360 GTAIV most-rented game of '08

Not surprising, GTA4 was a really solid title across all platforms.

SoNin360, I agree. Well, I've played all of the free roam games on the 360 and I think SR is the best.

just goes to show that ps3 games are not even good enough to rent. GO AMERICAN COMPANY'S MICROSOFT.

It's directly related to the amount of consoles sold and games wanted. It would be interesting to see a comparison of rented games for each console, rented games to consoles sold ratio, it would probably be similar for both the X360 and PS3 and the Wii probably last. @ Gedthegeek I saw the X360 and PS3 versions of GTAIV on sale for $30 the other day.

The PC version of GTA 4 costs $29. I guess the PC version which has sharper textures cost less since it has been around for almost a year in other consoles.

I definately agree with halo sniper. I should have rented GTA4 instead of wasted $60 on it. However, I though Vice City was the best game. Although San Andreas had the best gameplay mechanics out of all GTA games, Vice City had the best story (or should I say the only one with a real story).

Really that's a bad thing. Wish I rented the game to and did not buy it sucks after a couple weeks. I still play San Andreas blows gta 4 out of the water.

Games cost $ but as long as one doesn't buy games constantly, $60 isn't that much if one has a job.

That's a predictable list.

What it means is that know one cares about renting or buying ps3 games, they didn't make the top 10 rented and they barley make the top ten software bought on the npd month to month. Dont be in denial.

Ultimately I just didn't enjoy GTA, I wish I could be one of the people on this list instead of one of the many with a dusty copy on his shelf.

PS3 game are always worth to buy..thats all.

MGS4 is basically a movie in which the developer holds your hand and drags you through WAY too much dialogue interspersed with far too brief but INTENSE combat sequences. It's too bad that every iteration of MGS seems to feature less gameplay and more movie, which is really pretty sad considering the potential of the series on the PS3/360. I'm sure the main reason MGS4 didn't show up on this list just has to do with sheer numbers, a lot more people have 360s and Wiis at this point in the game. But if MGS4 is your thing, and it's not on some random internet list, then no big deal, right?

GTA are you serious? Such an overrated game and series IMO.

This doesn't mean anything really. I'm not defending Sony or anything. My opinion is just because xbox leads in rental. Doesn't mean the PS3 is bad.

Well I don't necessarily feel bad about not seeing any PS3 titles on this kinda list, LOL. But really, I'm with a lot of others on this--I've never really been much a game renter--though I've had a GF membership before (and for quite a while). To be honest renting to me makes me feel like I have to rush through to play something and truthfully those are the games I never get to finish (most of the time) or get into like I want (quite a couple of Silent Hill games come to mind...); and as other have mentioned being constantly hooked on the rental bit ain't cheap. Plus, I don't know--maybe this is just me--but I also can't get into game somehow if I know it's got to be returned or something like that. All that time and hassle, I just as well research it, decide if I want, and buy it (or not). I would guess it not really much stats on PS3 rental because most games that are multi have originally been on the PS platform--like GTA, for example. So most PS3 owners either know (from playing previous GTA titles) when it came out they were definitely gonna get it (if they liked the series) or not (if they didn't). I guess if you own a Xbox brand you may not have ever played a GTA game (or if had a PSOne or PS2) renting maybe the way to go. That's probably one of the bigger reason for a higher rental rate. But I'm w/ Adam_the_Nerd on this one, when is being the most-rented game a good thing? Wouldn't one want to be most sold?

Well, it's true. And the 360's attach rate is not THAT much higher than PS3.

It's also the most overrated game of 2008.

Before even opening this I knew PS3 only owners would be touting how PS3 owners buy games instead of rent them. So that would be why 360 also has the highest attach rate of games to console ratio.

@ Marked_Man Are you kidding me? Do you honestly believe people bought Warhawk and MotoStorm?? and you say PS3 is bringing in more revenue? Now tell me how Halo 3 is one of the top selling games of all time AND on of THE most rented. Please with your amazing logic and wisdom tell me how they are bringin in more revenue. Rental sales alone probably dominate PS3 game sales.

If Sony could just PLEASE release a full version Gran Turismo already, then they could see an exclusive up there. Still waiting for GT5 (full version) before buying a PS3...

I think that this demonstrates that a lot of people are really interested in the achievements and not actually playing the game. Although some games really should only be rented.

Wouldn't you want to be most-sold, not most-rented? haha. I agree though; the price of renting for more than a few days meets or exceeds $10. Now it's great if you want to play some 7 hour long game, but honestly, it's pricey. Just watch some videos, read some reviews, and make your decision; buy or no buy?
