I may pick this up or I may just wait another 4 or 5 years to get back into MMOs when things are hopefully going to be a lot more evolved and different..This game looks fun though so I may get into it since I've always been a PvP lover
People have this idealized version of how WOW was when it released. WOW at release had lagg, lagg spikes, random disconnects, slow down, server crashes, quest bugs, and loot bugs. Now when a game comes a long in a long time that is relatively free of this, we have people comparing it to some mythical standard that never existed. Wrath of the Lich King is also going to suffer from these same things after release. I have been playing WOW from day one and every patch and the last epansion brings days of headaches with poor follow up and customer service.
To the curious and the naysayers- It's easy to want to compare this game to WoW because ultimately that's the common denominator for most of us when it comes to MMO's (even though some of us have been playing MMO's long before WoW). Unfortunately, it's not really fair to compare a newly released game to one that has been out since 2004 and is going on its 3rd expansion. Remember Mythic has been in the MMO business longer than Blizzard, and WoW's success and popularity came from taking what worked and was successful in previous MMO's and put them into the Warcraft world. That said, WAR is the first game in a long time that CAN and WILL compete with WoW. I believe that the hardest thing for most WoW players is to leave behind a game that they have put countless of hours into and deal with bugs that are in ALL new MMO's (even though WAR does have it's act together unlike AoC) You can get into the game, and do everything you want on your own time. PvE, PVP, crafting, scenarios (battlegrounds). It's all there. If you played WoW you will know the drill, but then again, this game IS DIFFERENT. Why would you want to play just another WoW? One major thing that WAR has unlike WoW (among many things) is a re playable end game which will be epic and playable over and over again. Give the game a chance, you'll be surprised at the depth this game already has at release, and if you can't handle change and a new game you can stick to WoW and it's expansions.
I haven't been into CB. I played the released version for a while and I don't think this game is very well polished. There are a bunch of, imo, "broken" systems that could uses some more polishing thus avoiding all the frustrations. There is no way you can survive in the world of WAR without a lot of interaction with others. ANd if you have a bunch of friends playing WAR at the same time and is able to form a balanced group together (3-5ppl) , you can rock through a lot of contents in a much faster pace than a group in WoW.
I've been playin it a lot the last couple of days and i think it's pretty good. As far as I can tell it's taken the best of WOW and just added some little touches and improvements. If you like WOW but you've gotten bored with it this game will definitely be good for you. The thing I don't like is that you can't have good guys and bad guys, for lack of a better word, on the same server. But that's the only thing I saw that I didn't like... so far.
don't believe bald and fat man says. i trusted him on age of conan and bought the game which is a very big mistake =( he always exaggerates things. The game not looks bad on video, but if you will trust that bald and fat man and thinking about to buy this game, my advice to you is think again. I'll probably buy the game after 5 6 months later i guess if it is still alive. I like to play a MMO game in a long time, not just for a mounth like AOC.
and just to say i stopped playing wow in aug and i only just recently got a two month subscription, but after that expires i think im done wow for good
yea i wouldnt go bashing this game, I started playing WoW in June, i mean its a good game, but whats the point in continuing to play once you reach 70 cap? sure i mean some people may go on now to get ready for Lich King, but when i played back in june-july there were lvl70 horde who had nothing better to do than gank low level players such as myself, when you reach lvl 70 and soon to be lvl 80, i think i can safely say youve played the game long enough to just stop and go play something else.
All the WoW fanboys need to stop bashing Warhammer when they havent even played it. Blizzards lazy and never do anything but collect thier 15$ a player per month. Not to mention all the other $ they make for player transfers. For doing absolutley nothing. WoW is boring and repetative, I am looking forward to the PQ's the RVR and everything in this game looks actually FUN not the boring, cant wait to get to 70 so i can be bored grind.
WOW is better always will be #1, guaranteed WOW2 will be released in 2014 10 years after the original, if WAR does somehow beat WOW, WOW2 will reclaim the crown.
Great job guys I would like to see more Discussions in the future. Every MMO has bugs in WOW my Gem in my helm didn't work for a whole year and my War charge still bugs sending 5 feet though my opponent from time to time, so no real big deal.
Yes they're bugs random disconnects every once in awhile, but lag for the most part only happens when we fight huge order in RVR. Even then if you can always turn down the setting if your comp can't handle it. Major difference between this and Wow, I could actually play the damn game. IF anyone remember's WoW's launch the game was damn near unplayable, constant rollbacks, emergency shudowns, sitting for hours maybe even a day. When they try to figure out what killed their server where there was no pvp going on. I guarantee you Lich King will have bugs, probably as annoying as War's but for a launch this game is pretty damn smooth compared to WoW. Stop trying to bash a game everyone know's you're bias against and didn't play. I left WoW because PVP was the 3 same with bg's and anything else to do took too damn long to get anywhere.
Guys, this is not a review. It should be immediately clear that this is a first impressions video prior to review to give you an idea of what the experience has been like so far prior to the review. It is not meant to be comprehensive, but rather a top level impression. We may or may not experience more bugs, and while we're enjoying ourselves thus far, we wait for the review to pass on our fleshed-out opinions on the the various aspects of the game. If you've scoured every piece of information out there and/or played the beta, of course this discussion may not have more information than you're already privy to. For everyone else, they're wondering what the game is like prior to review, and rather than do a typical first impressions video as we usually do at the end of the first week, we decided to do our little round table instead.
He mentioned that the game has small bugs, but he failed to mentions how many it really has. You literally cannot count them all on all your fingers and toes. It has dozens and dozens of small annoying little bugs. They range between the drop dead bug, to the cannot attack target bug. The lag on the game is also still a big issue. I recommend waiting a few months.
I was really hoping that this would be their OPINIONS on the game. It turned out to be people who are not as entertaining as Paul telling me exactly what has already been said. It's very rare to find reviews by professionals that point out bad things and why you MIGHT NOT LIKE THE GAME. It's always just good stuff about it unless the game is just terrible. I want to hear about the problems so I know what I'm getting into I want to know if it's feels like it will last a long time or it will become boring in less than a year unless they add a lot of new content.
I have played wow , now im playing this game and anyone that says its a copy of wow has not played the game and given it a chance because with rvr, PQ and all the other stuff this game packs a punch, its a sleeper
It's still the same as the rest of mmo. Should not be compared to mmo's thats been long before released. Rather compare it with the recent releases of mmo and the incoming mmo of this time.
From this discussion I've really changed my mind about this game and I kinda starting to like it. I think the wall I've built around this game is starting to fall apart and maybe I will move to this game from WoW. I've been playing WoW since it came out and I really think that I need something new even though the expansion (WotLK) is coming soon. I need to think a bit more about it :D.
Um, no. I stopped reading your comment before you even finished the first sentence. It takes the sieges from their previous game, Dark Age of Camelot. Know what you're talking about before you say it, otherwise you'll end up sounding completely stupid. And you do.
Well it takes the sieges from Lineage combined with WOW graphics+ui etc. The animations are laughable as well. People get blinded from the hunger for a new great MMO. I can understand that but come on... We need something different. The formula has been the same for a decade.
It's a shame that they didn't do anything original, just made a stock-standard MMO with Warhammer flavour. Anyway, good discussion, interesting to hear.
i love WoWs impact on everything. the first 2 minutes of this video you hear WoW like 20 times rofl. this game looks cool but im more antisocial at these games, id rather solo then do public quests and dont care too much for pvp..
Please, let's not forget that the whole WarCraft world is a blatant clone of the Warhammer world, which is much older. You can't blame WAR for looking like it does. You can't expect them to change their own look just because someone else copied it and made it into a successful game before they did.
