@burasta: Excatly, I personally think the perfect gaming platform combo would be PC+PS4 or PS4+Switch. or all three PC+PS4+Switch :) I'll try to eventually add a Switch to my collection...
@leith219: of course they care, pushing Microsoft Games on PC does give them additional sales from PC gamers who wont get an Xbox, but an Xbox brings them both Hardware and Software sales so they Do care actually.
The GTX1080 is one of the first proper 4k GPUs and it alone costs >600$ and that's a GPU alone. I know Microsoft will be mass producing and that's almost 1 year from now so that's less cost, but still they're making a whole 4k system so it's hard to imagine how they can sell it less than 600$ unless it's at a loss. I think the Scorpio/OneS should then be marketed somehow like the PS4/PS4 PRO combo, as in, you can get a Scorpio that gives you the best console gfx though at a premium price and just an optional upgrade, but don't be put off by its price and it's not a next gen console, so you can still have a XOneS and don't have to upgrade it still does everything, plays everything, and has great price and bundles...
I am both a PC and Playstation fan, so with Microsoft's new direction of unlocking the exclusivity of their first party titles and outing them on PC, there would be no need to buy a Scorpio or XOneS anymore, and Microsoft would still benefit from Software sales then if I buy any of their games on PC, but as I am also a Playstation fan I am less interested in Halo/Forza/Gears and more interested in Horizon, God of War, Death Stranding, Last Guardian, Days Gone, anything else Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch comes up with.
@arrowhead927: like I said, I know some games will be scaled and others will be native, and am not hung up on the issue cause for me the golden standard is still 1080p60 and improved gfx instead of sweating for 4k on the cost of fps or visual settings.
Even most PCs struggle with 4k so I don't have unreal expectations from the PS4 Pro. It is what it is, a boost, an improvement, a mid-cycle jump, it's your choice to jump or stay on PS4 there's no wrong decision here especially that the Pro isn't forced it's just more options and more choices which is always good.
@louixiii: I don't know why people don't get it and keep spamming the topic, of course the Pro will use checkerboard scaling for most gfx intense titles. But as you said Digital Foundry and others found this technique to be almost perfect and it's just for 400$! where am from a high-end 4k gpu costs more than double this price tag! So I do find the Pro a very well done machine.
@runstalker: I very much want the multiple profiles. Each profile will be best according to the type of game.
- For quick action or online shooters, I don't mind lowering any setting in order to keep the 1080/60 standard because it is a requirement.
- For games that are all about adventures and experiences, I'd want better visuals and then don't mind locked 30 or more but I mean a REALLY locked rate cause I agree with you Variances ruin it.
