Aliens vs Predator

I started playing Aliens vs Predator. There was no way I was going to actually buy that game because of the horrible reviews. I borrowed it from a friend of mine in exchange for my copy of Oblivion.

First thing's first. I tried the human campaign, played if for about an hour and it's total garbage! My biggest problem with it is how ****ing dark the game is! Awful! Awful! AWFUL!

I tried out the Alien storyline and what do you? I actually enjoyed that one. I was expecting it to be the worse than the human but I was wrong. It's basically a stealth version of the game. The stealth kills were also awesome. It took me some time to get used to the controls and gameplay style, but when I finally did, the campaign was over. It was about 2 hours long.

I have yet to try out the Predator storyline, but i suspect it will be similar to the human.

2 more weeks until Final Fantasy XIII

3 more weeks until...

21 more days until Final Fantasy XIII. I don't think I've ever counted the days for the release of a game before. I've been waiting for a good Final Fantasy game since Final Fantasy X...the games that came after just didn't cut it and I'm hoping FFXIII will be worth the wait! it will be either an utter disappointment or an epic classic...If this was still a PS3 exclusive I'd have a PS3 a long time ago just for this one game! maybe I'll wait and see how Final Fantasy XIV goes.

And I did get Bioshock 2 over the weekend. I'm not all that far in it, because I'm taking my time and only getting a few hours of gaming a day so I might most likely complete it by next week or so (unless I decide to lose some sleep over it). I don't want to comment on it too much, but I'm a little disappointed. The good thing is the game is almost identical to the first game, the bad thing is the game is almost identical to the first game.

Dante's Inferno completed

I finished Dante's Inferno and 1Ked it. I wasn't aiming for the 1K, it just happened. I kind of liked the game. It was basically a god of war clone, but the game runs out of steam about half way and it was pretty short, around 8 hours first playthrough. All of the epic battles and moments were watered down later in the game, even some of the later levels felt stripped. The game also had some very annoying time based puzzles and some very cheap frustrating deaths from environmental hazards and bottomless pits when platforming or swinging. Overall it was still a nice fun game that would you might enjoy for a few short hours. It's clear this is going to be a trilogy and I just hope Purgatory and Paradiso will be better.

Bioshock 2 is also out but I'm very surprised my copy has not arrived yet. I should get it sometime this week...hopefully

110K Gamerscore Achievement!

It took me over 2 months to build up this 10K and I suspect it will keep taking me longer and longer in the future to amass 10K gamerscores. This 10K was crossed with Dark Void. I don't know which achievement crossed it because I wasn't keeping checks on it. Anyway...the breakdown as usual of games that crossed me into the new 10K

  • 110K - Dark Void
  • 100K - Left 4 Dead 2
  • 90K - NBA 2K10
  • 80K - Comix Zone (XBLA)
  • 70K - Madden NFL 10
  • 60K - Monopoly
  • 50K - X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • 40K - Sega Genesis Collection
  • 30K - Dead Space
  • 20K - Soul Calibur IV
  • 10K - Elder Scrolls Oblivion

By the way, Dark Void wasn't a good game. I forced my way through the game. It reminded me a bit of Darkest of Days :?...anyway Dark Void was a huge disappointment. GS was very lenient with the 6.5 score. Avoid at all costs! Shame on Capcom for releasing this game!

Mass Effect 2 Feedback - 'Sweet' (Cartman's voice)

I know I'm well over a week overdue with this entry, because with the last entry I promised some feedback the next day, but I got caught up in work and I little to no time for anything else....plus I was busy with a second Mass Effect 2 playthrough.

The game was a great one, storywise, it was longer than the first game, but it really lacked the side missions when compared to the first game. As a result, the overall length of the game was noticibly shorter than the first one. I ended up capping off my first playthrough at around 29 hours with all avaliable upgrades and sidequests done and at Level 26. The only quests that remained were the missions for scanning planets (which are a pain in the ass to find without a guide). My second playthrough clocked at 13 hours with the storyline completed, all ship upgrades, some sidequests and some upgrades. One thing I hated with the second playthrough (if you decide to import your ME2 character) was the level cap of just 30. You will get to level after just 2 or 3 story related missions, after that, experience becomes useless...therefore sidequests become almost useless too.

I really don't want to sound like a broken record and repeat what was said on the GameSpot review, but I pretty much agree with everything that was said. The only difference is: I would have given it an 8.5 because of the game's length and poor replay value. A weekend rental or two should satisfy you, if you don't have the cash to buy this game.

And lastly, the reason why I sped through the game was because of timing. I got the game on my day off and I didn't have much time to play it after that. If I had left it, I would still be playing it at the moment and would not be anywhere close to the end... and then Dante's Inferno and Bioshock 2 would pile up.

Completed Mass Effect 2

Completed Mass Effect 2 this morning. The game wasn't as long as I expected. It was longer than the first, but still not long enough, I just barely crossed the 20 hour mark, and I did do quite a bit of side missions and planet scanning.

I'm now sleep deprived and I need to get some rest because I have to work this evening so I'll blog a bit more tomorrow.

...so far 12 hours into Mass Effect 2

Got Mss Effect 2 today

Played it all day, currently a little over 12 hours into the game (on the second disc). Taking a break to stretch my legs, have a bath, eat and stock up on drinks because I plan to pull an all nighter playing it. Sleep is for the weak!

This is Mass Effect 2 week

This is Mass Effect 2 week and a little under 2 week is Boishock 2 and Dante's Inferno. That gives me around 2 weeks to complete Mass Effect 2, but i'm pretty sure I can complete in a week or less which might also give me some time to play either Dark Void or Darksiders.

The shipping company already called me today, which means my copy of ME2 is here but it's too late so I'll collect it tomorrow. I just hope that game lives up to all the hype.

I'll blog more later in the week as I progress in the game

Finally completed Bayonetta

I finished Bayonetta a few days ago and I'm still not quite done with the game yet.

Bayonetta started 2010 off with a bang for me. It's clearly a GOTY 10 contender for me. I have not enjoyed a face paced action game like this since the first Devil May Cry on the PS2. Bayonetta excels and destroys games of the similar genre like Devil May Cry 4 and Ninja Gaiden (we'll have to wait and see for God of War 3)

Sex appeal and suggestive themes aside, even without them, Bayonetta would have ROCKED! The best feature in this game is the multiple save and checkpoints during the level. Most off, if not all the times, the game saves before and/or after a battle so you wouldn't be replaying large chunks of gameplay when you die. Even so, when you die, you respawn with full HP. The game itself on the default difficulty was not difficult at all. Bayonetta was a lot of fun with almost nil frustration unlike other games *cough DevilMayCry4,NinjaGaiden2*. Video games supposed to be like this! The variety of gameplay elements/sty|es and titanic 'Shadow of the Colossus-type' boss battles were also well appreciated. First playthrough should net you between 10-15 hours if you spend some time upgrading Bayonetta and/or attempting the very challenging (but optional) challanges in the game.

Go out and buy this game seriously! I'll give it a 9.5!

_______________

I also have Darksiders, but I'm afraid to start it because Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 are just over the horizon and I'm sure I might just abandon the game if I don't finish it in time...

2010 just started and there're so many good upcoming games

It's been over 2 weeks since I last did a blog so I've decided to do one so everyone wouldn't think I fell off the face of the planet. The extended breaks between entries may become more frequent in the future.

Too many new releases in the coming weeks. I got Bayonetta and I'm hoping to complete it before Mass Effect 2 hits. Looking at the new releases, I see several games I must get and I'm quite happy Splinter Cell was delayed to April, I wished it would have been delayed further.

Dark Void and Mass Effest 2 will be released just meer days part, followed by Tropico 3, Bioshock 2 and Dante's Inferno. Then there's Alien vs Predator, Deadly Premonition (hoping it will be good) and Resident Evil: Alternate Edition. Shortly after that there's Battlefield Bad Company 2 and the behemoth Final Fantasy XIII...and that's just up to the beginning of March, there's still a lot after that! It's times like these, I'm proud to have a console monogamy.

I've also dusted off some of my old DS games and started playing some of them again. I decided to start Broken Sword Shadow of the Templars, Director's Cut first and then I'll probably start Hotel Dusk, Time Hollow or something else. I just hate carrying around multiple DS carts.

I'm also seriously considering a PSP Go mainly for videos since the DSi cannot run them. I do have a PSP, but it's the old model and not very portable friendly. Plus the analog stick is broken so I cannot play any games that use it.
