Okami. Okami. More Okami.

I could try to explain to you how addicted I am to Okami through carefully constructed argument. Or I could tell you that I bought Devil May Cry 3 last weekend, and haven't played it yet because I couldn't bring myself to stop playing Okami. I played Okami last night for about three to four hours. I got up at seven o'clock this morning and played it for about two and half more hours. Just to sum it up: buy Okami. Buy it now. Right now. And for the love of all that's holy, don't compare this to Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. The Wind Waker isn't even on the same dimensional plain as Okami as far as quality. I didn't really like The Wind Waker. I've only put about three hours into it. My in-game clock informs that in two weeks, I've played Okami about twenty-three hours. Did I mention you should go buy it right now? Yeah, go buy it right now.

However, the feeling is bitter-sweet, because we're not ever getting a sequel!

R.I.P. Clover. To the fiery underworld with the corporate sludge on Capcom's board of directors!! :x

And lastly, read this.  It sums up exactly how I feel about the topic.

Devil May Cry 3: Yes? No? Maybe So?

I'm really considering getting Devil May Cry 3 (the special editon of course).  I have the first one, and never bothered with the second one, but now I'm considering the third.  Anything to say for or against this purchase? I think I am, but I'd like some feedback on the idea first.   So, yay or nay?

DS: No, Okami: Yes

Well, I went back to the store with the $90 DS, and it was sold.  :x  Needless to say, I was (and still am) really, really ticked off at myself for not buying it when I first saw it.  Alas, Trauma Center sits in my closet, blissfully un-played for yet another day. :(  I beginning to think that divine intervention is preventing me from ever getting another DS again. :P

So what have I been doing then?  Well, I still had money burning a hole in my pocket, so I went down to the nearest EB to check out the newest releases.  GameInformer gave Okami a 9.5, and named it Game of the Month, and GS handed it the coveted Editor's Choice Award, so I got that.  I've only played through the tutorial so far, but it's mesmerizing to play, almost like playing an oil painting, if that makes any sense.  I can't wait to play it some more, I'll have another update soon. :)

DS Lite!!!!!!!

Today at my favorite store ever they had a used DS for $90, and me being an idiot, passed up on it. However, later on after the store closed I realized what I'd found, and will be going to tomorrow to pick it up. Hurray! :D Remember like two months ago when I got Trauma Center? Yeah, I haven't played it yet because I was holding out to play it on hardware that wasn't broken, so it will be like getting a new game at the same time for free! :D

I finished up Killzone and fell into a bit of a gaming slump for a few days, but yesterday I picked up Mercenaries. I hadn't played it in months because I got stuck on one particularly frustrating level, and just moved on. I erased my old game and started a new one, and am back in love with it. Of course, I haven't gotten back to that level I got stuck on before, so we'll see how long that lasts.

And following up the Valkyrie Profile thing, I seriously considered it. I really did. But in the end I reminded my myself that I really don't like RPG's, and Valkyrie Profile was an RPG, and that was the end of it. And in closing, I'm only 5% away from level 25, Defias Brotherhood. Yay again! :D

Killzone, Heroes, and Valkyrie Profile

I finished Killzone about an hour ago,  the ending was kind of lame; the final level consisted of shooting a bunch guys and running the end.  How's that for a finale?  But the rest of the game was good, so I can't complain. :)  So to summarize, was it better than Halo?  No, the graphics, controls, and yes, the story were not as good.  But as a game, Killzone is worthy of the title "decent FPS."

Did anybody else watch the premiere of Heroes last night on NBC?  I watched it and liked it a lot, I'll definitely watch it next Monday.  The first episode didn't really start the storyline, it just introduced the characters and what they can do.  There's this Japanese guy who can bend time and space, a girl who can't be physically hurt, a painter who paints pictures of the future, a guy who can fly, and this woman who blacks out and when see wakes up everyone around her is dead.  It was very cool, and I'll certainly be watching it next week.

And, in closing, I'm considering buying Valkyrie Profile, has anybody out there played it?  Well that's all for now, over and out! ;)

Jericho (That's With An "H")

My most-anticipated new show of the fall TV season, Jericho, premieres this Wednesday on CBS, and I want everyone to at least watch the pilot and give it a chance.  You may initially think the story sounds stupid, but think it's cool.  Here's the setup:

A guy named Jake comes back to his hometown of Jericho, Kansas; a small little backwater town he hasn't been back to in about twenty years.  He only comes to spend the day with his parents who have been begging him for years to come see them again (he also hasn't seen them in twenty years; they never leave Jericho).  When he pulls back into town all his old school buddies find him and start asking him where he's been and what he's doing back.  He never gives anyone a straight answer about where he's been.  He tells one person he's been in the navy, another one he's been off to a far-off college, and he just tells different things to everyone who asks.  He goes to his parent's house and stays a little while and soon wants to leave.  His parents beg him to stay longer, but he refuses, gets in his car and starts to head out of town.  As he crosses the city limits, he sees a huge mushroom cloud come up over the horizon.  He stares at it in amazement, and gets in a car wreck.  He car gets totalled, and he has no choice but to walk back to Jericho.  He then finds out that the explosion came from Denver; and no one seems to be able to get in touch with anyone from there, like the whole city just blanked out.  This then happens in every big city across the country, until Jericho is completely isolated from the outside world.  The show is about the town's isolation, pieceing together what exactly happened, and dealing with demons from Jake's past.

It sounds really interesting to me, and I have the same feeling with it like I did when Surface came on.  For those who don't know, Surface was a show on last fall season, and was easily the best show of the year in my opinion.  I watched it religiously.  Unfortunately, no one else did.  The season ended on a cliff hanger with many questions still unanswered, and then the show was unceremoniously canceled when this season's line-up was unveiled and Surface wasn't on there.  I ask you only give Jericho a chance, don't leave me just standing there holding the bag like when Surface was canceled.  It's on Wednesday night; mark your calanders. ;)

I'm Considering a Wii. Shock Ensues.

Let me just go ahead and clear the air about this:  the name is still stupid.  The name will always be stupid.  Now that we're past that, after all the announcements about the Wii recently,  I now have three reasons to want a Wii:  Red Steel, Zelda, it's almost $200 cheaper, and yes,  anyone who checked the launch list out knows that Splinter Cell: Double Agent is coming to the Wii.  My only question about that is,  will Double Agent for the Wii be the Xbox, PS2, current-gen version, or the 360, PS3 next-gen version?  And by the way, Zelda didn't factor into that decision nearly as much as you would it would.  Here's one little tid-bit people seem to have forgotten about LoZ:TP:  it's coming to the GameCube.  Nintendo has said multiple times that it's going to be the same game.  Why would I go pay $250 for a system to play a game that I can play on another system that I already own?  I've always thought Red Steel looked cool,  Samurai sword fights plus shoot-outs with the Wiimote just sounds plain fun.  Also, it's made by Ubisoft, and everyone should know about my fanboy-status with them by now.

Also, I'm typing this from a FireFox web browser.  You see, Google offers a bunch of free downloads if you look, and among these are a FireFox web browser, web-accelerator (my internet's running much faster than before), and Google Earth is giving me a hard-time working, but I'm confidant that if I kick it enough it'll work.  And just to put it in perspective, I can now choose between Internet Explorer and FireFox when I get on the web.  That's just cool. 8)

Xenosaga, Killzone, and Books. Lots of Books.

First of all, I'm sorry I haven't been on GS lately, but I fell into an internet slump.  And I became addicted to MineSweeper and Internet Reversi.

Anyways,  I got Xenosaga: Episode I for $10 because years later I'm still hearing about and thought it was worth checking out.  I then discovered that while it's a good RPG, I still don't really like RPG's to begin with.  But the the story looks cool so I'll play through it anyways. KOS-MOS is as awesome as everyone is always saying though; she's like a female Terminator with a laser built into her arm and the ability to call giant fighting robots to her side at any time. Cool. 8)

Also,  I don't know why people are always saying Killzone was so bad, I'm really liking it right now.  The enemies are actually interesting! No offense to Halo junkies, but face the facts:  the Covenant are really generic enemies, even for Sci-Fi games.  The Helghast, the enemies in Killzone, are much more interesting.  Colonists move to a remote planet called Helgha, far away from the main galactic galaxy.  Undetected atmospheric differences make the colonists almost all die, but they find a way to live eventually.  However their children are born bigger, stronger, and faster than normal humans.  However, the planet of Helgha is a barren wasteland, and even with enhanced strength, they still barely carve out an existence.  Over ninety percent of Helgha's youth is recruited into the army.  Eventually the planet is forgotten about by the Galactic Federation (or whatever you want to call it), and they get fed up with it, and launch an assault with their huge army, resulting in the first Helghan War.  After a long bitter struggle, the Helghast are subdued, and heavy penalties are placed on them as punishment, making things worse than before.  After decades of this, a new leader rises, reunites the Helghast people and their pride, and launches an attack at neighboring planet Vekta, thus starting the Second Helghan War.  You start off as a soldier fighting on Vekta who eventually gets entangled in a bunch of betrayals and conspiracies and stuff.  It's much more interesting in the story department than Halo if nothing else.

I've also bought (almost) all of Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, some seven books (I'm missing one prequel and one sequel).  I've also finally found a copy of Mario Puzo's The Godfather, I've been looking for one forever (I refuse to pay insane mark-ups at Barnes and Noble).  All three movies are based on the book, and everyone knows the book is always better than the movie.  The book's paperback, and I wanted hard-back, but whatever.  The Foundation series is also a very famous Sci-Fi series with a very intricate, fascinating storyline that's way to long and intricate for me to (or want to) type it all here.  Check Wikipedia.

That's all for now, check back next time I have enough new interesting stuff to type up. ;)  Actually, as boring as my life is that might be a while. :P

Short Update

I just got back from the wedding, it wasn't so bad; lots of dancing. :)  Also, I got my Ultimate Spider-Man disc cleaned for $5, and now it works great.  Yay! :D Also, since Ioden is clearly never ever bringing ForumSpotting back, the CCU has started CompleteSpotting, which is basically the CCU flavor of the same thing.  Double yay! :D

Game/Life Updates (Now With Shenmue!)

Sorry I haven't been on recently, but with school starting up and me constantly being able to buy new games at my favorite store in the world, I've just been kind of busy.  Sorry.

As for new purchases, I've got three (minus one).  I bought Shenmue II about a week ago (for $12), and Killzone ($12 also) and Ultimate Spider-Man (for $5, unfortunately there was a reason it was that cheap) yesterday.  Shenmue II and Killzone work fine, but when I got it home to look at, Ultimate Spider-Man was covered in scratches.  I was optimistic, and put it in my Xbox.  There is absolutely no sound during the cutscenes, meaning I can't follow the story, which is half the reason I bought the game.  The store has a 7-day, no questions asked return policy, so Ultimate Spider-Man is going back.  I should have been suspicious when it came in a Blockbuster box, but I went with it anyways since it was only $5.  Life lesson for a gamer:  never ever ever ever buy a used rental game.  I can only imagine the atrocities they incur.  But I'm getting my money back, and Shenmue II and Killzone work fine, so I can't really complain.  :)

I'd talk more about the games, but I have to drive 3 hours to a wedding!!!  The horror!!  So yeah, I should be back on Monday or late Sunday.  And to end on a positive note, hurray, no school Monday!! Labor Day!!  :D
