I have a hybrid hard drive (500 GB HDD + 24 GB SSD). The Win 8.1 preview edition which I upgraded to from Win 8 have messed up my computer. It started to run to slowly and hang 70% of the time on restarting or Shutting down. I deleted all partitions using a partition magic software (gparted). I then re-partitioned the 500 GB drive (designated as Driver 0 in gparted), and formatted the partitions to install windows. I forgot to partition and format Driver 1 (the 24 GB SSD). So the status of Driver 1 now is just unallocated space (after having deleted its partitions). I installed windows on Partition C of driver 0. After spending 12 hours of reinstalling all my programs and apps, I am thinking now that I have made a big mistake by not utilizing  the speed of the SSD technology. But when I bought this laptop windows was installed on a single C driver with a total size of about 480 GB. No other SSD drivers had appeared in windows as separate drives at the time. So I figured I should install windows on the 500 GB HDD (driver 0 in gparted). And thats what I did.

My questions:

1-Can I benefit from the SSD hard drive right now? (without formatting again) Is it totally unused now with its current state (Unallocated)?

2-Should I really have formatted the SSD to the NTFS file format and installed my windows on it? (I assume Windows did not exist on SSD in the first place when I bought this laptop (a new laptop from Asus).

3- I also noticed before deleting all the partitions in driver 0 and driver 1 prior to formatting, that driver 1 (SSD) had two partitions one of which was of an unknown file system (according to gparted). It was not NTFS or FAT32 or anything. What file format should I choose now if I have to format this drive now (without affecting my installed windows on driver 0).

4-Is it worth it to spend another 12 hours to install apps and programs in order to reinstall win 8 on this SSD? Will that make much of difference in Speed? (my boot time now is 34 seconds from the moment I press the power button to the moment desktop appears), is that good?

Sorry for my too many questions. Yesterday was the worst in my entire life. I also struggled to know how to boot the Windows DVD from bios and also it didnt let me install windows saying that windows cannot be installed on a driver of the GPT style (which is why I deleted all the partitions and started over).

Thanks for your time. I will appreciate your help.

Hi,

I am very hesitant about what to choose between the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and Sony xperia tablet Z 10.1.

They say the wireless connection in Sony is too weak and internet connection drops frequently unless the signal is so powerful. Also they say browsing is annoyingly slow in the Sony tablet. But it has a higher resolution screen and a much lower weight.

Is the Sony Xperia tablet really bad? I am going to use the tablet mainly for reading and browsing the internet. So I need a high resolution not to hurt my eyes. But I don't know..a lot of people say the sony tablet has several cons (especially the wireless connection and the slow browsing). Also the samsung has a pen.

What would you choose?

I am really confused.

Thanks

Hi,

I am thinking about buying a Tablet PC, but a lot of people around me have been suggesting to wait for Windows 8 tablet PCs. Most of my programs are not compatible with Android or Apple OS. On the other hand I can't wait for a year or so, I need the tablet PC now. Do you think I can buy A tablet PC with Android as the operating system and then format my tablet PC and replace the operating system with Windows 8 when it is released?

I am particularly interested in Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy-10-1-WiFi-Black/dp/B005FFQ5X6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336297570&sr=8-1

I know there are a few Tablet -PC's with Win7 as the operating system but these are too slow or expensive. I just need to buy an Android Tablet PC but I don't want to buy a new one after a couple of months for Win8.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thank you very much for your reply. I am going to buy LG LW4500 3D LEDTV. It is said it has 2D to 3D conversion capabilities. I am thinking that perhaps I can turn every game on my PS3 to 3D?

Hi,

I'm going to buy a 3DTV and I'd like to ask if I can really use my PS3 as a 3DBlue-Ray player. Will the PS3 just work fine for that in a comparable way to one of those expensive dedicated 3D Blue-Ray players? Also, I have heard that I need an HDMI 1.4 cable. Does a PS3 accept a version 1.4 of HDMI cable considering this version of cables was released about 3 years after the release of PS3.

Do I need anything else?

Thank you very much.

[QUOTE="2Chalupas"]I just remember the game's frame rate looking like a slide-show when I blew up those 10+ cars.MonkeySpot

Did you smoke your breakfast again, Chalupas?

To the TC, it sounds to me like there might be a difference in game data, such as DLC or updates/ patches to your original games, and perhaps you don't have all of the DLC and info the saves are looking for? Perhaps erase the saves, and all of that, then load each game fresh, getting the patches and such, make sure you have all of the DLC downloaded for any given title, THEN re-install the game saves and see if that doesn't fix it?

:?

You need to "complete the original picture" the saves are used to looking at.

Just a thought... Otherwise, call Sony or try Sony eSupport. LINK. They might be able to help you better than we can.

Thank you for you suggestions. In fact all I did was backup the savegame data , format , then copy the data back to the harddrive.

Sony is disgusting.
