@jerusaelem: Ada in RE2make was a great voice actress. Ada in RE4make, as soon as she came on the scene, took me out of the immersion when her acting was contrasted with Leon's. It's noticeable, and I'm speaking as someone who isn't a fan of the Resident Evil series. If you think she's great, you're entitled to your opinion. Likewise, everyone else is entitled to their opinion. Looking at it objectively, the actress who took up the mantle of Ada Wong, following the better performance in RE2make, does in fact sound like an uninterested, B movie actress.
They just gave the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion a 10/10 and praised Idris Elba for his performance in it and then they publish this article. I'm not saying you can't have diverse opinions but let's have some consistency, Gamespot...
I think Hollywood celebs are fine. Sean Bean narrating Civilization, for example, was a downright perfect casting (as was Leonard Nimoy in the Civilization before that one!). JK Simmons in Baldur's Gate 3 is fantastic.
Just don't cast B-list has-beens like Megan Fox. And don't waste your development budget paying Josh Dushamel to voice 5 minutes of dialogue in your WWII Call of Duty.
Wouldn't the very fact that there are diverse opinions mean that there will not be consistency? Not even people groups who share the same convictions agree on everything. Now if one of the people involved in this article was also apart of an article that praised Hollywood celeb voice actors, then I could understand your point. :)
Also, is Meghan Foxx relevant again? I had no idea she was a voice actress for an MK1 character until I went on PSN store to browse games. Watched a video of her in it and I was like, "Yeah... not great voice acting."
You can say any other celebrity's voice acting in games was bad and give examples, but nobody, under no circumstances, disses on my boy Toby in Spider-Man 2. The mans voice was that of an angel. XD
@hardwenzen: Because of course you were going to s**t all over this game too. Which is next on the list? Lords of the Fallen?
LotF is currently my most anticipated title for the rest of the year, or maybe should i say "the game i am most curious of seeing how it turns out to be". Its the first souls-like game that peaked my interest since Nioh 1. But if it fails, i will RAVAGE THIS GAME. You're not ready for what's to come.
Their first take on LotF was horrendous. Rebooted already, though I admit it looks promising. I do not see them making it good. I imagine the most it will do is be better than the first one, which isn't saying much.
I'm one of those who really liked the original face to Peter Parker. It took sometime to get used to, but he seemed like Peter. This new face that they put on him doesn't give me the same Peter Parker vibes. The voice doesn't even match the new face for me either. It's unfortunate, but I'm sure if I play the new game, which I will because of my boy Venom, I know I'll get over it.
Mortal Kombat is the only fighting game that I've actually enjoyed. The last one I bought was MKX and it was fun, but meh. This is the first time where the series seems very fresh and I'm definitely interested in it. Just not sure if I would pay full price for it. :) The story seems amazing as that's what caught my interest to begin with when I stumbled upon it on my PS5.
