Super Empire Strikes Back on the Super NES. If anyone here (besides me) beat the Cloud City level on Jedi Difficulty... Props to ya! That's one of the hardest levels I have played in any 16-bit era game. Jedi Difficulty was near impossible for me.

I'd say the KOTOR games as i am mostly an rpg gamer. I also have a special spot in my heart for SWTOR and X-Wing.

@GH05T-666: I liked the original Battlefront games, but honestly, they all seemed a little empty as FPSs. The new on is similar in that. While the new one looks better, the older ones, if I remember correctly, if there were not enough players, would fill in the empty slots with bots. I miss that in most FPS games.

Episode 1 Racer

Jedi Power Battles

as far as most bizarre cheat code, I'd have to give that to Dash Galaxy and the Alien Asylum on NES. You had to unplug the controller from port 1 and slowly slide it into port 2 and the code would activate.

I really loved the force unleashed! it really shows you what a sith can do with his powers. and the only star wars game that got me excited to buy it by watching trailers and gameplays.

Edit: I forgot, my avatar is the apprentice xD

@kenundrum7: could have cried at the second one. I bought it on the day of release after playing a demo... completed it in under three hours and it didn't even have a decent ending.

@CruiserCaptain: and what we got was an stupid fancy interactive tech demo with over-priced DLC and NONE of the things we loved from the previous games. the game did not match the hype at all. EA ruins yet another franchise.

KOTOR 1&2, the original arcade vector graphics game Star Wars, and X-Wing vs TIE Fighter were the best at their time of release. KOTOR stills holds a very special place in my gaming memories though.

After a lot of careful consideration I think I have to go with Jedi Knight II: Outcast

The only Star Wars game to have ever nailed the lightsabre combat. (Although you had to put in some console commands to get the full effect.)

@Shunten: yes, the lightsaber combat is somehow the only thing I remember, along with some console commands ... but no idea what the levels or enemys looked like ^^

Shadows of the Empire for the N64 for sure, there was something about taking your character and walk in a 3D Star Wars universe for the first time, all SW games to date takes a piece from that game in some way.

I know it was brought up as a joke, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for Rebel Assault 1 and 2. : p

And I totally remember that ridiculous Shadows of the Empire code! You looked like a real doofus getting it to work, but it gave you a ton of crazy options.

@king_quaps: It totally sounded like something somebody made up (like all the urban myths about how you could make Lara naked in Tomb Raider), but once you used every finger, thumb, and your chin to activate it, you pretty much had Game Shark level cheat options.

outcast and r.commando were great games I remember, but they were themed FPS games

but as a real star wars game, I have to say SWTOR ... just downloaded it for my yearly visit, while its totally dumbed down now as an RPG ... but u can create any caracter u want from the universe, visit a lot of places and planets, have a myriad of items to cusomize the look and feel and its all authentic to the bone ... no, u can really create a wide variety of the coolest SW caracters and put them into action ...

Hard to pick "the best". I have fond memories of several.

- Shadows of the Empire (first 3D game that made sense to me, and those speeder chases nailed the feeling)

- X-Wing Alliance (best Star Wars space flight sim that I've yet played; wish Robert Space Industries could make a Star-Citizen-engine-driven Start Wars demo)

- Rogue Squadron II (played the crap out of that)

- Pod Racer (played the crap out of that)

- Republic Commando (amazing clone characters pre Clone Wars, excellent squad command, POV of a soldier and not a Jedi)

- The Force Unleashed (sadly short and took liberties, but still very good)

- Knights of the Old Republic 1 (no explanation necessary)

- Jedi Knight 2 (environmental puzzles, immersion into a single, powerful-but-not-invincible dude)

So...many Star Wars games :). But NOT A SINGLE MOVIE TIE-IN.

@amdreallyfast: Dont you think that jedi academy was better than jedi knight?. You get to be a jedi the whole game, and you fight more siths than in jedi outcast. I agree with the other ones, except X-wing alliance and rogue squadron i never played them. when you said pod racer you meant star wars racer?

@habeasdata: "Dont you think that jedi academy was better than jedi knight?" No. You got to customize your character a little in Jedi Academy, but the customization came at the loss of a fleshed out character. I got to play a dude. A generic jedi-ish dude. I don't particularly care about playing as a jedi. I do care about a good protagonist like Kyle Katarn, which I got in Jedi Knight II but not in Jedi Academy.

"when you said pod racer you meant star wars racer?" Yup! Framerate got a little low sometimes, and some of the races were boringly long (Boonta Eve full 6min laps, anyone?), but overall I have fond memories of it :).

@dojoschffr: If you really want them, you can get DRM free PC versions of all 3 of those games and a lot more Star Wars games on GOG.com

With how old those games are now, they would run on even low end modern PC's at max settings.

In case your interested: http://www.gog.com/games##search=star%20wars&sort=bestselling&page=1

@bignick217: I think he was saying that he would buy them if they were re-mastered. They aren't, so he might not be interested. I'm not.

I would, however, be very interested in re-mastered versions, and for Republic Commando, I would like to see that campaign lengthened significantly and see the addition of co-op. That game was begging for co-op, but sadly it didn't happen :(.

MAYBE IF I TYPE LOUDLY ENOUGH AND IN ALL CAPS THEN DISNEY INTERACTIVE WILL HEAR ME AND COMMISSION A RE-MASTERING OF THESE GAMES

I haven't played any Star Wars game except for SW Battlefront 1 and 2, which I've played for 6 YEARS (I moved on with the ps3 on 2010). They are definitely on my top 5 favorite games of all time. It's a shame that the reboot disappointed me in so many ways.

@kenundrum7: depends how you played them. I used to co-op with my mate and we had a strategy for space battles which involved me flying him onto the enemy ship where he'd attack from the inside and I'd fly back out to take out the external stuff. The fun part came from my stupid flying, doing barrel rolls into the hangar for example. My mate hated it.

I certainly haven't played all of the SW games, but Jedi Knight II Jedi Outcast is one of my favorite games of all time. I remember the PC online community and the online etiquette. No damaging another player unless they have their saber out! Man that game was good.
