From DS's to DSi's

Christmas was brought forward a month for our family because my brother and SIL are moving to Cairns.

So basically that meant that my kid and I got our new DSi's a month early (and not in front of my Grandparents who like to 'monitor' my money situation rather closely).

I got the hot pink, and Hannah got the dark blue. Loving the new colours! I got a second copy of Mario Kart too.

Managed to set up WPA2 'net connection and the USB WiFi connection (Nintendo) on both DSi's today. What a drama! Still, managed to get it all set up for today at least. It seems to come and go, so tomorrow if it doesn't work I guess I won't be able to do much about it. The Nintendo USB stick really only likes one of my USB ports, so that sort of sucks and makes things a bit more difficult. But we can live with it.

Hannah is stoked and has been playing WarioWare Snapped! for most of the afternoon. She's wanted a digital camera for so long that I thought an upgrade to the DSi from the DS Lite was warranted. Plus access to DSiWare...I hope to God that improves quickly. Maybe just being in Australia sucks right now? What do other countries have? I'll have to check it out I suppose.

Anyway, there's my first update in about 3 years. Gotta start somewhere I guess.

Oh! We also have a Nintendo Wii! Looks like we're Nintendo girls all the way here!

Animal Crossing

I have a new addiction...and combined with my old addiction (caffeine/coffee), my life looks like it's headed straight to to into major Geekville.

David, wonderful beautiful man that he is, decided to buy me a new Nintendo DS after my blue one (that I got for my birthday last year) 'mysteriously broke' (read: was broken by someone else). And then when I went in search of a pink one for his son (don't ask), he decided I should buy Hannah her own DS as well because he didn't think it was 'fair' for her to be using my old broken blue one (meanwhile I thought it was MORE than fair because she didn't have anything before it!). After some arguing about the money he spends on me, and now Hannah (who he's never met BTW because I'm an overprotective b**** and I didn't think it was right to introduce my kid to a new boyfriend immediately, let her get attached and then have him leave...which he did, for Perth, although we're still 'together' as such), I gave in after he nearly started crying (he's a bit of a pansy).
Ok, so that was the long background story...anyway, I got Animal Crossing: Wild World for my NDS and OMFG I got hooked! I played it for about 2 hours last night. And then played it for 6.5 hours today. From full battery to red light! Half my day is gone! OMG!

I'm so totally stoked! My concentration span isn't the best these days, so it's nice to know that when it 'matters' I can still buckle down for the length of time that's needed. Now I have to wait a few hours for my system (meaning I need another pot of coffee and to recharge my NDS console) to be up and running again so I can play into the night,.

Yeah...I do have a kid....she's around here somewhere...I can hear Mario Kart DS playing in one of the other rooms.

Like mother like daughter ;)

New DS's and games and stuff

So a friend of mine recently cracked the top screen of my pretty blue NDS.  That pearly blue that is available in Australia?  I was pretty mad, but then he blamed it on my kid who was completely devestated by the whole thing, especially because she couldn't play Nintendogs anymore, and she's always been super careful with the NDS because she was never allowed to play with it until recently.

So anyway, my boyfriend bought me a new NDS from ebay, but yesterday whilst we were waiting for it to arrive via post, Hannah and I ended up buying the NDS/Mario Kart bundle from JB's.

So now because she endured my 'angry act' over my blue NDS, she scores because she gets her own in tact DS, plus a Disney Princess game to play on it.  She's pretty stoked, and I'm pretty stoked I got the Mario Kart bundle...I didn't think I'd like Mario Kart, but it actually pretty cool.

Another Code and Zoo Tycoon

So I've owned my NDS console for a week or two now and I bought it with Sims 2 which I managed to finish in around 1 week. Great game btw. I got Nintendogs after that on the recommendation of one of Hannah's friends Mums...I should have known it would bore me a little..what with all the real animals around here that need to be looked after. On the other hand I'm very attached to my puppy, Arthur, and today managed unlock the Miniature Pinscher...my first unlocked puppy! Boy are they UGLY though! I bought Another Code: Two Memories (Trace Memory I believe it's called on GS) yesterday and am enjoying that, although am worried that I will finish it too soon and have nothing more to do with it. Quite enjoying it for now though. And I finally got my copy of Zoo Tycoon today. It hasn't been given very good reviews online, but the guy in the shop was chatting about it and said he loved it. It's not as good as the PC version...but c'mon...it's a console game, what did you expect? I've only set up one exhibit in Zoo Tycoon, but at first glance the graphics aren't fantastic and finding your way around the game seems to be harder than it needs to be. My other big annoyance is that I can't cheat and get unlimited funds like I do with the PC version. What a bugger! STILL, I am persisting with the game because it is one of my favourites and I know once I get the hang of finding my way around I'll enjoy it. I think this type of game can provide unlimited game play; each zoo being different etc. Still...how much patience can I have left to play this game after a day of Hannah and maybe a few of the foster kids?
