I find this article a little misleading. The way this news article is written, I get the impression that combined sales of Resident Evil 5 are 5.8 million and Street Fighter II 6.3 million, and that Capcom hopes Resident Evil 6 will surpass them (in total sales for PS3, Xbox360 and PC).
The figures for Street Fighter II are for the SNES version only. The figures for Resident Evil 5 are simply dated (June 2011 according to wikipedia). According to vgchartz.com, Resident Evil 5 has sold more than 7 million copies on PS3 and Xbox360 to date (http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=resident+evil+5&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200).
Resident Evil 4 has also apparently surpassed 7 million combined according to vgchartz, Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2012 and wikipedia.
A 7 million prediction for Resident Evil 6 makes sense.
I also see 1,5 million for Dragon's Dogma as being possible. Kingdoms of Amalur has currently sold more than 1 million and Dragon Age 2 is close to 2 million. Compared to those two games, Dragon's Dogma will have stronger support in Japan (on PS3), but probably weaker support in the west, It might be tough reaching that goal, but I think it can make it. A lot depends on the reviews it gets. I have only played the intro (...or prologue or whatever it was called) part of the demo, and I was not blown away.
I am not sure what to think about the new Devil May Cry, but I do predict dissappointing sales in Japan because of the fact that it is being developed in the west (by Ninja Theory).
Diablo II was never the fastest selling video game of all time, it was the fastest selling COMPUTER game. There's a serious difference between the two.
You could also say that Europeans are more artsy, because the PS3 is selling better in that region. But then again you could say that Americans are more artsy, because Heavy Rain sold better in that region. MIND=BLOWN!!111elven!!one!!!1
@Bamul Oh, and I know two people who have had their PS3s break, but no Xbox360 owners who have had their consoles break. And I know more Xbox360 owners! Not to say you are wrong, just that the point you're making doesn't carry much weight,
@amaan4ever If I base my opinion on what you just wrote and present it as facts, I come to this conclusion: PS3 owners are ignorant, uninformed and probably stupid as well.
