EA's Humble Origin Bundle offers Dead Space 3 for $1

New pay-what-you-want bundle allows you to set your own price for Dead Space 3, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Crysis 2, Medal of Honor, and Burnout Paradise.

The latest Humble Bundle, the Humble Origin Bundle, allows customers to pay what they want for six EA games.

No Caption Provided

Customers can pay a minimum of $1 for Dead Space 3, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Crysis 2: Maximum Edition, Medal of Honor, and Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box. Those paying above the average--$4.74 at time of writing--will also receive Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3: Starter Pack, which contains The Sims 3 and expansions Late Night Expansion Pack, and High-End Loft Stuff.

All games can be redeemed on Origin, and everything but Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3, and The Sims 3 can be redeemed on Steam.

At time of writing, the Humble Origin Bundle has so far made $3.2 million. EA itself is taking none of the money, instead opting to give all proceeds to charity. Customers can choose to allocate their donation between five charities: Human Rights Campaign, Watsi, San Francisco AIDS Foundation, American Cancer Society, and American Red Cross.

All of the games require a Windows PC, with the exception of The Sims 3, which will also run on Mac.

The Humble Origin Bundle will be available until August 28.

@arqe Can you keep both at the same time, use one give the other away or activating one blocks the other? How does it work?

@Saladudo @arqe You get both steam and origin versions and you can activate the games on both of them, of course excluding BF3, DS3 and Sims 3 that are origin only

Only because it is for charity that I contributed to the bundle but as it stands, EA can stay with their Origin codes because I have no plans on using that digital distribution service.

The bundle is nice, got Dead Space 3 out of it and gifted everything else to my friends. Happy to see more and more publishers doing this.

Why would I pay more than 1$ if I dont have to? Charity is nice and all that but Im not rich and I got my own loved ones to take care of.

Origin? - No thanks.

Also wasn't Dead Space 3 riddled with micro transactions, they should of been giving the thing away for free since launch if they ram it with micro transactions.. and Fifa 13, I actually bought Fifa 13 - Sim City may have been a complete flop but at least I didn't hand over a months rent in micro transactions to play the game after I paid £45 for it.... hmm.. Well, I've gone off on a tangent, EA suck.

@Blank2k2 It's funny because people was like you at start when Steam came too. "Steam? No thanks. Valve suck."

Stop being such a naive.

@Blank2k2

No, the microtransactions were as good as nonexistent in Dead Space 3. If you're one to do even just a little, though some searching in the environments of a game, you'll get more than you need. All the microtransactions stuff is merely for those that really, really, really don't want to wait to have things upgraded, but throughout the 20 hour campaign, you'll get a bunch of fake money to get those same exact items.

So really, there's in fact no good reason to purchase them with real money since it's so easy to get those items as you search through the environments as you go through the game, or buy them with the fake money you gain once you return your bots to the work benches. It does have the typical DLC though from previous games, so you can buy suits; guns and Awakened.

If someone has never played Dead Space 3, you can complain about other stuff, like it not being horror and what have you, but microtransactions is not an aspect, in that game at least, to find complaints about. Sure, the idea of it being in there, and it being abused in the future of games is somewhat scary, but in DS3, it just doesn't bombard you with it, to the extent you could hardly notice it.

@Blank2k2 You get two copies of each game, you get an origin key and a steam key. If you don't want it your loss they sold half a million copies in the first 3 hours

The only one in that bundle that I would otherwise be interested in is Dead Space 3. Alas, even at that price there's no effing way I'm going to install Origin on my PC.

@Seth_Defiler @WereCatf That means that I probably won't be playing EA games in the future, then. Luckily there are plenty of publishers out there other than EA.

Nothing against this bundle or anything
But can we assume now that the humble bundle is definatly not about Indie games anymore ?
