I played in all three betas, and I must say a 6 is about what it deserves. It's big, it's expansive, and there's certainly a lot to do, but it's just not fun. Not really. It made me want to play Guild Wars 2, because that game did everything this game is trying to do, but did them better.

I have played through the campaign on PC, and while it's not the rebirth we wanted (nor does it reach the levels of Deus Ex: HR), it's a solid experience IF you can look past a lot of technical and story issues. I wrote an in-depth review of my own on my profile.

@pacocasares Just because a company with a certain history made something doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the product. 6 is above average.

@DigiRave I didn't think it was that bad, just abrupt and nonsensical. Assassin's Creed games have a tendency to paint themselves into a corner with their narratives.

I played it on 360, Xbox One, and PC, and I find that it's a good game, but this series is in serious need of some really new ideas, and as good as the sailing is and piracy may be, it's not the reinvention we need. I wrote a review posted to my profile for my take on things.

as far as lacking the same intensity as the first installment, I pretty much agree; however, an intense introduction should be followed by more exposition in a multi-act narrative. Punchy start leads to expository exploration of character and setting, followed by cliffhanger middle piece (Empire Strikes Back-style), followed by the low-point of the protagonist (exposition), finally ending with bravado and closure, whereupon the protagonist defeats the evil that opposes him and learns a valuable lesson in the process. This second chapter is supposed to be that expository part. The narrative practically demands it.

my rig can handle this on ultra, but it will undoubtedly require the cancerous uPlay. After Farcry 3 and Blacklist, I'm done with Uplay.

Seriously? CHANGE the ending to a game? Why not just go make your own ending? See how close yours is to perfect. There was an article on Gamespot a while back about gamer entitlement, and this is the incarnation of entitlement right here. We as gamers do not own the franchise or the series. Sure, the game is beholden to our tastes, in that our dollars pay the people responsible, but that's the beauty of it. Vote with your dollars. If you don't like a game, don't buy it. You can't just demand that changes be made to satisfy your nitpicky misgivings about the game's plot and drawdown. This kind of immaturity is downright embarrassing. So you don't like the ending? Big deal. It's not YOUR game. They made the game they wanted to make, and I'm sure they put a lot of energy and effort into wrapping up the story. I'm sure BioWare didn't do this to screw with you. Grow up and go outside for a few hours or change the oil in your car, or do homework. Put this energy into something worthwhile.

This article absolutely nails it on the head. I am a die-hard gamer, but I have many friends who are devs, and they get harangued and badgered by passionate fans all the time. I completely agree that this is the state of gaming today.
