@Quit_Taffing I agree that no one will ever take down WoW. My opinion on this is that when it came out it was so much more accessible to the general public and just further ahead than a lot of other MMOs out there (I understand there were others people enjoyed before WoW) which without any good competition allowed it to balloon up to this huge thing. And before any comparable game came out so many people had invested so much into it that moving to a different MMO and starting from scratch was not an option they wanted to consider so they have stayed. I truly believe that if WoW were to be releasing now with other great MMOs out and on the horizon, it may not have fared as well. They just had the benefit of being the first ones to do it right.
@Agent-M @williebazerka @HarryOsborn If it looks like an MMO, sounds like an MMO and plays like an MMO, its probably an MMO. I think people that don't play MMOs or have only tried WoW, don't really understand how much the lines have blurred.
@toddx77 Yes, but Blizzard was the developer of Warcraft before they switched to WoW, and Bioware was the developer of KoTOR before they switched to SWTOR. In this situation, Bethesda is not the developer of ESO as was the case with the other two games, so one would assume that they would continue to develop the single player games. Remember, Warcraft and KoTOR were not 'Game of the Year' games like Skyrim was. They will not jeopardize that.
@kurtven They only consume as much time as you let them, just like any other game. Would you be upset if they released the next Elder Scrolls game and they said that you would have 500+ hours of content? Wait, Skyrim already provides unlimited quests, so, how much time can you sink into it?
