are ones having a really rough time at the moment. When's the next Wii Zelda coming out? oh you don't know. sorry.
There is one thing about this series that makes it Nintendo's best (and I am a Zelda lover admitting that Metroid is the better series): The will to experiment. Yeah, overall each game is the same: Grab item, go to new area, grab newer item, go to newer area, grab newest item...but they are willing to flex on gameplay mechanics quite a bit. Keeps things fresh. This isn't really Super Metroid, but it certainly isn't Prime, it's its own animal. I'd like to see more series experiment like this. (I'm not counting all the Mario games as a series because Mario has series within series. You've got the Platformers, Racers, Various Sports, RPGs etc)
@MasterDalton I agree. Saying it's going to be better than Halo Reach is like saying that Pizza is going to be better than feces, it really goes without saying. HAHA! I KID THE HALO FANS! Just giving you all a hard time, don't go crazy and kill me!
Finally. What Metroid should have been on the Game Cube. This is a perfect mix of 3D, 2D, first person and third person. I don't think any game has done this before. I'm very excited about the 2D levels. Samus can finally sprint and the screw attack seems promising. The Metroid Prime 3 screw attack was pretty good but no where near the flexibility of the one in Super Metroid. Also the music (if from the game) is pretty awesome. I'm hoping it'll be as memorable as the original metroids (1,2 and Super Metroid). Samus seems so responsive, it's reminiscent of the 2D versions, although the character animation is a bit jumpy but I guess one can only know for sure when playing. I simply cannot wait.
It looks alright, but the controls need a little bit of work. I have always loved the series, and I have gotten every single one, including the classic few. That beta is most likely going to change soon, because I would at least have it with the nunchuck to enable first-person movement. I like Nintendo's latest experimenting on different series, but one time, I fear things are going to turn out badly, and I really don't want it affecting this series especially. I have confidence, though, that they are going to fix this controlling problem, and this game will be a sucess. Great job Nintendo!
looks somehow interresting, but i guess gameplay won't be so fun when it comes to 1st person mode - it just looks crappy - i really hope they will fix that, if not i am not gonna play it cause i don't want to destroy my thoughts about this masterpiece series with this low quality game. Also metroid games never had videos, maybe some little when samus comes to another planet but here seems to be a lot (maybe just to give it a better look) so its not going to be a classic metroid while it trys to be one in gameplay, but also wants be as the prime series - i am a bit afraid of this game, i hope they will change that stupid controls - i am sure a lot will not like it if it is like this - it also shows that the makers didn't know what they really want to make, so they decide to make it a bit for everyone and the result looks not good yet - maybe you have to play it but i am sure there will be a lot of points in the game that could need better controls andi just couldn't imagine any fun with that 1st person mode and i am also afraid that it may turn out as the worst metroid ever but i hope its not.
I'm glad to see it going back to its roots. Looks like it was made in the same vein as Super Metroid. If that is the case it should be absolutely awesome.
