In no particular order-- 1. Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES) In my opinion, the pinnacle of 2D platforming. Easy enough to pick up and play, but tough enough to give you a solid challenge. 2. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas v1.0 (PC) Yes, there's a reason I specified the original 1.0 version--the PRE-patch version. The 1.1 and "Special Edition" packages are still great games and well worth playing, but owning a 1.0 entitles you to certain extras. Yes, I'm talking about modifications. No, I'm NOT talking about Hot Coffee. I'm talking about MULTIPLAYER. Real honest-to-deity multiplayer. (Sure, it's player-created, but it's a very slick solution and works very well) 3. Need For Speed: High Stakes (PS) Widely considered to be the pinnacle of the series. The cars were fantastic, the tracks were phenomenal, the AI was ruthless and the graphics STILL look good. 4. Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (PS2) It may not be the greatest platformer ever made, but it's got everything needed to have way more fun than you should be able--humor, solid controls and more ammunition than God. 5. Fatal Frame (PS2) This was a survival-horror game apart from all others. Resident Evil gave me a bunch of "HOLY $###!" moments--interspersed with a lot of "What the F***?!" frustration. Fatal Frame, on the other hand, had me scared crapless nearly the entire time I played. I constantly wondered what was around the next corner--and every time Miku's heart started to pound, I could feel my own doubling its pace.
