I saw my first episode of Spider Rider today. If I had known they were having 2 hours of it, I would've woke up earlier. But I saw the last one. The first 2 minutes, I was bored, but it got a little better. Too predictable, though, and the mouthflaps left a big pause between the words "spider" and "rider" and that got annoying, and it's kind of a combo of Pokémon/Megaman/any show where they transform, including, but not limited to, Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Magic Knights Rayearth. Yugioh never had any of that cookie-cutter superhero transforming stuff. (well, they probably do in Capmon, but I haven't seen that yet) Maybe if I had seen the first episode, I'd like it more. It was okay, though.
Yay! We made it to chapter 5! (There's only 7 chapters. And I still have to write one of them. Which I will do tomorrow) Enjoy! (this picks up where chapter 3 left off, which was a couple of blog posts ago)
Ch. 5
Parshath gripped the sword with both hands and pulled it out with a sickening sound. Jonouchi cried out in pain, and staggered backward. Blood splattered on the ground. Parshath's sword had left a huge gash in his left shoulder. Blood dripped down his arm; he held the wound with his other hand to try to staunch it. His knees threatened to buckle as he trembled with pain.
"Jonouchi!" Honda yelled again. Jonouchi didn't answer. Anzu stifled a scream. Yugi still had his eyes closed, but it didn't matter. He'd seen it already from the tauk.
"Stop the duel!" Otogi yelled to Isono. "He needs help!"
"No."
Everyone looked at Jonouchi. He staggered back to where he'd been standing. "I'm still dueling," He said, pained.
"But--!" Otogi began, but Yugi cut him off.
"No. Jonouchi-kun wants to finish the duel," he said, finally opening his eyes and looking at the ground. Everyone stared at him.
"Yugi-kun..." Anzu said.
"We can't interfere..." Yugi said. No one said anything else.
"You want to keep dueling, Jonouchi?" Malik chuckled. "You're more foolish than I thought."
"You shut up, Malik-chan," Jonouchi said.
"Fine. Since Parshath damaged your life points, I get to draw one card." Jonouchi's life points dropped to 1600. Malik's were still at 2200. Malik took the card he drew and placed it in his duel disk. "I'll set one card face-down, and end my turn," Malik said.
Jonouchi carfully drew his card. <i>"You want me to quit, Malik-chan... you think you can just toy with me like that, and I'll give up... I only agreed to stop one attack. I can still win this duel. I won't die here. Not like this."</i> He stood up straight.
"Since your turn's over, I get Airknight Parshath back," Jonouchi said. Airknight Parshath walked over from Malik's side of the field to Jonouchi's. "And your Sword of Deep-Seated is still equipped to him."
"Not that it matters," Malik said. "I activate Nightmare Wheel!"
<i>"No!"</i> Jonouchi thought.
Malik read his expression. "That's right, Jonouchi. Nightmare Wheel." Nightmare Wheel appeared on the field, with Parshath cruelly chained to it. "Your monster can't do anything, and you lose life points!" He laughed.
"Damn it... I set a monster in defense mode!" Jonouchi said. "Turn end."
Malik gleefully drew his card and said, "And now, you lose 500 life points from Nightmare Wheel." Nightmare Wheel started spinning. Parshath roared in pain. Jonouchi groaned as his life points fell to 1100.
"Now, I'll play Card of Sanctity!" Malik said, once Nightmare Wheel had stopped spinning.
Both Jonouchi and Malik drew cards.
"But the fun doesn't stop there," Malik said. "I think I'll summon Makyura the Destructor, and attack your face-down monster!"
Makyura appeared and stabbed Jonouchi's face-down card. Little Winguard materialized, blocking Makyura's claws with its shield.
"Nice, Malik-chan. You attack my Little-Winguard, which has 1800 defense points. Makyura can't do anything, and you lose life points!" Jonouchi said.
Malik's life points went to 2000. "Very funny, Jonouchi," he said. "Oh well, no big deal. I set three cards facedown. Turn end."
"My turn," Jonouchi said. He placed a card in the duel disk. "I play Mystical Space Typhoon on your Nightmare Wheel."
Nightmare Wheel shattered, and Airknight Parshath was realeased.
"And now that I have my monster back," Jonouchi said, and pointed to Makyura "I can attack yours!"
Parshath ran at Makyura, sword drawn.
"Forgetting something?" Malik said, pressing a button on his duel disk. One of his face-down cards flipped up. "I activate Sakuretsu Armor!"
Oversized gray armor appeared on Parshath, stopped its attack, and destroyed it.
"Such a foolish mistake, Jonouchi. And you were dueling so well before," Malik said.
"I set two cards face-down," Jonouchi said. "Turn end."
Malik drew his card. "I play Axe of Despair on Makyura!" A sinister-looking axe appeared in the air. Makuyra grabbed it, and its attack rose a thousand points to 2600.
"Next, I set a monster face-down. Now attack, Makyura!" Makyura ran forward and cut the Winguard in half.
"Turn end," Malik said.
<i>"He's backed me into a corner..." Jonouchi thought, examing his cards and the field. Malik had two cards face-down, Makyura with Axe, and one set monster. Jonouchi had two face-down cards. "I won't lose any life points this turn, but he'll control the field. This is all I can do."</i> He took a card from his hand and threw it on the duel disk. "I set a monster. Turn end," Jonouchi said.
"Is that all? You've lost your touch, Jonouchi," Malik said. "And this duel. I summon Zombyra the Dark!" He slapped the card on his duel disk, and a tall, zombie-like monster with a cape stepped onto the field. "Go, Zombyra! Attack his face-down monster!"
Zombyra lept into the air, came down, and punched through Jonouchi's set monster. Swordsman of Landstar briefly appeared, then shattered from Zombyra's attack.
"And now, Makyura, attack his life points directly!" Malik shouted.
Makyura moved the axe to its left hand, and ran at Jonouchi, right arm outstretched. "I win," Malik said.
"You wish, Malik-chan," Jonouchi said. "I activate Waboku! All damage I take is reduced to zero this turn. You wasted an attack," Jonouchi said.
"Oh, did I?" Malik said. "Look closer."
Makyura raised its clawed fist, and brought it down on Jonouchi's chest. Jonouchi's eyes widened in pain, and he cried out again. Makyura jumped back. Blood dripped down its claws.
"I don't have to lower your life points to hurt you, Jonouchi," Malik cackled.
Jonouchi fell to his knees, Malik's laughter ringing over his friends' cries.
