Really looking forward to this. However I am a bit sad that this is the last Expansion. This is a game / series that I would gladly keep paying for DLC for (or sequels).
I know more than likely I am wrong, and am most likely stuck on this because R+L=J has almost become fact for most people....but I keep hoping things are going to turn out slightly differently.
Throughout Game of Thrones (both the show and books), there has been a huge focus on the color / style of children's hair. This was a major point with all of Cersi's children, and also of all of Roberts bastards (all having dark curly hair).
In the video, Lyanna's hair is very much straight and brown. I believe Rhegar was noted as having light colored hair. Jon's hair is dark and curly.... Is it not possible that Jon is actually a product of Lyanna and Robert? It could even be that Robert was drunk and Lyanna was not exactly 100% willing, and afterward went with Rhegar willingly to escape Robert.
Again, the focus on hair color / style really makes me wonder if the R in R+L=J could actually be Robert. Again, I am probably wrong....but....
Really looking forward to watching this, as I am a huge fan of things like this (and The Point, bring back The Point!!!!). I am also a huge fan of Blizzard and have played every game released since the original Diablo. I really can't wait to watch this.... What sucks is that I won't be able to watch it for a bit as I am out of town for about a week and a half starting Thur..... argh.
My theory on Jon, is basically that they go to burn his body (because they don't want him coming back) and with a little help from Melisandre (and possibly Thoros of Myr since he is rumored to be in this season), Jon will be brought back. His sword, having been in the fire with him, will also be pulled from the flame and will be the real Light Bringer. My guess is this will all happen as the Wildlings are preparing to attack the Nights Watch (and that is the battle Davos is getting ready for). So Jon will come back to halt that battle, saving the Nights Watch.
Having died, he will be free of his vows (and the Nights Watch obviously does not want him), so he (and some wildlings) will head off to deal with the Boltons (and will possibly meet up with Sansa along the way or after).
I do not see any way the Worg theory for Jon would work, at least for the show. In the books maybe, but in the show they don't show much about Jon's Worg abilities.
Also, while I do think R+L=J is the most likely, I keep hoping to see a twist there, and have it turn out that Lyanna was pregnant with Roberts child prior to being taken to the Tower of Joy. My basis for this is basically around Jon's appearance. He fits the description of all of Robert's bastards, and it would be the other way Jon would have a claim to the throne. Basically I just like it because it would be a twist to the popular R+L=J theory.
Clegane bowl will happen. Everything points to it.
If Lady Stoneheart happens in any way, I think it will be through Sansa. Not sure if she will die, but I can see her taking that role, as her character development seems to be pushing her toward something like that.
Now, to come back in a few weeks and see how wrong I was....
@computernoises: The reality is, they wouldn't be including this stuff if people weren't clicking on it. They can see what stories / news they are getting traffic on. I don't care about a lot of the movies / TV stuff (although I will gladly read anything about GoT), but people do. Apparently people also want to read about comic books (which I also don't care about and am surprised by). However, if people want to read it and want to click on it, then I guess the demand for it is higher than I would have thought.
Also, by clicking on these articles you don't care about, you are adding to those numbers that justify having that content.
I am really wondering if some of this is in response to the rumored specs of the NX. I would imagine, companies like Sony and Microsoft have some pretty good sources for information, since many of the developers Nintendo would be approaching about the NX, are currently making games for the XBox One and PS4. I am sure there are "so you didn't hear this from me" conversations going on all the time, so those companies have to have a pretty good idea of what Nintendo is planning.
So imagine if the following things were true about the NX
- It is anywhere near as powerful as the rumors suggest
- It is truly as easy to design for as rumors suggest
-Nintendo has learned from the Wii U and decided to actually make a competitive console again, which they really have not done since the N64.
If these three things were true, Sony and Microsoft would need to do something. If they ended their console cycle so soon, it would be a PR nightmare. So they have to stick with their systems for at least a few more years. However, if they are dominated by the NX in power, developers will start focusing more attention on the NX. You would suddenly have Nintendo getting the third party releases again, and having the superior version (possibly by a lot). You would have more gamers buying their games on that system instead, as they want they best possible experience. So Sony and Microsoft would need to do something to stay competitive. And I am wondering if that is what Sony is doing with the Neo. And if that is the case, it makes me extremely excited for what the NX may be.
I think this is a good move by Sony in general, regardless of the NX. Not everyone will be happy, but I will probably replace my system with a new system, depending on what all it can do (if it could read 4K blu ray discs, I would be sold no matter what). However, I would love to find out this is a reaction to the NX, and see Nintendo really hit it out of the park with their new system. I would love to see the NX be what the 64 was at the time. They still have, for me, the best First Party linup (followed by Microsoft, then Sony). So I would love to see them become a competitive console again.
@commander: Honestly, if Microsoft launched a new console so soon, they would be the ones dealing with a PR nightmare. Yes, some people may be upset they will need to upgrade their system to get the most out of PS1 games. However, if Microsoft decides to release an entirely new gen, all of those that bought XBox Ones will now have last gen console already, and be FORCED to upgrade if they want to keep playing new games. And if you say they will just get released on both XBox gens, then what is the point? That is really the same as what Sony is doing except literally having to separate versions out there. If no one is working on games exclusively for the newest system, they will not be able to truly take advantage of the power of that new system.
Assuming this works out for Sony, Microsoft will have a choice. Either follow Sony's lead and upgrade mid cycle, or own their spot as the budget system of this cycle (they can be the Gamecube of this generation). And there isn't anything wrong with being the budget system. They can still make money and put their focus into what they are going to do next. However, they will need to embrace it and price accordingly. If they continue to try to compete directly with the PS4 after this upgrade, they won't be able to do it. No one with any knowledge of the power difference between the two systems will pay $300 for an XBox One when they can have a far superior PS4 for $100 more.
@bdrtfm: Actually, this move is PERFECT for those who have a hard time coming up with the money for a system. If Sony does this, you can expect that the current PS4 system new, will have to drop down to at least $300 new, probably $250. You will then see used original PS4s for around $200, half the cost of the original (when it was released) and new system. Yes, they will have a system that has less power, but it will still perform almost well, just not as well.
As far as trading the system in. Yes, you will probably only get $150 or so in trade, leaving you to come up with another $250. No question, that is a significant amount of money. However, most gamers spend $60 or so on new games several times a year. Setting aside a little extra money every week to come up with $250 over the course of the next 7 months or so (my guess at release), really shouldn't be a huge issue. And if it is, there is no way that person has a 4K TV (which is a huge draw of the new PS4). If you have a 4K tv, and are so strapped for cash you can't set aside a dollar or so a day, your priorities need adjusting, since a 4K TV is honestly hard to justify right now. I have one, but I can't say it was really a smart decision. My Game of Thrones Blu Rays look really nice upscaled (side note, the upscaling tech on many of these TVs is really impressive), however TV through Cable / Satellite / whatever looks basically the same. I also notice very little difference on games for the most part.
I guess my point is, I don't believe the group you mention, truly exists (other than possibly kids that know they won't be able to talk their parents into getting them another PS4 so soon). I am pretty sure anyone who really cares about what this upgrade will actually do, is going to be willing to pay for it. They will want their games to as good as possible and will find the money to make that happen. Those that don't care, aren't going to want to spend the money on what will likely be a minor upgrade for most games.
This was actually made for someone in my (wife's) family. The company wasn't selling these. It was a one time thing made for him as a friend. Also, a few points (some of which have been covered by others).
-First, the only people who are going to think it looks anything like a toy, are going to be people that grew up in the 80s and 90s that played with one. All of those people are adults now. Unless you have that point of reference, it is just a grey gun with a little red paint on it. They make pink guns designed to be more attractive to women that look FAR FAR more like toys that these.
-The guy that owns this does not have kids. So even if the toy argument had any merit, it still would never be near children.
-If you are going to be upset by this at all, wouldn't it be more logical to be upset with Nintendo for ever producing it. The idea of being upset about a gun painted to look like a toy, that was made to look like a gun, is absurd. Essentially, it is made to look like a gun. Nintendo decided to make a toy that looked like a gun. It seems like if you were going to be upset by something, that would be it (although it would be a dumb reason to get upset as well).
-It's grey and RED. Not orange. RED. And they mark the barrel of toy guns with orange, not random spots on the gun.
Think about it logically people.
Side note : Looking forward to seeing it in person.
This is pathetic and painful to read. You are so critical of his ability to express himself in point one and two, yet you have several typos and mistakes further down in your post. Furthermore, you make many assumptions about why his statements don't make sense, having spent no time with the game yourself.
Here are just a couple of your mistakes. Normally I would never criticize someone's spelling or grammar, as I make plenty of mistakes myself. However when you spend that long scrutinizing the reviewer's every word, you should similarly scrutinize your own post.
“Fellow game spot people” game spot should be one word and capitalized.
“A schoolboy error indicating an uneducated or poor educated back ground or simply workers fatigue.” There are many issues with this statement. “poor educated” should probably be poor education, and “back ground” is one word, background.
