Aside from talking face-to-face, I almost always use texting these days. I used to primarily use the internet or phone calls, but virtually everybody texts in college.
UChicago was one of the schools I was considering when I went through the college application process last year (I'm at Duke now). I was really attracted to its intellectual vibe, even though I ended up elsewhere. Why I chose Duke over Chicago (if you're curious): 1. Super-cold weather makes me depressed. 2. Chicago's computer science department is really small, and I wanted to do CS as one of my majors, so I wanted a school with a somewhat more prominent CS department. 3. I'm not too crazy about the humanities, so I didn't want to deal with the Core Curriculum. I'm sure it would have been a great intellectual experience, but I have a finite amount of time and energy, and I'd rather spend it on science classes. 4. Duke is closer to home for me, and I didn't want to go too far away (starting college is already enough of a change of pace for me). As you can see, my decision was based on rather specific reasons. I think Chicago is a great school, and if you're an intellectual kind of guy, you'll probably have a blast. I have some friends starting there next week--shoot me a PM in a few months, and I'll tell you what they think of it. As far as recommendations for other schools go, check out the schools with good chemistry graduate programs--usually that means they have a solid undergraduate program as well. Also, you usually can't go wrong with a school in the top 20 or your flagship state school.
