The original resident evil was a good name as it implied evil resided within the house it was set since the first game it doesn't make as much sense but still sounds good. I think resident evil sounds better than biohazard but then I have grown up in a word were resident evil is a cool game and biohazard is something written on a safety sign so could be biased.

Not arguing for it but could bravely default not be taken as bravely normal. That could also have various contexts like it's harder to be normal than different which is an interesting idea or could be like a flash gordon thing where someone normal in one reality is a brave hero in another. Just a thought.

Great final pick though to me that name just says 'cash in game avoid' lol Can't think of a really bad video game name but everytime I try I just think 'snakes on a plane' while not a game defo deserves a mention lol good vid cheers.

Resident Evil didn't seem a bad name. It doesn't make sense NOW, but when the first game came out, it seemed sensible when talking about a house (or mansion) with this unseen evil. Less a bad title for a single game, and more a title that doesn't fit a broader franchise.

Considering you have options of "Brave" and "Default" in Bravely Default, it makes perfect sense. Experiencing the game explains that title.

Biohazard would have been a better name, but since that was already copyrighted by a rock band of some description, that wasn't really an option.

As for Resident Evil, I believe that was a mistranslation of what should have been "The Evil Within", which is actually Mikami's new Survival Horror. A game named properly both for its content and for its heritage.

It's a tossup between "Family Guy the game" and "Worst Game Ever" by adultswim.

I know the name means sense and you can expect what you're getting yourself into but i thought. 'Alfred the Chicken' was a pretty strange name for a game back in the day. Not something i'm craving to pick up and play.

Resident Evil : Living evil? Makes pretty good sense to me. I also feel like I've heard it as a biblical term. Also, default can be a noun...seems like they are just spouting crap to make an article out of nothing.

While I think that Biohazard would have been a better title, I don't think 'Resident Evil' is that bad. I think what they were trying to put across is that the evil was a permanent fixture, rather than transient. Its not great, but I think there are worse names that didn't make it to your list - Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid for example. Talking of MGS, you could do another Gist on dumb character names. Anyhow, great show!

Well I think Resident Evil makes sense since the first title was based in a big mansion in which the residents were evil.

Biohazard would have been a much more fitting name for Resident Evil.
