All The EA/Origin Access Free Games

EA's subscription service offers dozens of free games.

[Updated August 17 with more Origin Access games]

Electronic Arts' Xbox One subscription service, EA Access, launched in August 2014 with four free games, including FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2, and Battlefield 4. Since then, EA has added dozens more and launched a version of the service on PC called Origin Access.

We've now rounded up all the freebies into lists, which you can see below. We will update this post in the days, weeks, and years ahead when more games are added. EA has vowed never to remove any games from the "Vault" of freebies. "I think one of the key things is that once a game goes into the Vault it stays there, it's not going to be taken out, that's a commitment we've made," Peter Moore said.

No Caption Provided

No version of EA Access is available on PlayStation 4. According to Sony, the service does not offer the kind of value PlayStation fans have come to expect. That being said, Sony maintains that it is open to having a dialogue with EA about how it might be able to bring EA Access to PS4 someday.

In addition to free games, EA/Origin Access members can play some games (but not all) ahead of launch; most of the time, subscribers get a five-day headstart. Another benefit is that subscribers save 10 percent on all EA digital content, which knocks down the price of a $60 game to $54.

The service costs $5/month or $30/year.

@casshan01: A key feature of EA Access is that no game is ever removed from the vault. This is great for most games, but for sports games, it kind of bloats the list a bit.

I like to look at the list as only including the most recent year of sports titles. When you look at it this way, you only have about 22% of the available games being sports titles. I have included UFC 2, SSX, and Skate 3 as sports titles in that calculation. If you removed those as well as the PGA game, as those don't really get annualized versions, your % of sports titles drops to just over 11%.

Madden 15 was added in March of 2015. While it would now appear that that game has no value to anyone, it was a nice addition to the vault when it was added about 6 months after its initial release.

I have stopped buying sports games since EA Access came out. I now wait for them to hit the vault, which generally occurs about 6 months after release. I've been a subscriber since it came out, so going on 3 years. At $30 a year, I've definitely been able to take advantage of the service.

@casshan01: I don't know, was that a particularly bad Madden title?

Addendum: according to my calculations, only 37.8% of the available games on the EA Access service are Sports Games, but I didn't take Racing Games into consideration. The amount corresponds to 17 titles out of a total of 45. I agree that's an excessive amount, but it's far from 80%.

Mostly regurgitated annualized sports titles that make even forza rehashes look fresh and a flood of last gen titles. Yeah, that's an excellent deal.

@Myron117: Actually XBL is 50 50. The 360 games are yours forever free with receipt. PSN is full out rental service. Not Xbox Live.

Also Xbox Live was a online paywall subscription service before it offered free games. There for technically the games are additionally free given that fact. I've paid for Xbox Live every year since 2002 and nearly 5 years ago they started offering free games with the already paid for service to compete with PS3 PS Plus service.

I would join this for $30 a year, looks like good value and there are a lot of games in that list I would play.

Important question though... Those "free" games, do they include the DLC for free too? Like if I play Mass effect 3, will I be able to install all the stupidly expensive (but good) DLC?

@Thalandor: Just want to point out that it matters if the free game is the ultimate editions or not. Currently ME3 and BF4 are ultimate editions which means all the DLC come with them.

Fun fact: EA access isn't free so, no, those games aren't free. They're a nice bonus, but still not actually free. That would be like saying a "buy 1 get 2" promotion is giving you something for free. It's not; That latter is actually a 50% discount.

@heqteur: Who ever said EA Access is free? However, once you have subscribed to EA access, the games are free. You don't own them but as long as you have EA access it is yours.

It's actually good value for money if you are going to sit and play the battlefield/Titanfall/EA sports and racing games.

@jako998: They probably make the libraries a bit different on purpose so they can try to get people to sign up for both. Honestly, I would probably do so if they offered a bundle for say, $50 a year. They don't even offer an annual sub for pc, which is just dumb.

Why don't you update the Origin Access list?

Mirrors Edge Catalyst, Star Wars Battlefront, Ultima I through IX, Wing Commander I through IV, plus Privateer, Populous I and II, and Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 should be added.

So glad I got Origin Access. It's a great deal.

I'm hoping to slowly migrate from Bnet to Origin as my 2nd main DRM application behind Steam (WoW is still too "habit-forming"!).

Tho honestly, I havent PLAYED on steam in a while. Just keep it up to chat and check deals lol.

It is a good value, but if you can find a game, without Origin client, then it would be an even better value even if you have to pay more. A client should not leach background resources after the game starts.

Really good value, 4 euro a month is nothing.. I have a ps4 and I only got an xbox one to play Horizon 3, but now I have a massive library of games(granted some of them aren't great) on my xbox. Playin UFC2, Titanfall NFS etc. wouldn't buy these, but might hang on to this for 4 or 5 months til I get bored with em, it'll only cost me 20 euro Not exactly a bank breaker. Well recommended for anyone who has very little cash to spend on games.
