I am a fake American

Politico

Rep. Robin Hayes (R-N.C.) has conceded that he did tell a North Carolina crowd that "liberals hate real Americans that work and accomplish and achieve and believe in God," even though he initially denied making such a statement...

Hayes' comment came the day after Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) told MSNBC's Chris Matthews that the media should investigate which members of Congress are "anti-America" and which are "pro-America."

In Greensboro, N.C., Palin had said at a recent rally that "we believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard-working, very patriotic, pro-America areas of this great nation."

Hayes had followed Rep. Patrick McHenry, also a North Carolina Republican, who laid out the choice between McCain and Obama.

"It's like black and white," yelled someone from the crowd.

Politico

The desperation is palpable. It seems as though the GOP knows it is going down in flames and has decided to make this election into a bitter, divisive affair that only prolongs the culture war in this country. Instead of discussing how they plan to fix the country they've decided to declare that anyone who is liberal isn't a real American. Parts of the country that vote for Democrats aren't really a part of this country.

LittleBigPlanet - SCEE's official statement…

SCEE has supplied us with the official statement on the situation regarding LittleBigPlanet…

During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur'an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused.

We will confirm the new launch date shortly.

We'll keep you updated with further information as soon as we get it.

UPDATE

We've just been informed by SCEE that the delay to release is effective worldwide.Threespeech

As an atheist, I get tired of tip-toeing around the feelings of people who believe things I don't. LBP isn't an offense against muslims. I respect people of faith, any faith, but honestly, it is getting ridiculous.

I have seen the future!

Dvader and I were lucky enough to get into the LittleBigPlanet beta, and since we were the only ones, I feel like I have to report back from the future to let all of you unfortunate people living in the present know how great this game is.:P

I won't do it proper justice with words, but this game delivers on every front. The presentation of the game is phenomenal, easy to use menus, charming narration, absolutely gorgeous graphics, etc. On top of that, the creation tools are easy to use and incredibly deep.

The best part of the game is easily the community, this beta hasn't been going long, and there aren't too many people in it, and it is full of amazing levels. So far I've seen an incredible level full of electric skeletons, a gorgeous Shadow of the Colossus level(complete with rocket horse and Collosus), a level with a rocket powered wheel that you grab onto and hold on for dear life as it propels you on a rollercoaster to the end of the level, a two part series of levels involving a bank heist and some ridiculously faithful recreations of cIassic Sonic levels. I can guarantee that I will find more incredible levels when I get home tonight.

This is the game of forever, the YouTube of gaming, and whatever else you want to call it. The online portion is thought out very well. It is easy to find new levels and to see where your friends are and what they are playing. I've found most of the great levels simply by venturing over to Dvader's planet and seeing what he has played.

This game is something really special and I can't wait for everyone else to join in the fun.

On the road to PC elitism!

Like I blogged about here a while back, I've stolen a computer from work. It had been gutted to an extent and needed a new GPU before I would be able to play anything. Tonight I just ordered an 8800GT and 4GBs of RAM and I'm back on my way to playing PC games again.:D

As an added bonus, the video card I ordered comes with a free copy of Crysis. Outside of that I'm hoping to get the PC version of Oblivion. I've put somewhere around 500-600 hours into the 360 and PS3 versions and I'm stoked to get to play it with mods, and better performance. I simply couldn't be more excited.

I was raised on PC gaming. One of my friends had a Nintendo, but I was usually too busy playing King's Quest to be bothered with that Mario nonsense.:P Later on we got a Super Nintendo, and it was cool, and I sorta fell out of PC gaming until we got a brand spanking new top of the line Intel 486! I was the envy of my nerd friends at the time. I remember totally falling in love with Command and Conquer: Red Alert, which I think still goes down as the best Christmas present my dad has ever given me. My favorite games then were easily Half-Life, Interstate '76, the Quest for Glory series, C&C: RA and Quake.

Those were the good old days and they are coming back.

Vice President... Mom?

John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

...tell me why it is ok that she is inexperienced? This is an obvious ploy to try and win over Hilary supporters, and I think it will backfire.

Vice President Badass... I mean Biden.

Obama has picked Joe Biden to be is Vice Presidential running mate. This guy is a badass. The campaign is going to be really fun to watch now I think. Biden is a straight shooter, and he's not afraid to be brutally honest and blunt. Here are some of my favorite Biden moments:

Biden rips Rudy pt.1

Biden rips about Rudy pt.2

Biden on healthcare

Biden on the war and forreign policy

The guy is sharp as hell. He is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and that is the kind of guy we need as VP, someone with plenty of experience dealing with other countries. I couldn't be happier.

Who needs a war in the middle east when you can have another Cold War?

So it seems the Iraq war is coming to a close, which is great news...

U.S.-Iraq near key security deal

BAGHDAD -Secretary of State Condoleezza RiceandForeign Minister Hoshyar Zebarisaid Thursday that U.S. and Iraqi officials agree that timetables should be set for a U.S. troop withdrawal, but conceded that nailing down a broader pact on future relations is difficult.

Appearing together at a news conference, Rice and Zebari also mutually asserted that a final agreement between Washington and Baghdad on a a broad document spelling out the nature of any future U.S. troop presence and Washington-Baghdad relations is close to fruition, but not yet complete.

"We have agreed that some goals, some aspirational timetables for how that might unfold, are well worth having in such an agreement," Rice told reporters after meeting with Iraqi officials, includingPrime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. The two sides had come together on a draft agreement earlier this week and Rice made an unannounced visit to Baghdad to press officials there to complete the accord.

Zebari, asked about fears expressed by neighboring countries over such a pact, said in Arabic: "This decision (agreement) is a sovereign one andIranand other neighboring countries have the right to ask for clarifications. ... There are clear articles (that) say that Iraq will not be used as a launching pad for any aggressive acts against neighboring countries and we already did clarify this."

A key part of the U.S.-Iraqi draft agreement envisions the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq's cities by next June 30.Yahoo News

Meanwhile, we've got Russia invading Georgia, and cutting ties with NATO, we've got NATO doing training exercises in the Black Sea. We've got Poland agreeing to be a part of our missile shield which is only going to piss off Russia and Iran more than they already are, and we are trying to sell nuclear technology to India. It just seems like we are in the early stages of the next big war, and we haven't even wrapped up the other two that we are in now. When will it stop? Are we destined to fight in Russia and Iran? It is depressing to know that there is nothing that any of us could do to stop it.

I'm not trying to imply that we are pulling out of Iraq to gear up for the next big war, as that might be a little too much of a tinfoil hat theory. I would imagine that Russia and Iran's actions as of late have probably made us a little more open to wrapping things up in Iraq though.

28 Days Later...

Last month I decided to start eating better and working out. In 28 days I've lost 20 pounds. I'm down to 247.2 from 267.4. I'm excited. Things are moving along nicely. Ideally I'd like to be down another 20 by the end of October. I'm sure things will go slower the more I lose, but it is great to be making progress.

In other news, I've "stolen" a computer from work, and after I get it back up and running I will be jumping into the wonderful world of PC gaming! It has been too long since I've had a PC, I've been a Mac kid for the last four years.

Games are a goddamned disease.

[rant]Arg! We aren't even in the middle of the holiday season and I'm still buying more games in a month than I will play in any given year. I wish I could stop buying. I'm going to go home and buy Braid tonight, even though I've already spent most of my cash for the month on games, and even though I'm already in the middle of 5 other games. I need to slow it down. I just bought Disgaea yesterday and I have a feeling that alone has enough gameplay to last me for the rest of the year. I'm assuming you guys do this too. I buy games like I still work a part time job and have the time to play them. Hell, I probably buy more games now even though I have less time to play them than I did back then.[/rant]

...on a less ranty note, what are you folks buying for the rest of the year? I'm getting:

Braid

Castle Crashers

Disgaea 3

Warioland

Brothers In Arms

Force Unleashed

Midnight Club 3

Far Cry 2

SOCOM

Fable 2

Little Big Planet

Motorstorm 2

Mirror's Edge

Fallout 3

Resistance 2

Gears 2

Valkyria Chronicles

Persona 4

...and last but not least, Wipeout HD if Sony ever decides to release the damn thing. The sad thing is that as I type this, I know I'm forgetting other games. I'm never going to be out of debt.:P
