For my PC, my load times went from 3 minutes until fully navigable in Windows Vista (with a normal mechanical drive) to 23 seconds in Windows 7 (with a SSD). If you get a SSD, put it in your PC, the performance increase is phenomenal.
Is it just me who gets a little choked up at even the thought of Aerith? Something about that girl left a lasting imprint. FFVII gives Cloud the option to "show interest" in her, but he can't even bring himself to touch her. By the time he holds her in his arms, she is already dead. At least, that's how my memory holds up. I haven't played FFVII in almost 10 years. I don't own a PSP and have yet to play Crisis Core. It really is the epic disbelief that makes the story so good. Of course there will be a FFVII remake. The game would sell millions of copies just about instantly..... not to mention PS3s. Seriously, how much money did Sony toss at Square-Enix to make Crisis Core for the PSP? As a fan of the orifinal FFVII, I pretty much have no choice....
I'm wondering if the Gamespot guys are using some bad hardware to test these things. Before I sold my PSP (thank god), I didn't notice such horrendous load times for Wipeout Pure, Burnout Revenge, or any game I played -- none of them were over a minute.... 45 seconds made me whince in pain. 300 seconds? FIVE MINUTES?! No....
