@Pupchu: poor Xinnie the Pooh. May he rot for what he's done to the world.

Only coughing up a million virtue-signaling bucks? That's insufficient pandering to leftists, Sony. You must kneel and wash some feet at the event to be fully-groveled in support of Saint George and atone for things you've never done.

And that's another million dollars of your customers' hard-earned dollars wasted.

Now, how about David Dorn and David Underwood; do their lives matter? How about Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Ben Carson and Walter Williams?

Is "holiday" similar to Christmas?

I wonder if there will be any interesting and innovative new titles, or just more of the same walk/talk/fight boring stuff that keeps me going back to the tower-defense, racing, puzzle and pinball genres.

@StokeMeAClipper: I appreciate the effort you put into your reasoning but having read it all, I just want to go sit under a tree with a good classic book. Once the grass dries out a bit this afternoon, I'll probably do just that.

Still very happy with our PS3s - the "walk/talk/fight" stuff just bores me to death and that seems to be 95% of titles the last few years. Phenomenal graphics and technical achievements, utterly boring after 30 seconds of looking at them.

Tower-defense, puzzle, pool, pinball, abstract-shooters like Galaga and racing games do the job for me (I still enjoy Savage Moon a decade later after rising high in the worldwide rankings and Zuma is still as challenging and frustrating as ever) - play for a little while, then get back to real life; those are neglected in favor of wasting days or weeks now, questing after something meaningless. I have no interest in being a "gamer", there's a big wide real world out there, but once in a while I'll play video games for an hour or two. Guess I'm getting old, but back in the day I had my addictions, and have 4 real pinball machines and an original Tempest standup arcade console to prove it.

I would have considered a PS4 or the next-gen if I could keep playing my old favorites (I clicked on this article hoping against hope for PS3 BC), but since they aren't compatible back to the PS3 and most of them haven't been ported to the new hardware, I'll keep the machines that let me keep playing my old favorites.

This stuff sort of makes me want to just go sit under a leafy tree and read a book.

@James_xeno: I've never heard of any of those people or their background and reputations. Not all of us are steeped in this stuff; other things are going on in life.

Can you summarize the point you're trying to make in addition to rattling off a list of names?

He grabbed his ankles for "unionized voice actors". Unions kill everything they touch.

Hope the lesson was learned for the next time: productivity and cost-controls matter.

Unless it's ridiculously expensive, I'll buy it just to get Tempest on my big plasma TV. And I already have an original Tempest arcade cabinet in the basement - that's how much I like Tempest. It was the only arcade game I kept coming back to, unloading pocketsful of quarters when they were new.

Yeah, I'm old. I also know 99% of today's run-shoot-monsters games are so boring I haven't even bothered to buy an Xbone or PS4 - my PS3 still provides hours of fun with gems like Savage Moon. Give us more brilliant abstract shooters like Tempest, tower-defense, racers like Gran Turismo and puzzles and I'm back in.
