mariostar0001 Blog

Which Blog?

I have two blogs I plan to write: Recipe for a union and mariostar0001's massive questionnaire. Which one first?

I beat New Super Mario Bros. Wii! :o

How? My cousins had it and beat it, so I just played the final level, which was way too easy, but epic enough. I also beat a couple of levels in world 2 (A normal one and the mini-fortress) and two levels, the mini-fortress, and the airship in world 8. I beat world 2 with my brother and world 8 mostly by myself (Only the Airship with my brother, he gave up when I started the fortress). In other news the union I advertised earlier, RareWare64, is now mine. I lead it since DonutDome resigned and that's a problem, since I've never played any of the games it is about. :? EDIT: Never mind about the union thing, DonutDome is just going on vacation. :P

Nintendo 3DS

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6254031.html?tag=latestheadlines;title;1 Another DS. A sequel, not just a remake. Japan release date (IGN says it's the Japan release date) is between late 2010 and early 2011, meaning we'll get it late 2011 to sometime in 2012. Your thoughts? Mine are a muddle. :?

Virtual Portable gets closer, but still isn't good enough

http://ds.ign.com/articles/107/1078986p1.html Three Game & Watch games on the DSi Shop, along with the original Rayman released months ago, makes four nostalgic titles on the DSi. Problem is, that's not much, and rather expensive ($2 for a single Game & Watch game compared to $5 for Game & Watch Gallery 4 on the GBA with 20 titles? Only judge might be worth it, it's not on G&WG4). How long until we get Gameboy and gamegear titles? Maybe eternity...

Rare and the Nintendo 64

Rare made several games on the Nintendo 64 that were good. Anyone remember Donkey Kong 64? Or Banjo Kazooie/Tooie? Or Diddy Kong Racing? They haven't done nearly as good as they used to, modern games by Rare just aren't as good as before. So what can we do about it? Join RareWare64, a union dedicated to discussing Rare's Nintendo 64 cla$$ics. :D Got you, didn't I? The nostalgia union is now RareWare64, and anyone who liked the above mentioned games should check it out. You're already a member if you were part of the Nostalgia Union, so check is out to see what's up. Note that it'll take a day or so for the new name to register, it was changed only 10-15 minutes ago. Banner/Icon coming soon as well, I'm working on it (Sort of) even now.

My theme is good, but any other ideas?

I recently discovered I am decent at making images, not good enough to make them for other people since I mostly just copy stuff, but enough for my current artwork. Problem is that it lacks variety, since I was a little limited size-wise. So I'm going to make a better one with a bit more to it, but should I do Super Mario Bros. or Super Mario Bros. 2? Bowser fight or not? I can't do Super Mario Bros. 3, the instruction manual doesn't have 8-bit pictures like the other games did so when I try to make my own (Like Boom Boom) they end up terrible. I could add in Kirby os Sonic, but they just don't fit. Dilemmas and obstacles. *sigh*

My Gaming Goals Over the Next Two Months

Okay, I've determined that I'll be buying my next game (Metroid Prime Hunters at the moment) in May, so until then I have other games I need to complete. Here's the list:

Complete Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (GBA)
Beat the last few levels in Lord of the Rings: The Third Age (GBA)
Collect as many stars as I can in Game & Watch Gallery 4
Beat the final tourney in Mario Hoops 3 on 3
Try for a perfect 100% in Yoshi's Island DS
Beat Sonic Advance story mode with all characters

Arranged in order from easiest to hardest. Any questions about my sanity/bravery?

New Review Style

Anyone who's read my reviews knows my style is, precise, meaning I take all factors into account, rate them, and then use the average score. That's changed, since I'm now posting reviews for a couple of other places: The Playback Union and the Legend of Nintendo, and maybe the Mario Gamer's Club and Super Mario Bros. Union if they start doing reviews. Legend of Nintendo has a specific style they use for reviews, and I've actually found it somewhat easier then my own, so I've tweaked my ratings system. It's only in my latest review (I'm not changing the others) so read it to see how good it is, and feel free to compare the two. Also: I fixed my HTML problems with Sonic Mega Collection Plus's review, so you can check that out too. I plan to write reviews more often, I'll write them based on Legend of Nintendo's style (For games on the GBA/DS) or Playback Union's style (Genesis/NES/SNES games) and then submit the review to Gamespot, where it will be added to the intended union later.
