Psychological Pain? Feh!

Actually, the whole situation's kinda funny, when you consider it...my appendix hurts pretty badly at night: AT THE POINT AT WHICH HUMANS BECOME MOST NERVOUS. Hmmm...but am I human? pssssh! In any case, whenever I actually think about the pain, I panic and the pain strengthens, but when I don't, the pain disappears, I'm coming to the conclusion that it's just in my brain, not my appendix. And then you look back on the whole situation and think:

"God damn it!"

Took Jessey, Shamus, K.C., and Daniel skating today, and damn near perfected the two-skate stop, where you just essentially jam both skates to the side and come to a stop. I've been giving sort of lessons to some of my friends, the list going as follows: Jessey, Jessie, Shamus, and K.C....I also take ma'bro's Baird and Daniel along, too. Jessey loved Daniel, and christened him "Kawaii Otouto" thus meaning he's my "cute little brother." Daniel managed to get two hugs on the night.

"God damn it!"

While I was skating, I nearly ran into Daniels friend (purely coincidence that he happened to be there), and in the effort to save us both the trouble, I went into the worst wreck of my life. My skate caught the ice (which you never want to do) and brought the other skate with it, and they both flew out to opposite sides, dragging me along for the ride. I landed on my back. Oh, but the fun didn't end there, I thought it was over, so I started to get up (It took me half a millisecond to think it was over, I'm good at interrupting falls for recoveries.) and found that Newtons law of physics (objects in motion tend to stay in motion, unless acted upon by an outside force) is, indeed, quite true and real. as I got my knees and elbows under me, I got rolled over by the momentum and slid about 5 feet into the wall, arms and elbows first. I scraped my arms and knees pretty badly. Then I got up and skated over to the bench, arms stinging, and found my sweatshirt there, which could have saved me the pain...

"God damn it!"

(edit): Predators won again! ^_^...we're officially 9-3-1 on the season

(edit 2): Thanks for the card, Shroomie, I'm really sorry if I scared anybody...

Fearing a Hospital

I'm desperately hoping that those who assure me (my dad, and psychiatrist) are right when they say the symptoms of appendicitis. but my lower right abdomen, as said in the merck thingy, is in pain, not great, but still in pain, and my appendix has been bothering me for a while...

I'm not particularly sure of what the exact symptoms are, or, based on the fact I have a high-fiber diet, how I got appendicitis (if I did).

so can someone ask a doctor about it? It's been keeping me up all night, and it's too late to talk to dad about it, he's asleep now.

Beard'll be coming up here for the weekend, so it's sure to be weirder than usual, and the Predators won last night against the on-fire sharks! yay!

just felt like I need to make a post, since I haven't done so in a while.

bow down to the Predators, fools!

"EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Martin Erat scored the only goal in the shootout and Chris Mason stopped all three shots to lead the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night.

The Predators blew a two-goal lead in the final 2:07 of regulation but still managed to win their fourth straight game. They completed a sweep of the New York-metropolitan area teams this week.

Paul Kariya set up first-period power-play goals by Jason Arnott and Erat and Scott Nichol tallied short-handed in the second for Nashville, which had eight shots on goals over the final two periods and the overtime.

Brian Gionta scored twice, including the tying goal with 11.6 seconds to go in regulation. Scott Gomez had the other goal for the Devils.

Mason finished with 30 saves filling in for Tomas Vokoun . He also stopped Zach Parise , Gionta and Patrik Elias in the shootout.

Erat scored on the Predators' third attempt, snapping a shot over the glove of Scott Clemmensen , who had 15 saves in his first start of the year.

The Devils, who rallied from a three-goal third-period deficit at home earlier this season to beat Toronto 7-6 in a shootout, staged another comeback against the Predators, who beat the Islanders on Monday and the Rangers on Wednesday.

Gomez started it by lifting the rebound of a Gionta shot over Mason's shoulder.

Gionta, who scored all three third-period goals in the win over Toronto, scored his sixth of the season and second of the game from the right faceoff circle with 11.6 seconds to play in regulation.

Kariya's assists were sandwiched around Gionta's first goal.

Arnott was the first beneficiary of Kariya's passing, converting from right in front at 2:10 on the first shot that Clemmensen faced this season.

Mason also was beaten on the Devils' first shot, a power-play goal by Gionta after nice passes by Gomez and Elias.

Erat gave the Predators a 2-1 lead after taking a Kariya pass and scoring from between the circles on a shot that seemed to hit off Devils defenseman Paul Martin .

Nichol deflected a shot by defenseman Ryan Suter after beating Gomez on a faceoff.

Notes: Devils rookie C Travis Zajac missed the third period because of soreness. ... RW Steve Sullivan , who was leading the Predators with seven points, sat out with back spasms. ... The Devils scored on their first power play, ending a streak of 11 straight kills by the Predators. ... Kimmo Timonen had an assist in his 500th game with Nashville. ... This was the only regular-season game between the teams this season."

another great SI article.

Vokoun stifles Rangers en route to 17th SO!

"NEW YORK (AP) - Tomas Vokoun 's slow start has quickly become a distant memory.

After allowing 13 goals in Nashville's opening two losses, the Predators goalie has roared back during an impressive three-game winning streak.

His latest effort was a 38-save performance that produced his 17th NHL shutout and gave the Predators a 3-0 victory over the New York Rangers on Wednesday night.

''My job is to stop the puck,'' said Vokoun, who has turned away 91 of the past 93 he's faced. ''Goalie is your most important player. When he is not stopping the puck, it's tough to win.''

Scott Nichol had a goal and assist for his first points of the season as the Predators evened their record through six games. They are out of last place and ready to work their way toward a third straight playoff appearance.

''After the first three games we had to kind of question ourselves but we all knew we could reach another level as a team,'' said Scottie Upshall , who assisted on Jerred Smithson 's second-period, power-play goal.

The Rangers outshot the Predators in every period but lost for the fourth time in five games.

Nichol gave Nashville a 2-0 lead midway through the second period and then helped set up Smithson's first of the season with 1:48 left in the frame. Jason Arnott scored his second goal in the first period for the Predators, who have won the first two legs of a three-game swing through the New York metropolitan area.

Nashville edged the Islanders 2-1 in a shootout on Monday and will face the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.

''We played a solid two games in a row, and Vokie stood on his head for us,'' Arnott said. ''That's what we needed. That's kind of road hockey. You just kind of muck it up, get the win and get out of the building.''

Although they yielded only one power-play goal, the Rangers again took a slew of penalties. Nashville had seven man-advantage situations, including a 5-on-3 and two power plays that started in the final minute of one period and carried over.

New York coach Tom Renney was incensed Monday when the Devils had a 7-1 power-play advantage in the Rangers' 4-2 victory. The Rangers killed them all off, but didn't find the same success in the matchup with the Predators.

Nashville's lead grew to 3-0 when Smithson scored for the first time in 21 games, dating to March 14 of last season. The Predators are only looking ahead now.

That is a much easier task now that Vokoun is healthy and again on top of his game. He missed the Predators' first-round playoff loss against San Jose last season after developing blood clots.

''We dug ourselves a hole and we dug ourselves out of a hole,'' he said of their start. ''You have to bounce back. If you can't do it, then you can't play this sport.''

Earlier in the second period, Nichol banked the puck off the right-wing boards and retrieved it after getting around defenseman Marek Malik . Nichol skated out from the corner and cut in front before sliding a shot past defenseman Michal Rozsival and into the lower left corner of the net at 9:42

Vokoun was sharp throughout and was an important component in killing off all eight Rangers power plays that featured three two-man advantages. The final one came in the final 6 minutes, and lasted 1:03.

''That was probably the key of the game,'' Rangers captain Jaromir Jagr said. ''It is tough to say. The shots didn't go in.''

New York tried to find space around Vokoun from long distance, as Jagr fired away from the high slot during a second-period power play, and from in close, too.

Petr Prucha was denied on three whacks from the left post in the second period, and Matt Cullen was frustrated, too, in the third when Vokoun kept a short flip shot out. Brendan Shanahan rushed in to jab at the rebound, but the goalie covered up.

Henrik Lundqvist finished with 24 saves for the Rangers, who fell to 2-3 at home.

Notes: Shanahan scored on the Rangers' only power-play chance against the Devils on Monday. ... Nashville entered with the worst penalty-killing unit in the NHL (8 goals in 21 chances), but was perfect for the second straight game. The Predators were 3-for-3 against the Islanders and 0-for-2 on their own power play."

By the way, I have to give SI.com credit for that article.

YAY!!!

Tonight? Preds at Rangers!

well, i guess tomorrow will tell, but for tonight, we've got a big game between the 2-3 Predators and the 3-3 Rangers, I'm lookin' for the win to put us back above .500, and after a 2-1 shootout victory over New York's other team the other night, and dealing a crushing 4-1 blow to Phoenix a few nights ago, I'm thinking we have it this time.

not much else to say, 'm tired.

what did I JUST tell you?!

This, my friends, is how my conversations with Jessie usually go when we're between classes:

Me: man, that test was hard as hell...and I've got another test next period

Jessie: When I take over the world, I'll use tests as bombs!

Both Me and Jaspreet: What the F*CK?

It's actually pretty funny, and that one time last year when we were walking to the door from anime club and we were having a conversation that goes as follows:

Me: say, can I come over for a little while?

Jessie: Hell no, man...........Me: awww... Jessie: Psyche, naw, you can, just lemme call my parents.

Suddenly Jessey comes up from behind us, and pulls us down by our backpacks, almost synchronized.

Me (on my back): WHAZZZZUPP???

Jessey: Hi Cassandra! Hi Gregory the 43rd!

Jessie: ...

That was one of the funnier times last year.

I had waffles yesterday morning!

Based on this years preseason: My Ultimate Hockey team!

let's just get started with this, then, shall we?

Offensive Front Line: I'd pick for right winger, I'd pick Nashville's versatile winger Vladimir Orzsagh, he's small, fast, and able to deke the hell out of anybody no matter where he is, he sets up some pretty good plays, which often result in goals. center? Have any of you ever seen Evgeni Malkin play? no? that's because he plays in the Russian Superleague, but recently came to America to play for the Penguins, so he's amazing. anyhow, he's my center. Left winger: Tampa Bay's diminutive Martin St. Louis. I love the guy, he's an amazing player and one of the Lightning's captains, I believe.

Defensive Front line: No question, the huge pair of Zdeno Chara and Kyle Mclaren. Both over 6'6", and Chara the tallest in the league, they are both over 225 pounds as well. The size involved here is enough to outwit and crush any opposing forward.

Goalie: Tough race, really, there were a lot of big trades in the position over the off-season. An unbiased result? Tomas Vokoun, up there in the banner, he's predicted to be third in the world, and improve on that over the next couple of years.
