Free, FREE!!

It's true, FFXI is gone. I officially cancelled my content id's yesterday. There is an odd sense of relief that I feel, knowing that I don't HAVE to log in at a certain time to tend to my gardening...or stuff like that. It's actually kinda nice, plus I can play other online games now since it's not taking up so much bloody time. I'll miss the people that I talked to online in FFXI but the important ones are I still talk to anyways. I'm kinda glad I stopped playing now...

This weekend I plan to play some games that have been backlogged for awhile. I want to finish Fable, Max Payne 2 and get some progress in on Jak 2. I may pick up the new Guilty Gear or ESPN NHL as well. I wouldn't mind getting in some SOCOM II or Pandora Tomorrow online either.

TV sucks lately...between Football and American political debates hijacking normal programming, and no hockey on...I just avoid watching completely. Well, I watch my CSI but that's about it. When Simpsons start up again I'll watch that too.

The End of an Era, and the dangers of women playing games.

It's come to that time, I am quitting FFXI. I just don't have enough time to play it anymore. I can't sit for an hour just to find a party, and then expect myself to put another 2+ hours in to level. I am not going anywhere in the game and I am frusterated. I'm still buying the expansion, because I may or may not go back to it and I have to own every FF game. It sucks to quit but I really don't have much of a choice.

On the bright side, though, it does free up a bunch of time to play my other games that I have been neglecting. I am still playing Fable and enjoying it. However, the girlfriend has decided to play it now, and be a goody two-shoes character. Her rare interest in the game frightens me. She usually doesn't like my games and tends to stay away. Now, if she actually likes it...it may cut back on my playing time. That can't happen.

I should finish Max Payne 2 as well...it shouldn't take long. I am almost done it anyways. I need to pick up Sly 2 as well. I have yet to pick up Tales of Symphonia, so that may be the next purchase. I just don't see myself finishing it before Halo 2 comes out.

Yeah I'm playing it too...

Picked up Fable a couple of days ago. It's pretty good, I expected more though. The story isn't quite as in depth as I would have hoped it to be. It looks nice, but chugs every now and then. The controls, mainly the targeting is a bit clunky but you can get used to it. I just end up giving traders a good thwak on the head every now and then. My character, is quite evil. He has horns starting...quite pale. Once I find a tattoo artist I will be quite evil looking. Dirk (the character) is engaged...once married I will promptly beat my wife (after sex) until she gives me a divorce. I should cheat on her too... Once I get my dowry from her it's all good. I enjoy beating the crap out of townsfolk and stealing stuff from them as well. Quest wise I have to head to Twinblade's camp but I am going to get all the Silver keys before I do that.

Other than Fable, I think I am going to cancel my FFXI account. I barely get to play, and I don't have huge chunks of time to wait for a party and then play. I would like to continue...but I don't think I can anymore. Besides, this will free up a ton of time to catch up on all the other games I have. I should be able to get a couple for Christmas to keep me busy as well.

I am really looking forward to Resident Evil 4. I keep checking up on it to see if new info has come out. I love the story, the atmosphere...everything. It's going to be a good day when I get it. The only other preorder I have now is Halo 2 Collectors.

Save Point

If my life were a game I would save right now. Got the car...all is well there. Got a promotion at work...so that's pretty good as it comes with a much needed raise. Family life is pretty good now...going to my moms house for Thanksgiving, looking forward to that. I don't have to work Christmas OR New Years (had to last year which SUCKED!).

The big boss battle coming up? I have a court date for a couple traffic tickets. I am not too worried but I really don't want my insurance going up. So hopefully that will go well. If it does, I am going to be in pretty good shape for next year. Get my savings in order and I should be buying a house. Problem is when things start going well I get nervous that the whole thing will come crashing down on me. Paranoia at its finest.

I finally bought a car...

It's true. I took the big plunge into lots o debt (moreso) and bought me a car. I am now the proud owner fo a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. VERY low Km (miles to you yanks..) and the previous owner babied the thing. Fully rustproofed since new, power EVERYTHING, Silver with grey interior. I could have actually gotten a Mustang for cheaper than the Malibu...but the insurance was bloody insane...so that was out. But I am happy with it. It should be a good car for years to come.

Another day, Another dollar

...or so it seems. Work is boring, I am sneaking in playing Blood Omen whenever I can. Thinking of getting a new game but not sure what to get.

Here's the list of choices:

Tales of Symphonia
Silent Hill 4
Star Ocean
Front Mission 4
and I may pick up NHL2K5 no matter what I get.

Adventures in car shopping...

So, I find out, I could easily own a Mustang. Crappy thing is...I can't afford to insure the damn thing. Buying a 2001 Mustang, loaded, costs less than the insurance. You wouldn't think so but it does. I hate insurance here in Ontario. It's stupid for the lack of a better word. So right now I am looking at a Grand Prix, a Malibu or possibly a Grand Am but I am not really keen on those. Stupid Practicality.

I hate car shopping.

Boy do I hate car shopping. It annoys me. I hate dealing with car salesmen. I hate looking at cars that look good in ads or online...but end up being total crap when actually see it up front. I hate the fact that people try to sell you these piles and expect a ton of money for them. I hate the whole process. If I had all the money in the world I would ok...then it's just "YOU! Go buy me this car!" and I'd be done with it.

I hate buying a car.

This is what boredom at work leads to.

Me, playing Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen on my pc at work. Yeah I know I'm not supposed to play games...but holy crap was it dead today. Anyways, despite it's awful graphics (by todays standard) I really enjoyed the bit that I played today. Funny how old games can rekindle interest in certain other titles and what not. I figure I will play through the entire LoK series just for the hell of it. I think I will enjoy playing Sould Reaver again the most.

I got so sick of the internet I just stopped. Other than posting here of course. I could not take anymore surfing. So I hit a certain site that has "abandonware" on it and went to it.

I personally don't have a problem with "abandonware". I know some people do but I am not sure how it hurts anyone. I own a copy of Blood Omen for my PS, and I can't find a copy for the pc. If I could find one, believe me, I would buy it. But I am not buying some crap copy off of Ebay just to throw it in and find out it doesn't work. That and if I do get a copy I want the box and everything. (yeah I am one of THOSE collectors).

Holy Effing Gmail!

I CANNOT get rid of all my invites...ever. Now I have another 6 friggin' invites. What the hell, I don't even know that many people in real life! Why do I need over 30 invites?! Dammit Gmail!! no more!
