Platyphyllum Blog

I wanted to be with Yuu!

Hello everyone, it's nice to see you all today!

Wow, I'm really behind on my blogging. My last blog was...last month! Well, at least these big spaces of time between my blogs gives me a lot to blog about! ^_^ Anyway, a number of things have been happening, I got myself a bunch of new games, I watched a movie, and did a bunch of other stuff!

Games

I've managed to get a number of new games lately! ^_^ The new games I got were Fatal Frame III: The Tormented, No More Heroes, and Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2. Here are some of my impressions:

Fatal Frame III: The Tormented

asd

This is the first Fatal Frame/Project Zero game that I've owned so far. I know it makes more sense to buy games in their numeric order, especially if their stories are somewhat related but...I couldn't find Fatal Frame 1 or 2 at the store so I just got this since I was really craving for some survival horror! It was a pretty nice game, the atmosphere was really creepy, the graphics were incredible for the PS2 in my opinion, and it's gotten me all hyped up for Fatal Frame IV which is coming out for the Wii! ^_^ I actually finished the game already, I've already written a review for it but it's not up yet :P

No More Heroes

sdf

Um...I haven't played this yet! :( I will find time though! ^_^ It looks like a really interesting game and one of my friends really like Suda 51's stuff so, I went ahead and bought it! I haven't played it but like I said earlier, I will for sure.

Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2

sdfg

I'm currently playing this right now. I must say, it's quite an improvement over the first game! The graphics look much cleaner and smooth, there's more variety in the operations (I'm glad I'm doing stuff like removing poisoned pills from someone's body and removing bullets instead of operating on GUILT every single time), and there a bunch of new features like using the defibrillator and making skin grafts. Anyway, I might make a review for this later on so look forward to that! ^_^

As for the my gaming progress for the games I already had before this batch of new games...well, the only thing I've really been playing is Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. I got up to the Trumpeter fiend and died. For some reason, I stopped playing after that, I don't know why, but I'll try to beat the game soon! ^_^

Movies

Hmm, I'm not sure if "Movies" is the right header for this section. I just watched one "movie" and...it wasn't that good. It was...

sdf

That's right, I watched the Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and it honestly wasn't that good. It just seemed rather mediocre. I liked the first Mummy movie and the second one so...why not this one! But, I wouldn't recommend you see it in the cinema. Maybe it would be worth a DVD purchase/rental but...that's pretty much it.

Reviews

Ever since last time, I've made one new review which is for Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. If you'd like to check it out then here it is:

SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: NOCTURNE REVIEW

If you liked my review, you can recommend it using the link at the bottom of the page! ^_^

Books

Well, here's a category you guys don't see me use often since I haven't been reading too much lately. However, I did buy a new book and it's pretty cool (although apparently, it's one of those love it or hate it ones). It's called The Catcher in the Rye.

sdfg

I personally really liked it! I'm about 70 pages in and it has a rather interesting yet weird story. I found the main character, Holden Caulfield to be really interesting and I'd personally give it a recommendation. I haven't finished the book myself though so if you're going to buy it based on my word, you might want to hold off on doing that.

----------

Well, that's all for today! ^_^ I'll see you all soon!

Makeup

Hello everyone! It is nice to see you all today! ^_^

Hmm, the time intervals between my blogs have been getting longer and longer! I already forgot when I made my last blog. It must've been more than 10 days ago :P Well, I'm here now so don't worry if you all thought I was gone or something. Anyway, life has been quite uneventful. Nothing interesting happened (unlike last time where I graduated :P) but I got to see a few movies and make some progress on my games!

Movies

I went to the movie theatre/cinema a few times in the last few weeks (something I haven't done for months) and watched a few movies! ^_^ I ended up watching The Dark Knight, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Mamma Mia. Here are my impressions on them:

The Dark Knight

uikjk

Wow...this movie was just great. It was full of action, drama, and I just loved it! I found that I enjoyed it much better than Batman Begins (which was a good movie on its own right) and well...I don't really have much else to say about it! There was great acting, a story full of twists and turns, and of course we can't forget the wonderful presence of the Joker in this film! My friend thinks he's a stud and she thinks he is attractive :P That's a big accomplishment, even for an actor like Heath Ledger to accomplish! He even puts on makeup better than some of the girls I know :P It's too bad that he passed away and can't act in any future movies. Well, overall, The Dark Knight was a wonderful movie and I think anyone should consider watching it.

Journey to the Center of the Earth (3D?)

sdf

Alright, so we have The Dark Knight, an incredibly good action and suspense movie and...we have this. A rather sub-par movie with special effects being its only saving grace. The acting seems very forced, the characters are one dimensional and...the whole movie just seems flat and undeveloped. I didn't even come close to shedding a tear at the supposedly "emotional scenes" and honestly, when you're given the circumstances that the characters had to go through, they really all should've died (they were falling through a huge long shaft for an entire few minutes which should've resulted in their heads exploding or their brain becoming non-functional because of the sudden change in air pressure). The one good thing about the movie is the special effects which, I can imagine, can look extremely good in 3D. I however, didn't watch it in 3D which was a huge mistake. Anyway, if you have a child who is a big fan of fantasy and adventure, then you might consider watching this with him (if it's still even showing) or buying the DVD as he might enjoy it. But, I myself didn't like it that much.

Mamma Mia!

sdf

While The Dark Knight was really good and Journey to the Centre of the Earth was not really good, Mamma Mia in my opinion is somewhere in the middle. Mamma Mia is a movie based on a stage musical so it was a lot of fun to watch, but you could find a much better musical out there. Some of the actors are terrible singers like Pierce Brosnan (who's voice seems way to deep and coarse) while Meryl Streep and many of the other singers do an OK job. My mom was having the time of her life when she was watching this movie >_> I guess it's because she was a big fan of ABBA songs and she was dancing in her seat which was kind of embarassing :P While the movie's cheesiness might not be for everyone, I'd still recommend it to people who enjoy musicals.

Well, that's it when it comes to movies for now! I might watch The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor so you guys can look forward to my impressions on that.

Games

I haven't gotten any new games lately but I have made some progress on my current ones! I ended up finishing Persona 3 FES and made a review for it (more on that later). It was a really great game in my opinion! Something I'll really remember for a long time! Now I'm going to go and join the group of people who are eagerly awating Persona 4 :P

I've also played about 12 hours on Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. The game is actually pretty nice! There was only one part I absolutely hated which was grinding for an hour in order to beat a fiend called the "Matador" but other than that, the game is very challenging and very satisfying! I'm looking forward to playing it even more! ^_^

Reviews

Since I finished Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES, I decided to make a review for it. If you want to check it out, here it is:

SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: PERSONA 3 FES

Tell me what you think about it! And...you know...if you liked it, you could recommend it using the recommend option at the bottom of the page! :P

Well, that's it for now! See you all soon! ^_^

I Will Always Stand By Your Side

Hello everyone! ^_^ It's very nice to see you all today! ^_^

So, how is everyone doing? I'm not feeling too well. I think I'm catching a cold (again! It's only been 2 weeks after I was last sick!) and I pulled a muscle in my leg yesterday at school. It hurt pretty bad. The odd thing is that one of my friends and my brother also pulled a muscle in that same day. Thus, I took the day off from school. I should be able to go back to school tomorrow though (unless my cold progresses). Nonetheless, despite my negative state right now, I still have energy left to make a blog.

Games

Well, for those who read my last blog, you would remember that I recently got a game called Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines for the PC and I absolutely loved it! (the only major problem being the heaps of technical bugs and glitches that are present if you don't download any patches). I've been making quite a bit of progress on it and I'm actually near the end. However, lately, because of schoolwork, I simply haven't had the motivation to actually finish the game so I won't be making a review for it yet.

sdf

I also ordered two new games since I'm getting bored of my current ones. The games are Mario Kart Wii for the...Wii, and Golden Sun for the GBA. They both look pretty fun so I'm looking forward to them!

sdf wer

Moving

Well, big news, I'm moving! My family and I are situating ourselves to a place nearer to the highschool that I go to. We've been moving a lot of the furniture ourselves and its really tiring bringing the TVs and everything up so I just hope everything goes well in the end! ^_^

Music

Remember last time when I said that I was obsessed with video game music? Well, I no longer am. I'm actually listening to a lot of other artists right now. I pretty much just asked my friends for some good songs to listen to, and I've been listening to different songs at an incredibly fast rate :P Lately, these have been some of my favorite bands (their genres are varied, there's Celtic, Pop, Worship, Trance, etc.)

Apocalyptica
ATB
DJ Inphinity
Rihanna
Iona
Flyleaf
Joanne Hogg
Dagda
Ayaka
Mozart
Libera
Nobuo Uematsu
Hillsong United
DJ Mangoo
Darling Violetta
Enya
Leona Lewis

So, yeah, as you can tell, I've been listening to quite a bit of new music.

----------

Anyway, that's all I have to blog about today! See you all soon! ^_^

The Words I Feel

Hey everyone! ^_^ It is nice to see you all today! ^_^

So, how is everything going for all of you out there? Things have been going really well for me lately! Although, I have unfortunately gotten a fever so I couldn't go to school today since I was feeling terrible in the morning (I do feel better now though). Anyways, a lot of stuff has been happening ever since I last blogged, I went to a camp, got a new game, and I'm also going to go to my friend's Confirmation this coming Thursday (for those who don't know what a Confirmation is, you can check my last blog where I briefly describe it). Anyway...

Games

Ever since my last blog, I have received a new game! That game happens to be the long-awaited Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines!

sdf

To tell you the truth, I have been enjoying the game quite a bit lately! ^_^ Even if the game is old and full of bugs and glitches, I still found myself easily immersed into the large and interesting "World of Darkness". The gameplay's pretty nice, the characters are interesting and full of personality, and I found myself playing the game and completing quests while the hours flew by. The only major problem I found with this game is (as I stated out earlier) is that its full of bugs and glitches! There are a huge amount of unofficial patches released dedicated on fixing these (I downloaded some) and even then the game is still buggy. My brother just upgraded the computer last year and even with a high-end 2006/07 computer, the game still lags and such. Luckily, I didn't have to go through those random game crashes and 2-minute loading times that people who bought the game at its initial release had to go through. Although, nonetheless, the game is still great. If it wasn't full of so many technical problems, I could've easily said it was one of my most favorite games of all time. I might make a full review for the game eventually so look forward to it! ^_^

As for other games, I ended up finishing Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword. I'm trying to unlock the Way of the Kunoichi mode to squeeze out as much of the game's content as I can but other than that I'm pretty much finished with the game. I'm still working on Baroque though.

dfg sdf

Music

I don't know about you guys but...have you guys ever been obsessed with video game and anime music? After I got my MP3 player on my birthday two months ago and actually bothering to use it AND finding out about Galbadia Hotel, I've been downloading all of my favorite game music :P Anyway, just so you get an idea, here's a list of all the game music I have:

Why (by Ayaka) - Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Pain - Xenosaga

Small Two of Pieces - Xenogears

Orchestrated Phoenix Wright Music

...and I have a whole lot more but I'm feeling a bit lazy so I won't post all of them up. Anyway, as my search for more variety in music continues, I will continue to listen to these songs and hope that I won't be listening to them everyday anymore because they honestly are getting a bit repetitive (but not to the point where I stop listening to theme >_>)

----------

Anyways, that's all the news I have to share with you all today! ^_^ See you all soon!

I'm Baroque

Hey everyone! ^_^ Nice to see you all today! ^_^

Anyways, its been quite a while since my last blog! So, how are you all? I'm doing great! It has been a very busy but fun week! Quite a few things happened, the main thing being that I had my Confirmation (for those who aren't Roman Catholic, its a sacrament of initiation where people that are around my age, 14, get to freely accept their religion) and a bunch of new games! ^_^

Games I Got

Ah yes, I always start off my blogs talking about games right? Well, to tell you the truth I got 3 new games in the last week! How did I accomplish such a feat? Well..its actually because my Confirmation sponsor gave me $100 for some reason 0_o I mean, I know this is such a big event in my life but...that's quite a lot. However, I'm really thankful for the fact that she gave me that! ^_^ I decided that it was a great opportunity to buy some new games! My uncle also sent me a game so I now got a total of 3 new games. Those games are Baroque for the Wii, The Orange Box for the PC, and Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword for the DS.

dfgsdfdfg

I decided to buy Baroque because I love Atlus and it looked really interesting judging by the trailers and the website. To tell you the truth, I'm actually liking it so far. The storyline has to do with you, the protagonist waking up in this deserted post-apocalyptic area of the world and you meet with this archangel person who sends you to the basement of Neuro Tower to save the world. Yep, you have to go down a tower to save the world. This isn't any ordinary tower though as it turns out, it stretches a LONG way beneath the ground (20+ floors) and its filled with nasty beings that try to kill you. I really like it because of its interesting dark atmosphere and mysterious main character that I want to find out more about. Heck, I want to find out more about ALL the characters since they're all so mysterious. Anyway, I really like the game. However, be warned, just because I say I like it, that doesn't mean you will. This isn't an ordinary JRPG like Persona 3 or Final Fantasy, its a bit of a roguelike except its in 3D. In case you don't know, most roguelikes are very challenging and have heavy death penalties so get Baroque at your own risk! ^_^

sdfg

Now, I must admit, The Orange Box is completely AMAZING. Five incredibly high quality games in one is just mind-blowing. So far, I've only played Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One and Team Fortess 2. All 3 of them are really great and judging from the review, Episode Two and Portal are amazing as well! ^_^ Anyway, I can't really say much because I can barely find any faults on the games and explaining all of the 3 that I have played would take up too much time so...yeah. (Alyx is an awesome character by the way)

sdf

Now its time to talk Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword! I was actually planning on buying Professor Layton and the Curious Village but the store didn't have it so I got Ninja Gaiden: DS instead. Its pretty nice but kind of confusing since I never played any of the previous Ninja Gaiden games so I have no idea who the characters who kept popping up were (except for Ryu Hayabusa since he's featured a lot in GameFAQ's Character Battles).

sdf

Games I'm Looking Forward To

Wow, there are a ton of games that I'm planning to get in the future (except, I probably won't have enough money). First off, Vampire: Bloodlines still hasn't arrived in the mail. I'll need to check in on that since its taking quite a while.

As for the games that haven't been released that I'm looking forward to there's the recently announced Trauma Center 2 coming out for the DS. Being a huge fan of the original, I can't help but look forward to this! ^_^ I can't wait to see Derek and Angie again with their funky new looks >_> and I can't wait to see the aftermath and side-effects of the destruction of GUILT.

sdfg

Well actually, right now, that's all I can think of that I'm looking forward to >_>

Extra Praise?

Well, here's a story for all of you! Something kind of weird happened to me at school on Friday. Back on Wednesday, our teacher assigned a homework assignment to my c.lass in which we had to pick 3 poems that we liked from this Poetry unit and explain why we liked it. Each poem had to have 1 paragraph dedicated to explaining why it was so good. Of course, I'm sure you all know that I've had a LOT of practice doing that by making reviews on this site and earning myself a Top 100 Community Reviewer Emblem. So I went ahead and did the homework assignment and handed it in on Thursday (which was also the day of my Confirmation). The next day, early in the morning, my teacher called me because she had to "talk with me".

Now, everyone knows that has GOT to be a bad sign so I hesitantly went to her desk and she showed me my English homework assignment and told me to type it out (because I wrote it by hand) because she wanted ti share it with the cla$$ Then I asked her "Why?" but she left before replying >_> so during the Lunch hour, I went ahead and typed it out for her and she approached me once again at the computer room and told me it was so extremely well done and she showed it to one of the French teachers who also happens to have a really great grasp of English and she said it was phenomenal. Of course, I was kind of stunned since this is an everyday thing for me but then I realized that indeed I'm still in Grade 8 and this level of work usually isn't really present in most students at this age.

So sometime in the afternoon, she photocopied it and gave a copy to each student (except me for some reason  I wanted to see my own work too!) without revealing my name and after she read it, my cla$$mates kept making comments saying "Wow!" and "I thought this came from a book!" and stuff like that so she eventually revealed my name and everyone started clapping their hands saying I did a great job. Of course, at this point I was flustered and blushing because I am not used to such praise. So, I guess all my work on my reviews paid off after all! ^_^ Maybe I should be some sort of gaming journalist when I grow up and write all about games and everything since I love writing and gaming and combining my two favourite things together for a possible future career would be just awesome! ^_^

----------

Anyway, that's all for now everyone! See ya all soon! ^_^

Just My Thoughts

Hello everyone! It's good to see you all on this nice fine day! ^_^

Anyway...*gets serious*, you may all find it odd that I am making a blog post on a weekday being the busy person that I am, but I couldn't help but share this with all of you today after seeing it...

http://www.wltx.com/news/story.aspx?storyid=60657&provider=top

The link above shows a news article about an incident that happened in Florida where a group of teenage girls (one of them being a cheerleader) beating up another girl because of something she said on MySpace. Apparently, according to the article, the culprits had beat up the victim in a bedroom until she became unconscious (ouch!). Then she woke up at a sofa where the beatings continued (ouch! again) except this time, the culprits were taking a video because they wanted to share it on Youtube:?

If you watched that video, read the article and fully understood it, then you're probably feeling kind of angry right now. If not, then read this, apparently, when the group that did the beatings were serving prison time, they felt no remorse. One of the girls, a cheerleader said "Does this mean I'm going to miss cheerleading practice tomorrow?" acting as if her cheerleading practice was more important than the issue at hand while the other girls were saying "I guess we won't be going to the beach this weekend" acting as if some stupid trip to the beach was more important than the issue at hand (I haven't even gone to the beach for months!).

Now, honestly, I have to comment on this. I have to say that this is probably one of the most stupid, vile, and evil acts I've seen that isn't part of a movie that was actually done. To think that a bunch of teenage girls (who should be mature enough to know that something like this is completely unacceptable) would think that after doing something like this, that they would be missing cheerleading practice or missing a trip to the beach is really kind of despicable. In my opinion, these girls should be facing at LEAST a year or two of prison time together with the real women after doing things like this. Let's see if that abusive girl in pink still has that smile on her face.

----------

Anyways, yeah, this was kind of a rant :P Sorry for making you all read it but I just felt that I had to voice my opinion on this matter.

Distortions in the Void of Despair

Hello everyone! It is a pleasure to see you all once again! ^_^

Wow, I haven't made a blog post in SUCH a long time! Sorry for not going on quite as much. I really needed to focus on school for the past few weeks. There's only a few months until the end of school and being in Grade 8 (the last year until I enter high school here in Canada), I need to worry about things like Graduation and Confirmation so its been pretty busy! Anyway, its Saturday so I have some free time to make a blog post and communicate with all of you! Hurray! ^_^

Games

Well, of course, the first thing I should talk about are games. Well, after a long wait, the game that I ordered, Endless Ocean, is finally here! It actually came way back in March 20-something so I already finished the game!

efg wrt dfg

It was actually pretty nice. It was extremely different from other games I've played though so don't go buying it just because I liked it! ^_^ Maybe you won't. Anyway, I absolutely loved its graphics, music (some of it anyway), and open-ended underwater gameplay. There were TONS of things to do yet the game never forces anything on you so it is completely possible to go at any pace. I also absolutely loved seeing the underwater giants (humpback whales, whalesharks, giant squids) and exploring underwater caves and ruins. Anyways, the bottom line is that I liked it, and I might make a review for it soon. ^_^

Speaking of reviews, I made a new review for Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. Go check it out! ^_^ If you like the review, feel free to recommend it, if you think the review was bad and could use a lot of work, feel free to give it a thumbs down! ^_^

Also, I've decided what new games I'm going to be getting soon! I said in my last blog that I would get Professor Layton and Apollo Justice for the DS but I changed my mind. Instead, I'll be getting Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Vampire: Bloodlines. You might be wondering why I decided to get Vampire and I'm getting it because one of my friends (who goes by the name of Lenpicka though, that isn't her real name) is raving about it and it certainly looks interesting so...I'm getting it! ^_^

sfgh dfgh

Music

OK everyone, I have some news for all of you! ^_^ I have gotten an MP3 Player. No, not one of those iPods, but a nice and cheap MP3 player! Yaaaaay! Now I can listen to music wherever I go!

I actually got it as a birthday present two months ago but I never got around to using it :P My brother recently reformatted the PC and he installed Limewire. So, I asked him what it did and he said you could use it to download music. That immediately reminded me of my Siren MP3 Player which I never used and so I tried it out and now I can't stop using it >_>. I'm always downloading music, especially music from video games at Galbadia Hotel. Its so addicting and now whenever I do something, I always end up listening to my MP3 Player. Now I know why there was a huge craze for things like this. Anyways...*goes and listens to more music*

----------

Unfortunately, that's all I really have to say right now :( Yeah, not much stuff has been happening soo...yeah.

Here's a random video for all of you.

See ya all soon! ^_^

Sushi

Hello everyone, it's nice to see you all today! ^_^

So, how is everyone today? It's the end of a long weekend for me. I always dread the last days of these long weekends because even if I got to take a few extra days of school, I'm always reminded that I must go to school tomorrow and wake up early! It's quite a dreadful feeling.

ccv

Anyways, I've eaten sushi recently and I never realized how much I absolutely love it! The rice, the seaweed wrapping, their small muchable sizes, I just absolutely love to eat sushi! So, as a result, I also want one of those fabulous sushi pillows in the above picture. Don't you want them too? They look so nice! Although, I'm worried that I might end up accidentally eating them which wouldn't be a pleasant experience.

The Weekend

Also, how was everyone's long weekend? If you are Christian, then you would obviously know that recently was Holy Week and it was recently Good Friday, the Easter Vigil, and Easter Sunday. I had to go to Mass 3 times this weekend and I watched a play on the Passion (Jesus' sentencing, suffering, and death) on Good Friday. The play wasn't really any good, my dad fell asleep while watching it :(

Games

Lately, all I've really been playing is Brawl. I've pretty much unlocked every character except for Jigglypuff and a few others by going and completing the Subspace Emissary. Of course, my all time favourite character to use is still Zelda. I actually tried going online and playing with random people and it was kind of...well, horrible. I had to try 5 times just to get into a match and I had to stay in the practice stage for almost 20 minutes just waiting for 3 other players to go and play with me. Honestly, sometimes I wonder what is up with Nintendo when it comes to online without friend codes. There quite a bit of lag too.

Well, since I really want to try out online at its fullest, I've decided to try and exchange friend codes with all of you! Just post your Super Smash Bros. Brawl friend code on the comments section. My friend code is 3179-5857-5959.

xcvb

I'm also still waiting for Endless Ocean to arrive in the mail. This is taking a long time, I ordered it the same time as Super Smash Bros. Brawl but the latest time it can come is April 4th. It's also one of the games that I really really looked forward to so its a bit of a bummer that it isn't here yet :P Although, once I do get it, I'll make sure to play it nonstop (unless its a school day and I need to do my homework) and create an aquarium with the biggest variety of fish and marine life that mankind has ever seen!

sdg

I'm also thinking of getting Professor Layton and the Curious Village and Apollo Justice as next month's games. I've been looking forward to them for quite a while and they thankfully received stellar scores (except for Apollo Justice but I'm a big Phoenix Wright fan anyways so I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy it).

cvvcvb

Oh yeah, and has everyone heard of the new (rumored) Sonic game that's coming up called Sonic Unleashed? I'm a bit excited for it! Lately, Sonic games have been not that good, but this looks to be a 2.5D experience and we all know that Sega's at their best when making 2D games like they did back in their Genesis days so I'm looking forward to it more than usual. If you're interested, here's a trailer for it!

----------

Well, that's all for today! Sorry for the somewhat short blog, I'm in a bit of a rush.

See you all soon! ^_^

Greetings, I Have Returned

cv

Hello everyone! ^_^ I have returned from my very long trip! I hope you have all been well and it is a pleasure to see you all once again! ^_^

-----

Finally, I have access to internet again! Well, it's nice to have it back! Oh yeah, and for those who asked for pictures of the place I was going to...well, I'm sorry, I completely forgot! It just escaped from my mind and I completely forgot that I was supposed to take pictures! I hope that the Hello Kitty image at the top of my blog will suffice. The scenery pretty much consisted of vast open fields, a few houses, and a road anyway and I think you can all picture that in your head. So, how have you all been? Did anything groundbreaking happen on Gamespot while I was away? Well, you can all tell me about that in your comments! ^_^

My trip was OK. There wasn't much to do though except to eat or read books. Luckily, there were some really interesting books that were there at the house we stayed in. I mainly ended up reading Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul (wow, I can't believe this book is actually on sale for 1 cent on Amazon) by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Jennifer Hawthorne, and Marci Shimoff and The Principles of Success by Jack Canfield since those were the only interesting looking books there. They were both pretty good! I couldn't really relate to any of them too much though since....

1. I'm not a mother.

2. I don't even have a job yet.

but they were entertaining and somewhat inspiring at the same time! ^_^ The Principles of Success could also relate to me very slightly because some of the things in the book can apply to school work.

Oh yeah, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl arrived in the mail yesterday! I finally have it!It's a really great game! I played it with my friends and it was pretty fun! ^_^ The Final Smashes are cool (Zelda, my preferred character's Final Smash does take a bit of aiming though but when it hits, it feels so good!) and there are a huge amount of customization options, features, and collectables! Although, I was disappointed in the Subspace Emissary. I thought Sakurai really was going to put in an incredibly likable single player mode into a fighting game, but it looks like fighting games controls just don't seem to fit in a sidescrolling format and there was barely any story whatsoever. I guess fighting games are destined to be enjoyed to the fullest by multiplayer! Regardless, it's still a wonderful game. Any Wii owner who doesn't resent fighting games should get it! ^_^

----------

Anyways, I'm getting tired right now so...See you all soon! ^_^

Goodbye, I'm Leaving

Hello everyone, it is a pleasure to see you all today!

Wow, I'm making so many blogs now! I've never made this many blogs in a long time because of schoolwork. I just love March/Spring Break! ^_^ Oh yeah, I just wanted to warn you all that I will be leaving to go off on a trip to a place which unfortunately does not have internet. Thus, I will be taking a leave of absence from Gamespot for 3-4 entire days. Yes, I know, you're all incredibly depressed by this news because I know you all cannot go on living without me (just kidding), but alas, these sorts of things must happen. Don't worry though, it's only temporary! I might even be able to take pictures and finally show something to you all! In case you're all wondering where in the world I'm going, I am actually going to go to a place called Chatham here in Canada. My reasoning for going there is completely confidential, but I might be able to take pictures~! Yay! I haven't gone on a trip for so long!

Anyways...onto the stuff that all of you guys love...GAMES!

Well, actually, I haven't been doing much in terms of gaming lately. Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Endless Ocean were ordered but they're not here yet! And I thought I was actually going to have something to do over during my trip! Why must we be cursed with no internet there!? Not to worry though, we rented (wow, we haven't done that in a long time) 5 DVDs. I can't remember them all on the top of my head though. Although I do remember that I picked out the Exorcist. I wonder if it's as scary as some people say. Well, even though all I can think of to do there is watch movies, I'm sure that I can find something else to do.

Since I haven't been doing any gaming, I'll just make this blog about games that I want or am looking forward to getting! ^_^

1. Lost Odyssey

xcv

Yes, this game that is unfortunately, out on a system that I will most likely not get, is probably one of my currently most wanted games. Despite Gamespot`s 7.5 score (which an incredible amount of people disagree with), this game has still gotten a lot of praise for being one of the most polished and refined next-gen JRPGs out there on the market. Apparently, people have praised its story (or side-stories) for being intriguing and mature, with each character`s personal (and sometimes heartbreaking) stories being the main attraction. Certain reviewers have actually praised its gameplay for being fun with its ring building and skill system. Anyway, if I ever do get an Xbox 360, this is one of my top priorities.

2. Professor Layton and the Curious Village

 ccx

Ever since I got the DS and played Phoenix Wright, I`ve fallen in love with the Adventure genre and tried different things like The Longes Journey and it just felt so strange that there was such a genre that I never tried out, but I could like so much! So obviously, I want more, and Professor Layton looks like a great Adventure game! Although, many people do say that it`s more like a puzzle game with a story, but that`s fine with me! Although, I do hear that the people in this game are obsessed with puzzles. I heard that everytime you engage in a conversation with them, they force you to solve a puzzle but luckily, the puzzles look absolutely fun! I also have to give credit to the amazing art-s.tyle and graphics! It looks fabulous! This is definitely something I`m getting in the near future.

3. Disaster: Day of Crisis

vc

To tell you the truth, I haven`t heard of this game for a while. In fact, all that has been recently announced (as in last year) is that the game will be coming out on an unknown date in 2008. However, when I first heard of it, I was absolutely psyched! Monolith Soft, the developers of Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos are making a game for the Wii! In Disaster, your goal is to live through various natural disasters (tsunamis, etc.). An organization has also taken advantage of these disasters and has been able to develop an atomic weapon of mass destruction. So, not only will you be surviving through natural disasters, but you have to overthrow a terrorist organization Metal Gear Solid $tyle! Yay!

4. Fatal Frame IV: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

dg

Ah, the first Wii exclusive Fatal Frame! To tell you the truth, Fatal Frame is probably one of the top horror series out there. I only played the second one but I never finished it because I was too scared to play after some point (I was only like, 9 or 10 at that point, give me a break :P) but I guess that kind of shows how nice it is for a survival horror game! Anyways, the Fatal Frame series is known for having a lot of depth and a really great graphical presentation (the second game had a red color theme, which, although it was bright, resembled blood and gave off a creepy feeling whereas the third game had a somber blue theme which gave the game an ethereal nightmare-ish feeling). The game is also known for its unique camera concept in which you had to take pictures (with the Camera Obscura) of your enemy ghosts to defeat them making you literally have to get up close to them and look at them right in the face which is totally creepy considering some of the enemy`s designs. Sort of like a nightmare version of Pokemon Snap, except with way more story and depth! I hope this game finally proves that the Wii can do survival horror and isn`t just for those pick up and play gamers. Honestly, some people still think the Wii is like that. Even IGN said that the Wii is mainly for casuals in their Fatal Frame 4 Preview. It looks like Trauma Center: Second Opinion Hard Mode and No More Heroes wasn`t enough for them. Anyways, I hope this game will greatly succeed! I`ll be picking this game up too when it comes out! Let`s see if I am any less of a coward then I was when I was 9 years old! :P

5. Patapon

Hurray for Patapon! Pon Pon Pon Pata Pon! The feedback for this game has been absolutely stellar lately! People have described it as being an incredibly mix of rhythm, strategy, and (light) RPG elements. Everyone has been talking about how addictive it is and honestly, the hype machine is working! I can`t wait to get a chance to play this game! I`ll ask my brother to get it for his PSP so I can command my very own Patapon army! Pon Pon Pon Pata Pon!

----------

Well, that`s all for now! I`m getting really tired :P I shall see you all in a couple of days!
