@fig56: The issue is, up until recently, I would think most parents could have been safe in assuming that Gamespot was fine for kids to browse. Now we have direct links to porn hub?

Also, "Gamespot is here to report"? Yes, outstanding journalism. Obviously Porn Hub's user data has been needed on Gamespot for a while. Is that why you visit the site? To find out what is going on with Porn Hub?

@Golden_Gonads: It really depends on the age of the kid. I have nephews that are 8-9. Up until now if they were at my house, I wouldn't have thought anything about letting them spend time on Gamespot. Even if they are watching a video on the most gruesome Mortal Kombat X kills, its a video game. However, them running across direct links to Porn Hub??? If they were 12+, then yeah I agree, they would probably be well aware of porn hub. However, at 8-9 they may not be, and should not potentially run into a direct link on Gamespot, an otherwise "safe" site.

Also, there is a difference between seeing a pair, and seeing some of the bizarre stuff out there (and apparently Minecraft Porn).

@shiel44: Sure. Food may actually be the best source for a proper analogy. Pizza without Cheese....Hamburger without beef....

I honestly just sat here for 3-4 min, trying to think of a sarcastic comment like "24 without Jack Bauer is like X without Y.." but I honestly can't think of anything that is even close. That's how bad it is. There is no 24 without Jack Bauer.

Remakes and reboots are bad enough, but when you can't even do a proper remake / reboot, just give up on the idea...

@Alurit: That is a good point. I know I personally had a lot of issues with MGS V even though it is still a top 5 game for me.

So I guess I can see that. Still, a little odd considering how far down on most lists The Witcher 3 was for most of them.

@Suaron_x: I have to agree, even though for me, The Witcher 3 is a better game, I am confused on how they came to that conclusion with so many prefering MGS V.

OK so I am only going to voice my opinion once to make sure I am not inflating you view count on articles like this but.... yeah I really don't like seeing comic stuff in the news. Some movies and TV...OK I can deal with that and will read some of it. However comics? Yeah no. The difference is that most people are interested in movies and TV in at least some form. Comics are really a very particular group. Some people enjoy them and that's fine, however comics do not appeal to the masses.

Anyway it should work itself over time because people will just not click the links and in theory, Gamespot will give up on it.

@DarkAztaroth:Yeah I ended up using the summons for the Gargoyles and the fight went from insanely difficult, to crazy easy (because by then I had gotten to the point with a single Gargoyle that I could avoid taking damage completely until the second one showed up).

What bothered me was I felt like since I hadn't used a guide up until that point and still had a fairly crappy weapon and had chose a melee class, that the fight wasn't realistically possible for me without either an insane amount of luck or a lot of grinding / searching for new gear and items to kill them. So then I used a summon and the fight was trivial.

The butterfly boss was in theory pretty easy, even as melee, once I figured out how to time my dodges / rolls, and where to dodge / roll. But sometimes, for no clear reason, the missiles would still hit me. I also had learned the door way would block all the missiles only to then find out that it's laser / beam attack, shoots right through that part of the building / doorway. After dying several times, twice with only a sliver of HP left on the boss, I finally let myself do the summon and the fight was crazy easy.

Anyway, I am going to try to finish the game and will probably try others, and I can understand why so many people love the game, but unfortunately I feel like at least the first Dark Souls, has a lot of issues as well that makes it more difficult, but not exactly in a good way. Just my opinion.

I have actually been playing Dark Souls on and off for the last couple of weeks. I am about 1/3 to 1/2 way through. While playing, I can't say that I am actually having fun, but rather enjoying the progression. Many nights when I am done playing, I think I won't be coming back to it, yet the next day I feel a pull to play some more. So at least for me, the difficulty in the game makes it more addictive, but not really more FUN.

Also, after playing the game I really cannot agree with the claim that it is hard but fair. I can think of several instances that if you are not reading a guide, and have not played through it already, you are going to die. Capra Demon is a fairly good example of this as a tight area and almost no warning as you come through the fog gives you almost no way to survive your first time walking in. Even after your first time walking through, it is a fine line between luck and skill in order to survive those first few seconds.

Other issues include enemies hitting you through walls, the targeting system dropping your target (always at the worst times), black knights hidden in very early portions of the game that are near unkillable and unavoidable if you do not know they are there, a huge imbalance on some fights when it comes to Melee vs caster, clipping / combat issues where you can literally see you hit connect but it doesn't or a successful dodge still leads to your death....and so on. Not to mention all the traps that in theory you CAN see if you are super careful, but likely won't unless you know they are there.

Also some of the hardest bosses I have run into so far, can become pathetic with summons. Belle Gargoyles being a good example, as they are IMO, extremely difficult as melee completely solo unless you have a great weapon. However if you use the summons, you barely need to do anything.

I will probably keep playing the game on and off, and I can appreciate that in SOME ways, it provides a great challenge, however I also feel like it is a game with MANY flaws that a lot of people overlook and consider to be "added challenge".

Mario Maker is amazing. Easily the Wii U GOTY and in the top 5 games of the year easily.

I also wonder if the people automatically calling Xenoblade the Wii U GOTY and disregarding the others even have a Wii U / have played Xenoblade. I find it hard to believe someone who seems to dislike Nintendo games would even own a Wii U...
