@operatorzero: Actually, no. Nobody actually watches those theater pieces without the realization that they're 'theatrical'. That word itself became something to avoid because it's what it exactly feels like: a set piece. Unless they're adapting very straightly one of those works, nobody makes a movie like that. It's an archaic approach that's only parodied in a 'regular' movie.
Waititi is a hack that should be driven out of the industry, he's far worse than even Whedon which was bad for his time. Hopefully Disney will never employ him again and he'll be forgotten. People are mostly to blame overrating the worst Thor movie Ragnarok to high heavens. Now everything is memey because they rated memefication high. That's why we ended up bland fiction that's as remarkable as a chewing gum.
Should have just ditched AC as a series with the newest two games, only bad parts about them were the AC baggage. Also service monetization is a no go. Someone else out there just keep making open world RPG standalone games with historic settings, there's a big market for that.
So they bailout another company which is bad for consumers instead of letting it deservedly sink. They even let Bob 'Pillars of Opportunity' Kotick stay. Incredibly bad news.
This was a very dry year that which the best games I played during it was older games. I can't even say I have a personal GoTY from 2021. 2021 has been an altogether bad year overall so no reason here I'll recall anything from it fondly. Hopefully with studios going back to more regular work schedules, 2022 will be better.
If Kotick is finally get rid of due to this after ruining the industry and gaming for so long, it'll be like Al Capone getting busted for tax eviction. I'll still take it.
@johnny0779: Kotick is the mastermind behind their business model. He was causing shitstorms with how he wanted to milk 500$ per games which he called 'pillar of opportunities' even before 2010. Many things wrong with the games industry can be attributed to personally him as with his methods ActiBlob's financial success caused everyone else to mimic them.
Take a look at Netflix model of "hire a celeb for poster and RNG the rest of the movie" and see how Game Pass and the like will destroy gaming like how Netflix is destroying cinema.
