Leaked Watch Dogs PC specifications state 64-bit OS requirement

Ubisoft's "ultra" specification for Watch Dogs on PC also asks for an Nvidia GTX 670 or Radeon HD 7970 graphics card, and an Intel Core i7-3930K or AMD FX-9370 processor.

Watch Dogs will require PC users to be running a 64-bit operating system, leaked system specs for the game suggest.

No Caption Provided

The specifications, which popped up briefly on Ubisoft's Uplay store before being taken down, were archived by NeoGAF, detailing the 64-bit OS requirement alongside the need for 20GB of hard drive space and minimum, recommended, and "ultra" specifications.

The game's minimum specifications require a DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB RAM, a quad-core CPU, and 4GB of system RAM. The recommended specs are a DX11 GPU with 2GB of RAM, an eight-core CPU, and 8GB of system RAM.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft's "ultra" specs for Watch Dogs recommends over 8GB of system RAM alongside an Nvidia GTX 670 or Radeon HD 7970 graphics card, and an Intel Core i7-3930K or AMD FX-9370 processor.

Ubisoft will released Watch Dogs for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U on November 19. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions will also be available at launch.

@The_Kryptonian Thats the kind of nonsense elitism that makes all the peasantry confused. Owning a mid-level PC still have tons of benefits. I'd rather own a mid-level PC than a console.

Just so - i happen to own what would probably still considered a relatively high-endish pc.

@gufberg @The_Kryptonian Honestly, I'd rather have a mid-level PC AND a console. PCs will never be more than a niche, particularly because of the confusion that you mention, but also due to price VS performance. Honestly, mid-level PC+console has more benefit than either by itself.

PCs give you access to DRM-free indies (the way indies SHOULD be, let's be honest), offering shit-tons of games that emphasize gameplay and story over graphics, along with increasingly amazing emulation (PCSX2 is still just outside the mid level, but in a few years, it'll be right there) and multimedia access unfettered by MS or Sony gating.

Consoles, meanwhile, offer easy access to AAA titles, with physical games still not requiring online checks mostly, and the forces of capitalism bringing game prices down on a more permanent basis after a few months, rather than relying on corporate generosity.

Both have a place, and I'm personally tired of the two sides going at each other's throats like Democrats and Republicans.

agreed any mid range pc can handle 1080 resolution and 60 fps if configured right. Playing on a big screen really shows off the difference vs console. WHY DID HE DELETE HIS COMMENT?

@WICGuardian Some people don't like being exposed for the ignorant asshats they are. I guess The_Kryptonian didn't like gufberg calling him/her out on that bullshit.

damn. Not sure why you need an i7. from everything I have read about the i5 vs the i7 is that the ONLY thing the i7 does is hyperthreading which games DO NOT use. If you have a 3.4 ghz and i7 and i5 lined up next to each running BF3 or BF4 or what ever. It wont make a damn bit of differnce. Photoshop on the other hand, it will make a diffence.

the i7 was BRILLIANT marketing to get an entire generation of people to pay WAY more for the a CPU that they dont need. when an i5 at 100 cheaper will do 99% of the same job.

that cash would be better spent on an SSD where you will see MUCH better performance differnce

I just have recently bought latest i5 haswell. Don´t tell me that devs suddenly decided to use more than 4 cores for gaming. Come on.

About bloody time. Memory is (relatively) inexpensive, and many PC gamers have 8GB just because why not? I think it's about time it actually gets used.

With the consoles having a lot of memory, I'd expect more games to require a 64bit OS. There is pretty much no reason not to have one in this day and age.

@reincarnator07 Considering MS is rumored to be dropping 32-bit for Windows 9, yeah.

@Alves_19 As someone else said, they probably just want to exclude CPUs like the core 2 quads and Phenoms. There is a massive gap in performance between an i7 and a FX9370. If this is the case, they should have just said "requires second gen Core i5 processor or 8 core AMD FX processor".

In all likelihood the '8 core CPU' recommendation is just because quad-core would include alot of older CPUs that probably wont be up to snuff. I'm quite confident that the i5 and i7 quadcores will do great.

@gufberg The i5 and i7s run in hyperthreading anyway so they are effectively 8 core.

@gufberg the strongest i7 (i forget the exact number) runs circles around the strongest 8core AMD so you're right...besides, nvidia doesn't make 8cores yet for gaming PCs

The only thing I don't like is DirectX 11 only. Guess my 10.1 ATI HD 4850 won't cut it. Not that it has 1 GB of RAM anyway...

@czdesigns For the amount of money that would be needed to meet the base requirements, they better have pube physics and individually rendered teeth.

I upgraded my outdated geforce gtx 260 for a Radeon HD 7970 a couple months ago, for the sole reason, that it supports direct x11, and I knew it would be a requirement for some of the newer games.

Not that my PC is anything special, but that little upgrade helps :)

@Xalaze I guess that a gtx-260-era CPU will need to be upgraded too :D that's why I wait and upgrade my whole system.

@Wistful_Gamer @Xalaze

Haha exactly. I got triple channel 6 gb of ram. that should be enough for now, but need to upgrade in not a so distant future. I got an Intel i7 920, 2,67 ghz cpu, first generation. So yeah, I need to upgrade most of my hardware in the next couple of years, when I can afford it.

@Xalaze Thats pretty neat. I imagine the rest of your PC must bottleneck it somewhat if your other hardware was bought with the 260, right?

@Hammershock6 I will put my hand up and admit that I still have 32 mainly because moving everything over to an external HD which I would need to buy would take an extortionate amount of time and nothing has explicitly required me to have 64 until now. All new games run fine :/ Hopefully in a month or two, I can get rid of this 5 yr old PC and build "The Beast" :D

Take note that is for DirectX windows spec. Maybe they will compile for the SteamOS/Linux and use OpenGL. Were you should not need to use the High End components to play in ultra.

I think It would be embarrassing to M$ if the game showed the Linux light OS requirements for same performance using OpenGL.
