I suppose the internet has spoilt me when it comes to experiencing games like that. I remember on my PSone I never used to look up ways to get past obstacles in games and just spent obnoxious amounts of time figuring it out for myself. Definitely more rewarding but equally frustrating. Nowadays I give any obstacles I come across a try for about 30 minutes and if I'm still unable to progress I cave in and look it up >.<

About a week ago I stopped receiving any e-mail notifications for comments on gamespot articles. Initially I just assumed its because there wasn't any activity on these comments but going back and checking there was and I didn't receive any notifications. The same seems to be happening with forum posts, replies and being quoted as well. I've checked my profile setting and I've got my notifications turned on for forums and articles. Any advice on how to fix this?

And no the e-mails aren't being blocked by my mail account since there's nothing in my junk folder either.

Absolutely True.

Heres something funny, Bioware released an Infographic last year showing how many people played Mass Effect 3, turns out more than 50% played as the Default Shepard which was a soldier class.

Weird for an RPG with 8 classes, right ?

Not too surprised. I used to prefer warriors myself back in the days, because I used to think they were "cooler" and easier to play with. But nowadays I usually prefer mages and archers.

Also very possible that there were people who just wanted to jump into the game for the gameplay mechanics. A lot of RPG's in the past few years have moved away from just having a tailored experience (i.e. Baldurs Gate to Mass Effect) to also attempting to cater for gamers interested in fast paced action oriented gameplay.

I've done 16m TfB, SnV, KP, DF and first 2 bosses of DP and the fights were pretty fun, the mechanics are fairly simple and more forgiving than WoW and I found the community in general to be more accepting of players who haven't raided before. There were plenty of pugs I ran where at least half the peeps had never done any of the raids and the guilds usually talked them through the fights. Out of all the MMO's I played last year SWTOR kept me hooked the longest and it was probably the one I enjoyed the most as well.

That said it really is a subscription based game since attempting to play it through the f2p option is just incredibly painful. That'd be my one qualm about the game, it's like they released a grindier, slower and generally more painful version of the game and called it f2p to suck people into pointless microtransactions.

Wouldn't that make it MORE challenging if it has less room for errors?

Typo =p corrected xD

I played the beta of Wildstar. It's fun with the real time action and also very overwhelming with all the stuff they have planned, but it isn't anything drastically new or different either.

Games like SWTOR will be around for a while too.... and why do you say it wasn't challenging? Isn't the raiding in SWTOR the same as WoW?

SWTOR's mechanics at best are rough around the edges in implementation, you can glitch your way through some of the toughest fights. In addition when I compare the SWTOR raids with WoW, SWTOR has a lot more room for mess ups and in general is a lot more forgiving with mechanics than WoW (No LFR does not count as a raid). Keep in mind I speak of WoW raids in relation to ToT and the raids before it. I haven't played Siege of Orgrimmar and probably won't either.

Staying on topic, are there any interested Aussie gamers out there to form an upcoming guild in Wildstar!

Speaking as an MMO veteran of almost 6 years of raiding I feel as though Wildstar is shaping up to be an MMO that could be around for a while. Over the past few years I've moved away from WoW with the community becoming increasing elitist and just generally intolerable. SWTOR while a welcome reprieve just didn't provide the challenge and content that WoW did to keep me as interested long term.

With all the marketing and propaganda that Wildstar's been showing it does however seem to have what it takes to be a memorable long term MMO experience. However being a gamer in Sydney I'm 90% certain that there isn't going to be an Oceanic server at launch which means combing through forums and chat channels for a decent Aussie Guild. To save some time and pre-empt the legwork I'm posting this topic as a call out to mature MMO players out there who plan on jumping on to Wildstar and would be dedicated to clearing end-game contend thrice a week for two hours in the Aussie Timezone.

We'll create a guild at launch and make sure we're all on the same server. If you're interested or would like to find out more about the guild or my personal MMO background just inbox me!

Well, they are different games really.

I won't be playing ESO unless it gets mad reviews from gamers... and D3:ROS I'll get down the track when the price goes down.

I was going to say you've picked two games from two fairly different genres and playstyles, ESO going for a PvP MMO feel while D3 is basically a PvE game with always online being tacked on for reasons that escape me.

That said I'll probably be avoiding TESO until the reviews come out, and D3 ROS I'll save for a rainy day and play it then.

Personally I'd reccommend a Mad Catz RAT 7 mouse and a Corsair K90 Keyboard. However to use both to their full potential you got to be willing to spend a bit of time customizing them to your personal prefs :)
