@Allicrombie I may have missed something in the demo, but I find it incredibly difficult. I expect the consumer release to have a more thorough tutorial in place, but I get 1-shot by just about anything if I don't go full brave to start the fight.
@bassjunkee @Allicrombie I had a similar issue, and then realized I hadn't set jobs to the characters. Knight, White Mage, Lancer and Swordmaster. Then all the battles leveled out. Also make sure you are doing things "in order" based on the townsfolk missions.
@Dannystaples14 Buy a 3DS, the Zelda GOTY, Fire Emblem, and this game. You'll be staring deep into the 3D greatness of your parallax barrier autostereoscopic display for hours.
@bassjunkee I HAD a 3DS but got so bored of it being sat there doing nothing for months, I figured it would be better to gets its worth in cash and put it towards a Vita instead. I've played more on my Vita over the last six months than I did in the entire year or more I had the 3DS.
3D is great until you need to do any even reasonably complex task. Like in Zelda Ocarina of Time. It was fine in the villages and things or when up against lesser enemies but as soon as you get into a boss (the cool parts that would be best in 3D) you were so hectic on the screen the chances of you keeping the sweet spot was so slim it was almost pathetic. And because the sweet spot makes the screen break up into two and three images more often than not the 3D was more a hindrance than a good thing.
@blaznwiipspman1 @gtam21 @PosiTVEMinD355 Yeah Nintendo stopped appealing to me quite a long time ago. Wouldn't mind playing Pokemon X and Y since you can't fault that they are fun RPGs but there really isn't much else for me.
I mean even as far as Need for Speed on Vita which is an average game as games go was much more my thing. I'm working my way through Final Fantasy games which by themselves will likely fill much of the next few years knowing Final Fantasy games.
If Borderlands 2 comes out on it I'll definitely be getting that. There are some other RPGs knocking around that look awesome as well.
Bravely Default and Pokemon are basically the only two games I can hold my hand up and say I would definitely give them a go but that isn't worth the cost of a 3DS for me.
Interesting you would say that, I also had a vita and I had the exact same experience as you. The vita was so damn boring that I had to sell it for $200 including 5 games on kijiji. I didn't want to sell the vita since it had pretty decent hardware, but when the games suck that bad, theres nothing else to do with it except watch it collect dust. Mine was collecting dust for 6 months before I sold it. Literally the only game that I enjoyed was p4g, and that game which is a typical atlus game has extremely boring grinding that gets worse as the game goes on. I guess different strokes for different folks. I would not buy a vita again even if it were sold for $100.

The only game I was anticipating getting was Pokemon X and Y.
Games are supposed to sell hardware but when there is only two games you even slightly like the look of why would I want a £130 paper weight?
@Dannystaples14 @PosiTVEMinD355 Isn't the whole point that games sell hardware. So.. if you want the game you need the hardware. So.. how it's supposed to be?
Never really been into handhelds until the 3DS. Sure I played my DS and PSP a lot but I was always a console gamer at the end of the day...until I got my 3DSXL
@PosiTVEMinD355 I've owned three handhelds, I owned the Gameboy color and then bought the 2DS with Pokemon X and Y after wanting to play Pokemon and in December I traded in my 2DS and upgraded to a 3DS XL which is fantastic.
It will be another 13 years before I upgrade my handheld just like I did with the Gameboy Color lol.
I find it interesting that they tried to smooth over the fact that it uses a traditional story and a traditional battle system. People must really hate going on quests to save the world and grinding in turn based combat these days. I could spend weeks/months playing games like Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, and Legend of Zelda when I was younger.
It seems I'm going to miss this little gem because I don't have a 3DS and I don't plan to get one any time soon, and secondly I don't care for jrpg anymore. I used to love Final Fantasy but Square Enix for the past 10 years really helped me overcome my addiction with rpg.
No offence to any JRPG fan out there, but what's up with Japan and dumb titles? Bravely Default - what the hell does that even mean? And I wager it makes no sense in japanese either.
@xsonicchaos lol It's a reference to the Brave and Default battle system that is in place, but yeah for a title it really does suck. It's one thing to note a battle system, it's another to name the game with it.
@19James89 @Coren_Larken Sorry...I guess na could also mean not applicable. I meant North America, and the second part was saying it's supposed to be awesome, and its already out in the UK.
