80K gamerscore unlock & XBLA games

Sometime yesterday I crossed 80K gamerscore while playing the XBLA game Comix Zone. Keeping with the tradition I've started:

  • 80K - Comix Zone (XBLA)
  • 70K - Madden NFL 10
  • 60K - Monopoly
  • 50K - X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • 40K - Sega Genesis Collection
  • 30K - Dead Space
  • 20K - Soul Calibur IV
  • 10K - Elder Scrolls Oblivion

I was really surprised at how fast I completed Comix Zone and racked up all the achievements. It didn't even take me a half and hour; 24 mins to be exact. The reason I was able to breeze through the game so fast was because it was one of the few games I owned on the Sega Genesis while growing up. Even though it's been well over 10 years since I last played the game, everything was still fresh in my mind. I knew how to solve all the puzzles, how to defeat enemies, how to strategically use items to defeat enemies and assist in the environment, the locations of all the hidden items, the hidden routes and short cuts to completing a level. I basically knew the game inside out! I didn't even die once, although my health was on red when I entered the final battle...good times...

Keeping with the arcade frame of mine I dusted off Namco Museum which contains several arcade games and I decided to give some of them a go since I'm in the mood to short simple games.

I'm still waiting for Halo: ODST to arrive as well as a few other games. I hope they'll arrive this week.

Kira or L

Death Note was by far the best anime series I've seen to date, followed by Code Geass. However I didn't know there was a live action movie series of the anime series. A close friend of mine who lives in the US told me about it and she sent me a copy of the 3 movies.

123

The series is 3 dvds long and English dubbed. I have only looked at the first movie so far. It was two hours long and basically follows the same outline of the anime series however it's less intense because most of the suspense has been tonned down or cut out. Still, I enjoyed the first movie a lot and since it's live action, it's like looking at a new Death Note. I was also expecting a low budget movie, but I was surprised the quality of the movie. Even Reyuk looks real and exactly like he did in the anime.

I also got a few games that have been recently released. Wet, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Mini Ninjas, Darkest of Days, Guitar Hero 5 and Cabela's Outdoor Adventure

I should be getting Halo 3: ODST sometime next week, together with some live subscription cards and microsoft points

I played Darkest of Days and it was a very bad game. It had a good concept, but the game itself urned out to be garbage.

I know Cabela's games in the recent years have been garbage, but Outdoor Adventure was actually good. It was the first Cabela's game I've played and enjoyed myself a lot despite some of the game's flaws.

That's all the time I have for blogging today I have more to say, but I really want to look at Death Note 2: The Last Name. Thanks for reading people.

Gaming Checklist for the rest of the year *update*

A few weeks ago I did a checklist of the games I would be getting this holiday seacon. Today while checking the new releases list over at GameFAQs, I realized, the list has almost doubled and there are now a few more games that have my attention that wasn't there before as well as some others so I must now update my list. This also means I may spend more this season on games instead of buying a PS3, which is what I was aiming to do.

My updated list

70K gamerscore and Batman: Arkham Asylum completed

I wanted to make this blog last week but I didn't really get the time and whenever I come online, I would get caught up in other stuff...

I finally crossed 70K gamerscore on Xbox live. It took me some time to stack up this 10K because I ended up playing several long games, spending dozens of hours on them and not concentrating on racking up gamerscore.

Now let me see the breakdown on the games that broke into the new 10Ks:

  • 70K - Madden NFL 10
  • 60K - Monopoly
  • 50K - X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • 40K - Sega Genesis Collection
  • 30K - Dead Space
  • 20K - Soul Calibur IV
  • 10K - Elder Scrolls Oblivion

I also completed Batman Arkham Aslyum. It took me a little longer than I expected. I'm sure everyone else said it, but it was a great game and I highly recommend it. Eidos isn't well know for making quality games like this and even less a superhero game, but this one was almost perfection. DC seems to be on a role with the Batman franchise. The Dark Night and now this, both capturing the insane and evil side of Joker, making him one of the best villians ever! Still even though the game was great, I wouldn't call it my GOTY just yet. I still need to play other games, Assassin's Creed 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 stands out.

The GameSpot RPG - 500th Blog Powerup!

I didn't notice it until today when a user asked me when I was going to make my 500th blog post. So here it is, my 500th blog post. I'm now a blogger!...well not really since stats like this means nothing to me and I don't pay attention to them. The RPG of GameSpot doesn't exist as far as I'm aware...maybe it's in development

Onto another stat related rant, this one I do pay attention to every 10K. I'm hovering dangerously close to crossing 70K gamerscore on Xbox live. My gamerscore as it stands with this entry is 69797. I'm hoping to cross 70K hopefully next week with either Madden 10 or Batman: Arkham Asylum. I don't have either game yet, but I'm hoping they'll arrive tomorrow or Tuesday. *fingers crossed*

Wolfenstein, Zegapain and Edenbridge

The holiday gaming flood is slowly approaching. Today I managed to pick up Wolfenstein. It's far too early for me to make an assessment about the game, but it's very Call of Duty-like with a mixture of sorcery.

I've really been thinking of unlocking Shadow Complex despite its 1200 points price tag, but I'm still undecided with all the games coming out for the rest of the year and then a flood again in early 2010.

I've also started anime hunting based on the recommendations in my last blog. I did manage to get a series called Zegapain from a friend. I haven't looked at it all yet, but the storyline is very much like Matrix...but with it's own unique spin to it. The world is destroyed and people exist only as data in servers across the world.

Anyone ever heard of a band called Edenbridge? A few weeks ago I borrowed one of their albums (Shine) from a friend and I really liked it. I placed an order today for all their albums. I like their music a lot. They are one of those symphonic-metal bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation and Liv Kristine. These type of music and bands are rare in the western world.

Anime Recommendations & Homecoming

I finished up Silent Hill: Homecoming yesterday and I took the majority of today cleaning up the rest of achievements for the game until I got the full 1000G. I'm still undecided if I want to do a review for the game or now. But in short I actually liked the game after playing it a bit. The flaws were plentiful in the game, but I'd like to focus a positive. If you want to play this game, PLAY IT FOR THE STORYLINE! The storyline for this game was excellent. At first it may seem pretty stupid and extremely flawed, but the twists and turns to the end left no questions unanswered. The storyline was Silent Hill at its finest. I was also happy to see Pyramid Head make a few appearances in the game.

I saw all 5 endings and my favorite was ending #3.

I started looking at a lot of anime again *see header above* and I'm looking for some recommendations. I'm only interested in anime with good, solid storylines and not too many fillers. I don't know if it's possible but anything along the lines of Death Note, Code Geass or Speed Grapher. I'm tired of wasting my time looking at crappy anime with lame-ass storylines! They must also be in English and avaliable in box sets because I plan to order them.

What I've been up too.

I just realized it's been a while since I last blogged. No surprise, I've been very busy lately.

I also managed to finally get some time to do some gaming...playing Silent Hill: Homecoming of course. I probably spent over an hour yesterday stuck at a sliding puzzle. I finally solved it today after spending about another on it and I have been able to make some more progress in the game. So far, I do like the game, but it took me some time to get into it. Everything you love and hate about survival horror is in this game and everything you love about Silent Hill is here, plus eveything you hated and then some. This series needs to evolve like Resident Evil did. The new combat and gunplay controls are a welcomed addition to the series, but the game doesn't execute this feature too well. Konami needs to evolve the Silent Hill franchise if they want to keep their fanbase.

I also crossed G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra off my list of games to buy for the year. I wasn't expecting much from the game anyway.

I'm also very hyped for the Xbox live dashboard update tomorrow. I haven't been doing much research into it, but I am very interested in purchasing full version games from the market place. It will be interesting.

Gaming Checklist for the rest of the year

This is my checklist for the rest of the year on games I'm going to get. I'll admit at first glance it didn't look like there were many games I would have purchased this holiday season and I was very glad some of the games were delayed, but I was seriously mistaken. I did not realize how many games I was interested in when I made this list. There's a huge listing of games I'm interested in...all the more reason I'm glad Splinter Cell and Bioshock was delayed...I guess I'm going to be broke again this holiday season...

The games in green are my MOST anticipated

Will be getting

Wolfenstein
Shadow Complex (only if it's 800 ms points or less)
