@Frosty192 It wasn't that simple. Some NES games were as low as $40, but most AAA stuff was $50 - $60. In the SNES era, games like FFIII, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Super Street Fighter II (the "big" 32-MB games) were as much as $70.

I love how so many people all of a sudden think that paying $60 for an AAA game is too much money these days. Remember when Super Mario Bros. 3 came out on the NES? $60. Remember when Halo 1 launched with the Xbox? $60. Uncharted 3? $60. Now what if we compare the cost of development for SMB3 to UC3?

My point is the costs of producing AAA games have shot through the roof, but we as gamers have NOT felt the impact. IF it were all relative, we SHOULD be paying $100 for new AAA games. I’m not saying I want to pay that, I’m just saying if you take a step back and look at it from the developer’s perspective, we’re NOT being gouged. Now when it comes to DLC, that’s a whole other topic.

Will we see mega multi-platform games on the Ouya such as Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Assassin’s Creed, Batman, Final Fantasy etc? Most likely not. What about games even close to Uncharted or Halo caliber? Most likely not. Hell even games like Rainbow Moon (which releases today on PSN), Journey, FEZ, Limbo, Braid etc? Possibly, but what kind of QC or support will they have?

It should be called "Oy vey". That's ALL we need is a hackable system running on a non-standardized, fragmented OS with a bunch of low rent, "free" (but we'll make our money nickle & dime-ing you on micro transactions) games.

Will I be able to play Uncharted 4 on this? What about Halo 5? What about ANY multi-platform game of any significance? Sorry not interested.

The market doesn't NEED 4 consoles in the next generation, 3 is already a crowd. This is ALSO why the rumored Steam-box is not a good idea either.

Like I stated in my previous comment, I think a much more feasible, logical model for the next generation of consoles is the way Sony is doing it currently with the PS Vita. Same day digital releases on PSN for like $3.00 - $5.00 less than the retail, boxed copy.

That way I can wake up every Tuesday morning and decide if I'd rather download the game straight to my system or drive to the store to purchase a hard copy. Give us the choice, don't take one away entirely.

This guy is way too extreme. Digital-only works for smartphones because no matter what, you've (almost) always got a network connection of some type, be it 3G/4G or Wi-Fi. There are still however some areas (believe it or not) where you get no cellular coverage and have no Wi-Fi, so I wouldn't be able to download a game to my iPhone in certain mountainous regions.

Perhaps in the next generation after this upcoming one when no corner of the earth is without cell coverage this would be possible, but then again we'd probably have to pay monthly for 3G/4G just like we do now for phones, tablets, PSVita etc.

I think Sony is actually doing the more logical thing with the Vita and starting to do it more and more with the PS3. Same-day digital versions on PSN alongside the retail brick & mortar, boxed copies.

This way the customer has a choice. They can download it and have it instantly, but not have the ability to trade it in, lend it to a friend etc. Or drive to the store, purchase a good old disc/card version which they can trade in towards new games when they're done with them.

This way the poor bastard who has painfully slow Internet or in some cases none at all can still physically purchase the game from a store and enjoy it just as much as the guy with the super-fast connection who downloads it.

I'm not really much of a Nintendo fan anymore but I do respect Miyamoto. And I do think he's right. There are just WAY too many military/war-based shooters on the market. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of Honor, Ghost Recon, Rainbow 6, Brothers in Arms, Sniper Elite, and on and on. These games almost try to make war seem cool, almost glorifying it.

The difference between Call of Duty and Halo is much more than people think. With CoD you're gunning down other human beings for generally political reasons (just like real life). With Halo, you're using sci-fi laser weapons to kill aliens trying to take over the galaxy. Sure they both have guns, but the similarities end there.

This is also why the ESRB ratings system is flawed. How Halo gets the same rating as Grand Theft Auto is beyond me, it's ridiculous really when you consider the content in both games and what the player is allowed to act out vicariously through the game character.

I'm not saying I don't like or play some of these games, but there is an over saturation of them on the market.

@KFHEWUI Right because Tomb Raider had a cover system, the best voice acting in the industry, great story....oh right NO IT DIDN'T. You must be talking about the NEW Tomb Raider which is a complete Uncharted clone :P

@bigbeebis Um no. I seem to remember watching Hulk Hogan throwing guys over the top rope in a 30 man, over the top Battle Royal back in 1988. The Japanese movie was released in 2000.

@R2BDSi Right a system that has sold only 3 million less in one year's less time on the market than the 360? Give your head a shake man.
