@vgmkyle: While most conferences don't excite me at all anymore, I do still find most of them entertaining to watch. Even though I won't buy 95% of the games they show off. Especially the indies. Just not an indie/art type of person.
In recent years though I find myself not caring about games much anymore. I have an interest in hearing about or watching them, but when I sit down to play it's difficult for me to get pulled in. Just the way it is I guess.
Though I did start playing Paper Mario TYD and that is keeping me engaged lol, surprisingly. I barely play my switch, maybe I should start.
Only game I can think of where I loved the gameplay but the story and various bits about its characters made me dislike it overall. Since usually I can look past "issues" in storytelling.
I still remember finishing it and being unsure for days if I even enjoyed myself lol. Before of course coming to the conclusion that I didn't.
I watched a YouTube review of this game and literally took about 9 minutes for anything to happen in the footage. Dude was just walking forward through some rocks. Did some odd puzzle that took 5 seconds. Then walked some more. Fought three dudes. Then started walking again.
Another scene Senua was just walking behind some guy that was limping for several minutes. Then I turned the video off because I saw all I needed to lmao.
Of course there are people that are going to like it. Whenever someone says a game is good/bad it should be obvious that the person understands another human may enjoy it. But there has to be some sort of general way of describing something. Some sort of baseline from which we weigh a games success or failure in it being a game.
From what I saw but haven't played, it looks awful. Then again I found the first game to be boring too.
