@kingnothing47 Gaming is so far removed from reality in almost every possible example I can think of, that I really, really can't agree with your point. I honestly can't think of a game, except maybe ArmA, or something, that a female character would feel really out of place

@DBZKING1234 @TheNightMammoth @StinkySkunkGirl @RepoxMan1225 Developers are already free to create whatever kind of world they want. There's nothing wrong with people speaking out about the fact that there's not really a lot of variety that caters to certain groups. No, I don't advocate the notion that sexy characters are bad and developers should be forced to make games to pander to people. I advocate the notion that having as many Chun Li's are there are Ellie's is a good thing, and that the gaming industry should take steps toward that goal.

@StinkySkunkGirl @RepoxMan1225 Ruining the industry? Please, this argument has only really been going in the last year or so, and if the current line up of games, current and next-gen, is anything to go by, the industry is far from ruined.

I also enjoy the implication that more strong female characters is somehow a bad thing.

@kingnothing47 Who's flabbergasted by sexuality in games? It's always been in them, always will be, and I don't think anyone's advocating that there shouldn't be any. The problem is balance. There's no real balance between sexualised female characters, and strong, well written female characters. No, the two aren't mutually exclusive, obviously. There is a good balance with male characters.

@kingnothing47 @TheNightMammoth @Chr0noid I don't doubt that, but if there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that if enough people are shouting about something then there's more than likely to be a genuine problem at the route of it all, and as far as I can tell, there is a genuine problem.

@RicanV @Kooken58 @TheNightMammoth Believe me, this is nothing new, at least in basic terms. Gamers have always been whiny, and entitled, it's just more visible thanks to the internet and the fact that gaming is much more prevalent in society. This discussion over the depiction of women in games is new, that's all.

@Chr0noid There IS gender inequality in the gaming industry. The depiction of female characters is part of it. No, it's not just the 'whiny feminists', why would you believe that after reading a male developer from Naughty Dog talk about promoting equality?

@Chr0noid @TheNightMammoth I'd have thought that'd be obvious, considering the topic and the article we're posting on.

@RicanV Gamers are some of the most entitled whiners in the western world, we've always been that way. This is nothing new.

@Chr0noid @wgerardi When did promoting a little equality become pandering?
