This thread became a battle between Souls series fanboys and haters. I played Demons Sous and the first Dark Souls, and I am playing this one now. They are good games, but overhyped, since they carry (and share) several flaws. These games are hard but manageable. Hardest than any boss for me are the need to kill over and over the same enemies (boring); the awful target lock system (mandatory since it's hard to hit the enemy even if you are right in front of him without it) that make fights suck some times, specially when you are facing more than one enemy, and it changes from the one you are engaging to another for no reason (irritating); when the camera inexplicably moves by itself in the worst moments, like when you are crossing a narrow bridge or ledge where it is easy to fall and die (cheap); or when you are facing a one hit kill enemy and you try to lock on him and you end up spinning like a f..ing roulette (cheaper). And, of course, the repetition from one game to another (for example the Maneater battle from Demons Souls and the Bell Gargoyles from Dark Souls are absolutely identical, like many others). In the other hand, the open world is varied and very well designed, so as the enemies and bosses, who are really challenging, being very rewarding when you defeat them. Even though, the game deserves more than 5, 7 fits better.
@razama Even though players can choose Shepard's gender and looks, it's clear Commander Shepard is supposed to be the (male) guy portrayed in all covers, that was his default appearance. I believe few people see Shepard as female.
Kojima seems to be obsessed about open world games, and GTA series master it. They're two different kind of monsters. GTA is about graphic action and freedom to explore an entire city and do a lot of (many times illegal) things. MGS is a story driven game, with a rich mithology, and a tactical game, where you need to think your actions and atacks, use stealth action extensively, find out your enemies weaknesses, etc. If had enough money to put only on one game, I would choose MGS V for sure.
Considering this was supposed to be the game that would bring RE franchise back to the track, I'm very disappointed to it. Who told Capcom co-op is good for an allegedly survivor horror game, specially when you have an a.i. controlled partner? The awful dialogues between the characters make you wish to kill your partner instead the b.o.w.'s and they totally kill any chance for the game to be scary. Enemies are not very scary either and lack more diversity. Graphics are less than impressive, considering another recent games, or even older ones. Characters still move "like a tank" (to use the same expression from another RE game review), and the story is even more absurd than usual. One of the few good things is the location, that remembers the mansion and other places in original RE.
Everything Kevin said about RE6 I agree. He said everything I thought about the game, and I only read this review after playing it. But I still would give it a 6.5 or 7. There are good moments, even with all problems.
