In Constant Change

Life really is crazy.

One minute you're a 20 year old part time college student with all the time in the world, and the next, you're a 27 year old full time Afternoon Host/Production Director/Jack-of-all-trades working 50+ hours a week and struggling to fit things into your free time. To think that I've been a part of this site for more than six years is totally nuts. I used to be able to come here for hours a day and really cut through the Family Guy queue, which in it's heyday, was a beast. Now that I'm older, and I hope wiser. I use my downtime more constructively. But there is still that place in my heart for this site. Now before you get to thinking, "hey, is this some kind of retirement thing?"... no its not, haha. I hadn't logged into the site for a little while due to some... well technical issues. I had no internet at home for a little bit, and for some reason, couldn't access the site at work, even for a few minutes a day to run through my queue. So I was a little concerned tonight when I logged in and saw a message from the staff in my inbox. Hopefully I got back to them in time to prevent any issues. That being said, I am aiming to set aside some time, each week, to come here and freshen things up with the guides that I edit. I don't want them to fall behind any more, and I hope that with the break in the summer, I can accomplish this. Sorry I've been away

Okay, I'm not really sorry, but I figured it was time to do a blog. I never have time anymore to just tool around the site, so when I saw the emmy prediction competition when I checked the site yesterday, I thought that'd be fun. When I came to see the results, hey! I got second place! Crazy, I know. I won't brag about it too much. Ummmmm, whats new since my last blog? Tons of stuff, I've gotten a promotion, moved to another town, and... well that's pretty much it. Haha, so I lied when I said tons of stuff. I wish I had more time to spend on this site, because the Family Guy guide at least could probably use a once over cleanup job. Hopefully I'll take a few weekends and sit down and tackle it. Oh, and follow me on twitter if you want, I promise I won't bug you too much with constant updates, haha. http://www.twitter.com/radiofish I'll leave you with this sunset picture I took last week. Angering the Snow Gods

Last week on Monday (11/30) we in northern michigan saw the first significant snow of the year, 3 inches. However, by Tuesday afternoon, it had all melted. I had joked on my facebook and twitter that winter should make up its mind... and it did. When the snow began falling on wednesday night, it didn't stop until early Sunday morning (If you're not familiar with lake-effect snow, its a doozy). 18 inches total. We thought the worst was over. Now we are on the cusp of another winter storm warning that will last into thursday, where another 18 is expected in some areas. I'll never taunt winter again.

iUpgrade

After waiting, waiting, and waiting some more, I switched to at&t wireless on Thursday, and got an iPhone. here's a view of my board from tonight. (yes, I'm at work, haha) Needless to say, I love it. ------------- As for the site, word came down yesterday that Family Guy had a little scheduling jumble. "Brian's Got a Brand New Bag" was originally set to air this Sunday, but it has been pushed back to November 8th. Airing this Sunday is "Spies Reminiscent of Us" (originally scheduled to air on October 18th). As a result, a repeat will air on October 18th, so FG will be taking a three week break after this Sunday. -------------- Hey, I said I'd try to keep this thing somewhat up to date, never said I'd have a lot to say, haha. -Fish

Into Enemy Territory...

... Is where I am headed this Saturday. GO BLUE! ---------------- Still pretty happy with the Lions victory this past Sunday, and looking forward to at least a couple more this season, haha. Hoping to get down to Ford Field for the November 1st or 22nd game against the Rams or Browns. ---------------- As for TV. I enjoyed the Family Guy premiere, and it seems that most of the viewing public did as well. REALLY enjoyed FlashForward, Bored to Death, Entourage, and The Big Bang Theory.

Then Labor Day came and went, and we shed what was left of our summer skin...

With the "Symbolic" end of summer behind us now, it's been more summer-like weather all of September here than most of August was. With our extremely mild winter here in Northern Michigan, I'll probably expect the snow to arrive sometime in early October. Main reason for this post? Well I was informed that I was the Community Spotlight this time around. So I thank the staff for that honor. With *most* premieres 2 and 3 weeks away, things around the site have been ramping up as more info on the new seasons pour in. And while it's been fairly quiet on the Family Guy front so far, I expect it to get back into the swing fairly quickly. As for current shows that I am watching... TRUE BLOOD! Can't wait for the finale this Sunday, and as of right now, I have a 4 pack of the Tru Blood beverage from the HBO store on it's way that should be here before the finale. ------- Catching up... I went to a Tigers game a month ago - pics can be seen here - Tiger Game 8/9/09 Photoset It was one hell of a game (Tigers ended up winning 8-7) and a hot one too. I think the hottest it got was 94, with a heat index around 101, and I had the sunburn to prove it. Before the game started I walked down to the front of our section to just get some shots of the stadium, and who decides to come by? Bobby Seay and Brandon Lyon. after a little while, they were joined by Justin Verlander and Edwin Jackson Like I said, the Tiggies won, but it wasn't an easy one. Thames and Cabrera both homered, but the Twins had their fair share of knocks as well. Delmon Young hit the furthest ball I have ever seen hit at Comerica, putting one off of the TV tower in dead center field. Probably a 480 footer. Final line As I said, full set of photos are here - Tiger Game 8/9/09 Photoset ----- Well, I'll try and update this thing more often. Until then, thanks for stopping by. -Fish EDIT: and bring back "The Scoop!" haha.

So, where the heck did Summer go?

I think we here in Northern Michigan have had close to a week of summer like weather... and that's it. This week has been cold and windy. ITS FREAKING JULY. I should not have to wear a hooded sweatshirt and jeans in JULY. Hell, at the National Cherry Fest earlier today and yesterday, the (traditionally) cooling tent, a place where you can go to get into some air conditioning, has now turned into a warming tent. Freaking crazy. Things at work are still crazy as ever, I won't bore you with the details. After really enjoying season one of True Blood, I'm really liking where season two is going, the week break is killing me though. Anyways, sad news. My Xbox 360 has kicked the bucket. It's currently on its way to Texas for repair. I figured its time to give my Wii some love, so picked up a couple of rentals on the way home tonight. Anyone twitter? I've been using it for a little over a year now, but lately it's really beginning to blow up. Find me at http://www.twitter.com/RadioFish It's really cool to use with our radio station. Plus, it gives our listeners another chance to connect with us. If they are on the run, they can tweet us their requests. Well, until next time. Thanks for stopping by. -Fish

Swamped as usual

I should try and blog more often. I never thought that my shift switch would cut my free time like it has. Though being in a career where all the large corporate companies (mainly Clear Channel) are cutting jobs like it's a competition, I should feel lucky to be in a locally owned radio cluster. Since the last time I blogged, we've had an air-staffer leave, and then added two more to the force. Also, in early March, we learned that our voice guy (Brian James, based out of Arizona) passed away due to a heart attack in the middle of the night. It hurt more to learn that he was only 48. Here is a little humorous video that Brian had done to put a face to the voice if you've ever heard him. We've since hired a new voice guy, and I think the station sounds pretty damn good with him. There is a message board for Michigan radio and TV, and we usually are always ripped on for being the pop station, despite strong ratings. But lately, a few people have praised recent changes in airstaff and music, and all of us here are feeling pretty good about it. From doing my airshift from 2pm to 7pm, to off-air stuff, I've been busy as hell. Doing a bunch of commercial production (haha, it seems that whenever I hear a commercial on our station, it's me) to now getting into a weekly club gig on Friday nights. If you're ever in the area (Coverage Map though you can hear us anywhere really north of Cadillac, Mi) and you think you can stomach Top 40, then tune in. Or check us out online where we stream. As for the site, I still try and log on each day to keep up, but now that FG is done for the summer, it may be every other day. The LOST finale blew my mind as expected, and I can't wait for the final season to start in January. And just because, I'll post the games I'm looking forward to in the coming months.

Movin' on up!

Lots of changes going on here at work, and I am involved in them, but for good actually. I am being moved to afternoons, which is actually great for me. Don't get me wrong, I love working nights, hell, it's all I've done at my two full-time gigs. But I feel that, and evidently the powers that be here do as well, I am ready to move up to a bigger and better shift. Plus it'll open up my nights for some uninterrupted, un-DVR'd TV viewings! March 16th is the day, I can't wait. Anyways, news on the TV.com front, Family Guy will be new for the next 4 weeks in a row (no joke). Maybe having my nights open in the next week and a half will allow me to go back and do some maintenance on the FG guide. There are a few episodes that are lacking content, and I just never got around to fixing that. Also, I won't have to avoid this place (and a few other message boards that I visit) on Wednesday nights until I've watched LOST, since I'll be able to watch it as it airs. This season has been totally crazy, and I love it. It's gonna be hard to wait two weeks for a new episode. Gaming-wise, I haven't purchased anything (retail) since buying Fallout 3 in December, and I really haven't had the urge to. I did however get the DLC packs for Fable II, Fallout 3 (#2 should be hitting this month), and GTA IV. I'm also constantly expanding my library of songs in Rock Band 2. Speaking of Rock Band, the news hit today that the Beatles Rock Band game will drop on 09-09-09, so I am definitely looking forward to that. As I've mentioned before, I haven't made any retail purchases of games in about three months now. Though I have a feeling that will come to an end next week, as Resident Evil 5 comes out, as well as another game I've had my eye on, Madworld for the Wii. Laters, -Fish

Busy

Sorry I haven't blogged much. I've been busy with work. Anyways, Family Guy returned this past week... only to go on another 2 week break. At least it has been confirmed that we'll get four weeks in a row of new episodes in March. Been watching Lost, and watching it again, and again. This season has been crazy nuts. I love it. I recently purchased Seasons 3 and 4 on Blu-ray. The detail is fantastic, you can see the friggin pores on their faces. Can't wait for them to release seasons 1 and 2. The only other show I really make an appointment to DVR (as I work at night so I can't watch them as they air) is The Big Bang Theory, and that isn't disappointing me either. Hmmm, other than that, like I said, work has been busy as heck. We currently only have four full-time airstaffers for two big FM stations, so everyone is pulling doubles. I guess it beats being out of a job. Until next time
