@mattcake @Milloman doesn't actually, while I see your logic, when we are talking about sequels they should be rated relative to each other and only secondary to games released at that time...comparing pong to a game like borderlands is irrelevant, but comparing B 1 and 2 is relevant and if the reviewer noted that B2 is better is almost every aspect then B1, he should mark it so...personally I think what GS needs is to go back to 8.7,8.8 etc. ratings, since most of the editors are afraid to increase a rating by a whole 0.5 since it seems so much, comparably they are afraid to decrease it by 0.5 unless really needed,,,
@VGjunkie87 @Zheph it does make it a less of a game actually...imagine the game was released on the PS3, but would be unplayable with the controller, you would need to plugin a keyboard to even play the game (I know, ridiculous, but good for an example)...would you consider it a good game when you, a person completely used to controllers would be REQUIRED to play the game on your own console with a keyboard?? of course you wouldn't....I'm the same....I am a Pc owner, I have held a console controller in the hand less then 5 times in my life, I love my mouse, now a game comes to the PC (yes to the PC) and it is basically REQUIRING me to use a peripheral which I have never used, when all it needed was a bit of tweaking and it could have run decently fine with keyboard and mouse....not saying it's a bad game, but I think around 1 out of 10 should have been deducted for the bad port, then another 0.5 for the graphics (and a fanmade patch is no excuse for the developers! if they have released their own Day 1 or Week 1 patch it would, but a fanmade patch cannot be an excuse), and you get the 8 the game should have gotten....my opinion
it's as bad as port of as great game as Resident evil 4 port for PC was......just for recap of history, RE4 got 9+ on the consoles, but on the PC it only got 7.8 because and ONLY because lazy porting..... I cite Kevin's tagline from the review - "Resident Evil 4's strong gameplay somehow manages to survive, despite a lazy porting job that will leave some PC owners wondering what all the fuss was about".....now, it's exactly the same thing with Dark Souls, but since the reviewer is mild, no points are deducted and DS on the consoles as well as PC has the same mark, 9.5....which should be I think unacceptable....if it was acceptable to just say "play it with controller and your fine", why did not Gamespot staff say the same with RE4? they should have said "just play it on the controller" as is said in this review and could have given it 9+.....I know, the reason is two different people reviewing the games and having different stances, still, I feel it's not professional to give DS on the PC the SAME mark as on the PS3, when it's not as great game there as it should be to receive the mark....it's the same mistake as giving mass effect 2 a 9.0 (the exactly same mark mass effect 1 has got), but citing in several places that it's a great improvement over its predecessor, how can it be an improvement, but still receive the same mark is beyond me....just my opinions, hope no offense is taken from any side
@azazelis psssst, it's diablo, it's made by Blizzard, this means protection and fanboy-ism, I would not speak against diablo out loudly unless you want to get hammered by people who played only 2 games during their life - WOW and Diablo 2 - and who claim that these are by far the best games ever and no others cannot possible come close to them (despite the fact they have not tried more than 2-4 games in their lives overall)...but I rather like it when they say WOW is the best game they have ever played, figures, when they only have played one :)
@Sekhemket don't forgot Activision is Activision Blizzard, so anyone cheering for Blizzard is included there...and many people do that...I, for once, am actually a Blizzard hater, release SC2 in three installments? obvious money grab...and don't get me started on WOW and how it ruins the mmorpg genre, it was ok once, but keeping it alive so long means other mmos do not stand any damn chance, nobody will be leaving wow, perhaps huge releases like SWTOR can make a dent or two, but otherwise Wow means burying mmos in the past and is preventing other competitors entering the market, just by how large it is...
@Albaficas actually CD projekt is hiring on new staff for a new project, or well did a month ago, not sure currently...so they would have a place to go...
@Nodashi annoucing and releasing are far from each...Duke Nukem Forever was annouced over a decade ago....it will still be at least 18 months until BF4 comes out, which is plenty of time to play BF3 in my opinion
BF4 beta is FALL 2013, so the release will be before chrismas that year...to all people planning selling their BF3, you are going to wait one and half year for BF4 or what?
