GoldenEye remake coming to the Wii in 2010?

Throw in split-sreen and online muti-player and I'll buy it.

The problem is that Goldeneye was amazingly fun back when it was released. But now? Unless its a straight port for nostalgia purposes only...it will not meet today's standards. And if its made by EA. It will suck. If rareware can re-make it badder and better than ever...there is a chance.

Just release Rare's HD Goldeneye on XBLA and Wiiware already .............no-one wants a remake!!!!

I highly doubt this. I don't see them being able to wrest the rights for the game away from Rare (re: Microsoft, who'd need a lot of money to be bought).

Have you every seen a great name butchered? ...I have. It was called Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. I hope they know that they're setting themselves up for failure tenfold by attaching this name to it and simply not calling it a 007. The remnants of Rare don't even reside within Nintendo anymore...I'd love it to be great, but it already reeks of bad ideas. This would seem akin to if Microsoft tried to make an AoE remake without ESO.

I loved Goldeneye on the N64 and I still own it actually. I would definitely pick it up for the Wii. I just hope they are smart enough to add online multiplayer.

I loved Goldeneye but for some reason I dont see this doing well.

True fans, over 18, real consoles etc. can you come up with anything more imaginative than the usual repetitive troll swill? Whether you started playing a game the day it came out or 20 years later has nothing to do with being a true fan; complaining however, proves you're an insecure crybaby about your tastes. Anyway, it's great that Goldeneye is potentially being created and released for the Wii. I'm curious to see the reactions to the game after so much advancements have been made on the FPS genre for consoles.

This is great news for wii owners. But, please support it. I would hate to see another great game not sell well like dead space on wii. But, since activision is involved makes me think twice about it though....

@nini200 listen kid, i bet you never even played or OWNED the original, you must have played it once or twice, all I know is that the true fans which are 18+ now know to move onto REAL consoles like 360 or ps3, youre not a true mario fan either cause u never owned a snes, or an N64, and if you did, you probably owned them YEARS later when they were only $50 HAHA!

This is going to suck. Mark my words. Wait for Tatsunoku vs. Capcom, No More Heroes 2, Metroid Other M and Mario Galaxy 2 (this game alone will kill the PS3 and 360 for good).

@MrHatnClogs OddJob was a beast in multiplayer. I never used him because he was sorta cheating but man, his short height made him a real force to be reckoned with. This will be epic. Yet another title that proves that the Wii has 2010 on lockdown.

OH MY GOD!!!!! This is the best news this year. And it's on it's rightful console. All that say "it should've been on PS3 and 360" are just jealous because the Wii is getting yet ANOTHER great title. i was hoping this would be on xbox live. rather have a great online community with it as opposed to motion controls. but hey! thats just me... and quite a lot of other people from the looks of it .

This game will make me get a Wii

This is one of the best games of its time. If they in fact do bring this game back, Activision better not falter with too much of the game. If they do . . . there will be millions, and I mean millions, of people upset.

I hesitate to call it a "remake" if it's being made by a different company. And I'll bet it's just another Rogue Agent thing anyway, trying to cash in off the Goldeneye name.

While I loved the original, I don't see this remake being very quality.

It doesn't matter if it has the Goldeneye name it will still be mediocre at best but likely crap. \ \ Goldeneye was one of the best games ever. This is nothing more than a cash in that I hope will fail miserably.

GOLDENEYE IS THE GREASTEST GAME OF ALL TIME.lol. in my opinion. Hope that the new one will be good if it happens because the Goldenye for Gamecube was wakk.

@Javierlijandro, To be honest the poor quality of Rare since they moved to Microsoft would make me just a worried about the game been ruined if Rare did make it. Also this could end up been like Rouge Agent, rather than GoldenEye, which would suck even more, either way i doubt this will work, and as a Wii exclusive I doubt there will be online multiplayer and if there is, I'm willing to bet that it will be poor like most online Wii games, even SSBB was bad online.

Don't screw it up Eurocom! Although, I did enjoy Quantum of Solace a lot, especially the multiplayer.

hmm idk if I am happy or upset about it on one side its a amazingly fun game that I can't play anymore because my N64 cartidge is dirty and it gives me a chance to relive some old favorite moments and some childhood memories but on the other hand its a remake not by the original developers and with a remake who knows what will get cut out of the game or not cut I mean look at Ubisoft's remake of TMNT arcade game it was horrible but its only a rumor I geuss time will tell just hope if its true they just update the graphics and A.I. and some online play

If this turns out to be true, we could see a revision of one of the best games ever. To everyone saying a remake will destroy the series, I say, don't judge until you know for sure. A lot of people sure thought Metroid Prime would ruin Metroid as well.

this will destroy what Goldeneye was its purely an N64 title do not ruin it you want to play it buy an Nintendo 64 and a copy of the game and relive the legacy of GoldenEye just don't freaking remake it

huh thats the Wii for you. All it does is copy and paste good games, not make good games. I can't believe this! They shouldn't remake a classic, it will just ruin it, especially now that time has past. I remember writers from game magazines agree that Goldeneye was good at the time, still is if you are playing on your N64 but if they make an updated version, it won't be as any good. Nintendo has got to start making good games soon, they have been thre weakest out of the three systems.

If its not Rare or Free Radical who's making it, I don't care. If you are going to make another Bond game I would probably would like an over stylized mash up of all the Bonds. Make it 4 player coop as one person plays a different Bond and have villians from different movies team up. I think there is a lot of potential there to make it interesting.

Great news to hear! It should come with a free Golden gun peripheral with great acc controll haha I know some people who still play this game and have a great time playing it! Lets hope they don't mess this one up :)

Goldeneye brings back memories. Wow, what a great game! I remember having to plan out every move, just to get the cheats. A new Goldeneye will not meet expectations. The greatness of the original is too much to surpass. I huge responsibility is at hand. They may as well start thinking about making a new franchise that can catch on, instead of revisiting games we've already played.
