Never thought I'd see the day!

I have lost all interest in the popular MMO, World of Warcraft. I used to make fun of the game because it lives off the souls of children and the time that the children have lost to it. But eventually, I tried it out with some of my friends. So I got the first expansion, Burning Crusade, and leveled one character to lvl 70. After getting into a fight with the friends that I played with, I stopped playing the game. Then the second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King came out. I got back into the swing of things. I found out more of my friends played and got a brand new character to lvl 80. Now that I am trying out other classes and finally getting involved with the game, Blizzard announces Cataclysm, the third expansion to World of Warcraft. I have to say that this is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I am proud to say that I will be quitting World of Warcraft.

A week ago, I heard from many websites that Cataclysm's details were leaked. After reading about all the new content in the rumored expansion pack, I was hoping that they were false or that the article was just a bad dream. But come this afternoon, I had a bomb drop on me. Cataclysm was real, and it was going to release nothing but utter nonsense to the world . . . of Warcraft. Blizzard has announced that they will be releasing two new races (one per faction), Goblins and Worgens. Considering that Goblins have been neutral since the game was released leaves me wondering why Blizzard thought that Goblins siding with the Horde was a good idea. Same can be said for Worgens. Worgens (werewolves in other words) were hostile to both factions, so why would they side with the Alliance? On top of this, they are bringing players back to where the game started, the lands of Azeroth. Oh, but this time the world is in ruins. So this is going to make new players and veterans of the game venture the same terrain, just in different conditions. Doesn't sound confusing or illogical at all, right?

I felt like there could be reasonable explanations for these inconsistencies. But the one thing that made me change my mind was the fact that they are allowing other races among both factions to be classes that they couldn't be before. For instance, the Tauren from the Horde and Night Elves from the Alliance were the only two races that could be a Druid, but now Blizzard has announced that Trolls can be Druids too. Also, Blood Elves were the only race from the Horde that could be a Paladin, and the Draenei were the only race from the Alliance that could be a Shaman. Well now, the Tauren from the Horde can be Paladins, and Dwarves from the Alliance can be Shamans. On top of that, the Undead from the Horde and Humans from the Alliance can be Hunters.

What it comes down to is Blizzard has completely thrown off the balance of the game by teaching old races new tricks, and by bringing in two races (which will also tip the scales for both factions) that don't fit into the story, Blizzard has thrown the nostalgic lore out the window. There were a few improvements that caught my eye. You can now use flying mounts in Azeroth and . . . umm . . . uhh . . . well. Okay so there was only one improvement that caught my eye. Before Blizzard's convention, I had hopes that the new expansion would be something great, but now I feel like I made rid of my ball and chain. I can now move back to console gaming and finally give myself the chance to play Infamous.

Thanks for reading my blog. I hope to bring good news once my time in the Rehabilitating Center for Former WoW Players is up. Cheers everybody. :D

The Battle for 2009

Alright, I'm gonna have to admit. I'm not big on the whole "console war" shenanigans. I think it's bad for the industry when consumers pin these presumptuous terms, like "Sony has lost this gen" or "The Wii is a child's console". This will carry on this generation unless the companies decide it's necessary to conform to what people expect of them. People want Sony to drop the price of the PS3, and I personally think it's courageous of them to face the public simply saying, "NO!". People want hard core games on the Wii, but Nintendo will be cutting off the crucial audience that got them into the business in the first place: the kids. People want Microsoft to make Xbox Live a free service, but the service itself is so vastly superior to anything thus far that it can justify it's price tag. Each company has picked it's path this generation, and bickering amongst the consumers is only going to give a bad rep to the companies as well as make it hard for other consumers to make a choice this gen. As long as each console has an apparent flaw that is brought up constantly, why would anybody want to jump into the new gen?

This brings me to my next debate topic. While 2009 isn't over and there is still a lot more to come out for all consoles, I'm curious as to which console is going to come out on top. As my first paragraph points out, I think all three companies are doing a good job. I'm glad that I own everything (minus a 360, but that might change soon). So who's gonna win? Also, if you agree with what I had to say before, just pick the select few if not all of the companies that you think will do a great job this year. I also apologize if this turns out more heated than the other debate topics.

Serious Decisions!!!

I have an actual Blog this time around. So this will be pretty special to me. I currently own a PS3, Wii, DS, PSP, and a high-end PC that bursts with awesomeness. I have been contemplating getting a 360. The only issue is that I'm not really buying the system for a reason, I'm gonna buy it out of impulse. I will end up having the opportunity to check out some games that I haven't had the chance to play before, but I'm trying to decide if this is a smart decision. All of the PR talk from both sides are starting to confuse me a little. Sony talks of continuing to make first-party exclusives for its console, and Microsoft is talking of making everything multiplatform. So the smart decision is obvious, but expensive. Since I already have a PS3 and a powerful PC, is a 360 a wise decision?

This'll still seem like a debate blog in comparison to my previous ones, but this is a serious decision on my part. If you guys think a 360 would really be worth it, explain your opinion and list some games you would recommend. Any input would be appreciated, and I don't want to seem like I'm stepping on toes, just looking for answers. Thank you. :)

Rock Band or Guitar Hero?

Seeing as the Band video games have become a new trend and everybody seems to be into them, I figured it'd be nice to have another debate in video games. Rock Band was developed by Harmonix right after they branched off from the Guitar Hero franchise. Activision had taken over the Guitar Hero series and apparently had the plans for a "rock band" game prior to Harmonix leaving, but hadn't acted on it till after Rock Band came out. I'm sure there is more to the history of this feud, but one thing is for sure: Each game has rounded up a good amount of fans. As much as each person has their own preference to hot dog toppings, each person either likes Rock Band or Guitar Hero. Some people prefer Rock Band the game with World Tour's instruments, or vice versa. So list which game and instrument set up you like the most, and then explain why you think the game is better. :D

Infamous or Prototype?

Knowing me and my cheapskate ways, I'll rent both games and beat them in a week. What I really want to know is how people view both games. From what I have noticed, all PS3 enthusiasts (fanboys) prefer Infamous because it is an exclusive and Xbox 360 aficionados (fanboys) prefer Prototype because they can't play Infamous. I'm looking for honest to God righteousness. Is Infamous being overhyped? Or is Prototype not being given its due? Radical Studios might be writhing in the shadows of Sucker Punch Studios, but who knows for sure. I'd like to know what you guys think. I like Infamous, but Prototype seems to have a unique setting that can't compare to Infamous. But then again, the guys that are making Prototype only made Simpson's Hit and Run and Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Can these games give Prototype a bad or good rep?

I have noticed that I don't blog enough. Shortly after this realization, I had come to the conclusion that my life is boring. So to keep things interesting, I am going to blog about recent debates in gaming to see how people feel about the situation. Happy arguing, everybody. :D

Valentine's Day

I really don't want to bring anybody down on the day of love or Singles Awareness Day, but something horrible happened to me today, and I feel content with sharing it on my blog.

It started last night. I heard my sister screaming for help, I rushed to her to find that my dog, Miles, had lied down on the ground. The only thing that was wrong was that he was completely unresponsive. He was breathing fine, and his eyes were moving, but he couldn't get up. After a while had past, he finally got up, but we decided to take him to the veterinarian anyway. The doctor said that she was going to run some tests and then give us the results in the morning. So this morning, I woke up to my mother hysterically crying. It peeked my interest as to what the results were. I found out that he had cancer. He also had it for quite awhile. Nobody caught it before this morning. So when we went to the veterinarian, they gave us our choices. We could either put him through chemo, or put him to sleep. It was a hard decision, but we went with the latter. I've been tearing myself up about it, but it's really hitting me hard now that I'm back home thinking about everything that just happened.

To Live Forever in My Memories: R.I.P. Miles.

Sorry to be a buzz kill. I just need to get my feelings out there. I hope everybody else is having a great V-day.

Tis the season . . .

Well, not really. The holiday season is coming to a close. But regardless, I had a blast. First off, I have to explain my religious standpoint. My dad is Jewish and my mom is Catholic, so I celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas. For Hanukkah, I was given a brick of drumsticks, because I was in dire need of some. So in turn, I was able to play my drum kit again. Along with the drumsticks, I was finally able to recite the prayer and perform the ritual for lighting the menorah. So overall, I've had a pretty awesome Hanukkah. :P

Now for Christmas, I got Guitar Hero: World Tour Bundle (PS3), The Dark Knight (Blu-ray), an emo jacket that says "Paramore" on it, and a new paint job on my car. So I also had an amazing Christmas. But on top of that, I bought myself Persona 4 (PS2) with the Social Link Expansion that was on Amazon. So along with the game, I got a calendar, soundtrack, t-shirt, and plushie. :P

So I hope you all had as great a holiday as I had, and hopefully even better (but I doubt it :P). Cheers to everybody, here's to ringing in the New Year with friends and family. :D

It's Been Awhile

Let's see if I still know how to do these "blog" thingies. It's been awhile since I last posted a blog. So my life has been pretty chill. I went back to school after a year hiatus. I had worked full time for a year to see what the real world was like. Long story short, I'm back in school.

At the moment, I'm waiting for the guitarist in my band to get back from the Navy. He's currently stationed in Japan, and is coming back permanently by Christmas. I'm continuing my song-writing. I love writing lyrics, and composing music. So hopefully I can get my band signed and I can live my dream. Worse comes to worse, I can follow through with my Political Science major in school, and get into politics. :P

I've been enjoying my PS3 recently. My Wii has been collecting dust, but I have been playing Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet. I need to pick up the new Prince of Persia. I've also been playing on my gaming PC as well. I've been playing Gears of War (PC) and World of Warcraft with some of my buddies. I was also invited to the closed beta of the Shin Megami Tensei MMO. It's kind of fun. Very simple and easy, but fun nonetheless. If anybody wants to play Gears (PC) or play Resistance 2, my Gamertag and PSN are both Excifer. Drop me an invite, and we can play some games. :D

Taking a Break

I don't really know how to start or finish this blog, but I'm just here to say that I'm taking a break from GS. I don't know when I'll be back. But I'm being overwhelmed by work, school, and personal issues right now, so I want to get away from keeping in touch with the latest video game fad. I might be on to talk to old friends, but I will have non-existent union activity. I hope everybody understands. :(

Finally, I got my gem of a console.

I don't mean to brag, and I know Juro will be pissed, but I got my 80g PS3 today. I'm gonna screw around with Motorstorm for now, but I'm gonna get Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank, Folklore, and Uncharted. I'm gonna be broke by the end of the year. :|

I also have to look forward to Metal Gear Solid 4, Devil May Cry 4, Assassin's Creed, Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 13 and Final Fantasy 14. I'm so glad I got it, I can finally get ready for my next-gen experience. No offense to the Wii, but the PS3 is the true next-gen console. :D
