Microsoft has published a new TV commercial for Halo 5: Guardians that dives deeper into the Master Chief vs. Spartan Locke story for the upcoming sci-fi shooter. As we learned in the last TV commercial, the "official" story in Halo 5 is that Master Chief is dead. But that's not exactly true. This new ad sees Spartan Locke and the rest of Fireteam Osiris setting out to hunt down Chief, who has apparently gone rogue.

This commercial will air during this Sunday's Fear the Walking Dead season finale. Microsoft is buying up premium ad space for Halo this year, as last week's commercial ran during Sunday Night Football on NBC.

Halo 5 launches on October 27 exclusively for Xbox One. You can learn more about the game's interesting-sounding story through the Serial-style "Hunt the Truth" podcast series, the second season of which recently started.

In other recent Halo 5 news, the Seattle Sounders MLS team will wear Halo-branded jerseys in their matchup against LA Galaxy on Sunday. In addition, you can now listen to the game's title song, while Microsoft has confirmed that work has begun on Halo 6.

Meh. Halo's been mediocre at best since MS handed it off to 343i. Hopefully the online works within the first 6 months this time.

@lunchbox2042: Everybody seems to forget Halo 4 worked flawlessly and 343 was focused on Halo 5 at the time, with smaller teams from different studios working on MCC.

And the beta was smooth as butter.

The story will probably be, they think Master Chief has turned on them..but he hasn't, there's something bigger that they aren't seeing but Master Chief does...near the end Spartan Locke will probably realise this. Then they both worked together to take down whatever it is. :P

I just don't get what was meant to be impressive about that trailer? So far all I've seen is a bad story. I know people who like Halo were kids when it came out, but I still don't get why people insist it has a good story. It's like people who love JRPGs... no they're all nonsense, I watch a trailer for Final Fantasy and none of it makes any sense.

It's like 343 wants us to hate Locke. They give him the most cheesy lines. "Let's hunt him down." smh. Hope we get to fight in some levels that include a lot of civilians as shown in this vid. Would be nice for a change.

@corinion: It has a decent plot, I just hope MS do not muck it up, We should had know MC was not dead because MS gave us the plot of the story way back. I believe there may be more to MC turning renegade being everything is not what it seems.
