Hello everyone, I hope you are all well. I know this is a bit of a random blog, but I hope you will at least read it to the end, especially if you are a Pokémon fan.

Let us start with the topic of Gamespot. Now, I am sure it is of no question that everyone knows I have come back multiple times, and each time I do come back...well, I leave. I do not stay that long because, sadly, Gamespot is not what it used to be. At least not for me. I remember signing on and staying on all day to talk about games (Pokémon most of the time). However, now it seems that I cannot return for more than two weeks without having that feeling of boredom. I just do not find the fun in posting anymore.

I believe the best time I ever had on this site was when I was a member of the active Pokémon League Union. Posting with all of my friends, talking about the upcoming release of Diamond and Pearl, battling, trading, establishing a Gym system, etc. All of that was without a doubt my best time here on Gamespot.

But now...I go back to that very same union and find that it is completely dead. It really does make me sad and I wish I didn't have to see it like that. I was there for the two best leaders the union had, but sadly had to watch them both resign. Now, I am not sure what happened. I am not sure if Gamespot as a whole is dying out, or if it was just a matter of that union. All that I do know is that I miss the PLU, and I miss it a lot.

Now, the next topic is Pokémon. I suppose I touched base on it just then in the last section, but now I will make myself a bit more clear on why I have returned. I have been playing Soul Silver again quite a bit. It's an every day thing for me after I get out of class. I love the game so much and it brings me a great amount of happiness.

As I stated in the last section of this blog, we had a Gym Challenge in the Pokémon League Union. A lineup of incredible trainers of unimaginable strength. We had the best of the best...and I was one of them. Ever since those days at PLU, I have stuck to my roots as an Electric trainer and have attempted to become better and better at the game. Being one of the founding Gym leaders was quite fun. Having to accept challenges, take part in the battles, etc. Again, I miss those days, and while playing Pokémon Soul Silver recently it has really made me have a strong nostaglic feeling swelling inside me.

Which brings me to the final part of the blog. As I have stated, every time I have returned here, I generally leave within a matter of weeks. That is because I never found that spot that could compare with the PLU. Sadly, seeing as how that union has died, I do not think I will again. At least, not in the same sense. I have come back this time to ask all of the people that used to be in that union, new players of the games, and just Pokémon fans in general: Would you join me in creating a new Union for Pokémon?

I want those days of battling back. Having the pleasure and pride of being a Gym Leader, having numerous friends to go and converse with, and most importantly, having that family of trainers that we could just go and be around. Those days were gone for me, but a recent feeling made me want to come back and at least give it one last try.

I know a lot of people from said union have left over time. I am not sure who still remains, or if Pokémon is even in your lives anymore. However, if there are only a handful of people then that alone would be enough to quench this thirst for being a part of that very group once more.

Thank you all for coming, I'm sure you're wondering why I've gathered you all here. Sit down, remain silent, and allow me to tell you the story of what's been going on.

Let's start off with what I've been playing. Is it really any surprise? I'll let you take one guess. Go ahead, guess...Wrong, it wasn't My Little Ponies, it was Dead Island. You were close though, have a cookie.

So, in all, Dead Island is a solid game with great co-op play. My two friends and myself have been having a blast these past few days and we're not even close to finishing yet. We've been going at a moderate pace due to trying to wait on each other before progressing. At the moment, I'm the highest level and I must say, those zombies don't mess around. Screw up a few times and you'll be on the ground faster than Snooki at a club after one too many drinks. After playing this much of the game I think I have a pretty solid grasp of what the game has to offer and I'd be comfortable giving the game a 8/10. It's definitely a buy if you are going to have some friends to play with.

Now, what else? Gaming is all that matters, right? Well, sure, you're half right. Let me tell you what I have planned in a few weeks. G3 is a fundraiser event that allows us, the gamers, to play for charity. I won't go into many details on the organization itself, I'll link you at the end of this blog. What I can tell you is that I'll be participating in this event and I hope to do it live. Twenty four hours with me and my friends playing video games non-stop to raise money for charity. I'll be posting more on this a little later in the month when I get more figured out.

Other than all of this gaming news, I haven't been doing much. I've been posting a lot around the internet, getting to know Scarlett Johansson a little better, and just enjoying some music. Not much, but hey, I'm entertained. I must tell you all to check out Deadmau5 if you haven't before. He's such a great artist. I think I'll even link you to a great song of his. Do you need a ladder?

I've been keeping up with Gamescom for the past few days now and I have to say, I'm excited. Not only do we have great coverage provided by Gamespot, but I got to see some of the best pictures to come out of Skyrim yet.

Now, In Oblivion I played as the Khajiit race. If you're unfamiliar with what that is, it's this:

It's pretty much, to put it simply, cat people. When first playing Oblivion, this race stood out to me the most, perhaps because I love cats. As I started playing the game and interacting with other Khajiits, I became more aware of the fact that I made a good choice in choosing my race. It seemed as if I was the least populated race, which was perfectly fine with me. A lot of the Khajiits in the game are poor, or thiefs, but I was the warrior of the bunch who, in my own mind, was the hero of the Khajiit race. Truthfully, I was not. I was just another Khajiit in a large world, working my way through the more prolific races in the game such as the Nords or Elves. However, in the long run, I was the hero of the game, so I suppose it counts for something.

Now, on to Skyrim. The focus of this blog is not to inform you of my fantasy to be a hero among cats, it's instead to show you just how much Elder Scrolls has grown graphically. Usually, graphics aren't a big issue with me and playing games. I'm not going to say I don't like good graphics, because I do. But I don't mind the occasional poor graphic, good gameplay type of game. However, after seeing some of the screenshots to come out of Gamescom, I'm beyond excited to play as my cat man once again. Here is the major graphic overhaul of the Khajiit race:

Did your jaw just drop? Mine sure did. After seeing this astonishing transformation, I'm as anxious as I've ever been to get my hands on this game. We might have always heard the famous line: Remember remember the fifth of November...But I think after November eleventh, we're going to have a new date to remember.

So for the past few weeks I've been hopping on and off games at a pretty quick pace. There is so much to play and so little time. I've not played many new games, but I have made a couple of purchases of fairly new games in the past couple of weeks. I'll cover those later in the blog, but for now, it's what I've been playing.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

I've recently completed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. I have to say, after playing the past two games, this one was a lot different. I suppose I was used to being able to roam around Hogwarts and explore, but Deathly Hallows was much different. I should have expected it though, you don't really go to Hogwarts at all until Part 2 and even then, I highly doubt I'll be able to explore with everything going on.

Gameplay wise, the mechanics are also different. It's more like a third person shooter with spells, rather than a casting game. In Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince, you could cast spells through moving the right stick in the corresponding pattern. It was quite fun, and something I enjoyed. In Deathly Hallows, however, you just select what spell to cast, lock on with LT, and cast with RT. Not exactly what I wanted, but hey, I knew coming into the game that it was going to be different mechanics...just not that different.

The game is quite short, only a matter of hours at the most. There are a lot of collectibles you can go for, but it doesn't add much fun to the game. It gets really repetitive with the mid-story missions that have Harry running around trying to free muggle-borns. You have to do this series of three missions before progressing with the story. Luckily, there weren't many instances like this, but enough to get irritating.

In all, I give the game a 5 out of 10. It could have been a lot better, and after playing the past two, it really left me disappointed. I may be a Harry Potter fan, and I would probably play anything with his face on it, it just didn't live up to my expectations.


Now then, after that small review of the game, I'll move on to my recent purchases.

Purchases:

Best Buy recently had a buy one get one fifty percent off deal. Of course, I took advantage of it. I wound up purchasing Alice: Madness Returns, which comes with the free copy of the original Alice game made by American McGee. I'm very much looking forward to playing it, and will probably give another mini review, if not a full length review when I am finished with it.

My second purchase, which was the fifty percent off, was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Now, after finishing the first one, I am looking forward to playing this. I know, I just gave the game a five out of ten, but like I said, I am a very big fan of Harry Potter. After watching the last movie, it's like a part of my childhood was over as well. Now after playing every game in the Harry Potter series, it's going to be like another part of my childhood also comes to a close. Sad, but I'm very much looking forward to playing it.

So, after many months of being away and questioning if I would come back, I find myself wandering about the forums, unions, and blogs. Truthfully, I never stopped coming here, I just came for all of the game news.

I suppose I stopped posting here because I was so caught up in gaming. Still, most of the people I talked to here I did keep in touch with. For those of you who I did lose connection with, I apologize. Between gaming every day with Brawl55 (Gamespot username), and wondering where to go in life, things get hectic and I don't always have the time to come back and post. However, I am going to try and make a genuine effort to start blogging again, and more so than that, to start posting again.

I noticed when I got back today that I had a new union invite from jediknight52501. Turns out, he invited me to join his Best of Gamespot Union. Needless to say, with a title like that, I was flattered. So thank you, Chris, I'll do my best to get around to posting in your union and try to bring a little more activity about the boards.

In terms of gaming...well, so much to say, so little time to keep your attention. As for E3, a boat load of games caught my attention, none more so than Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Halo 4. Obviously Halo 4 will not be coming out for a while, so there is little to talk about, but Skyrim does look quite amazing. Aside from that, I have to say that I'm quite disappointed with how the new Fable game looked. Yes, Kinect enabled is quite neat and the features they showed were spiffy, but other than that, no melee? I'm not sure about everyone else, but I do like to have the ability to swing my sword around now and then. The last thing that I was pretty excited for is, it should come as no surprise, Assassins Creed: Revelations. Now, Assassins Creed is my favorite series (aside from Halo) and the ending to Ezio's story looks to be quite amazing. I'm beyond anxious to step up and play, but at the same time, I'm a little sad to say goodbye to Ezio. November 15th is sure to be a great day.

I suppose that's it for now. I'll make another blog post tomorrow or the following day telling about my recent gaming adventures and what I've been up to in the gaming world. If I wrote about it here, it would be another thirty minute read.

This year has by far been terrific for gamers. We've had so many great games come out and we barely have time to finish one game before another comes out and is just as good. Starting in January we had a small idea of what we were going to get. I don't think we expected the full outcome though. I'm very pleased with how things have turned out and given that Gamestop has done their GotY's then I thought it might be proper for me to do one as well. The year is officially over and I have played all I needed to play in order to get this list down to what I think it needs to be.

I will start with my individual categories, then work up to GotY.

Best Action Adventure

Red Dead Redemption

There really isn't another choice for this. Sure, I can throw in some great games that would fit this category but let's be honest, can you beat Red Dead? No. Between the fantastic single player up to the very entertaining multiplayer you can't really pick another game that suits the title of Best Action Adventure game quite like RDR.

Best Rythym Game

DJ Hero 2

I can't even begin to describe how much better DJ Hero 2 is over the original title. I had a blast on the first DJ Hero game, whether it be making a quick set, playing online, or just playing in general. When I first played DJ Hero 2 and saw all of the new features, new mechanics, and new setlist...let's just say I was blown away. I actually feel like a DJ while playing this. I get so into what I'm doing I'll probably miss half of the notes trying to flail my arms in the air to hype up a crowd that isn't even there. So to put it simply, it's a great game.

Best Role Playing Game

Final Fantasy XIII

From the amazing graphics and amazing characters to the core mechanics and great sounds, I love it. First getting to play with Lightning and learning her story was amazing. I've still not fully beaten the game, but I can still appreciate just how beautiful and brilliant the game truly is. If you want a world or story to lose yourself in for a while, I'd strongly suggest picking FFXIII up for a good sit down.

Best Racing Game

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

Was it really any surprise? Let's look at it this way. When we all heard that the same company who made Burnout Paradise was picking up Hot Pursuit for their new project, who didn't raise their hand in favor of this being a great game? No one? Even way back there in the back? Didn't think so. When you see this developing company pick a game up, you better be ready to play something that will blow you away. Just like with Paradise, I can sit down and have hours of fun with NFS:HP.

Best First Person Shooter

Battlefield Bad Company 2

Notsureifsrs? Yes, I am. Even over Halo: Reach, yes. As a matter of fact, Reach is on the bottom of the FPS totem for me this year. It really came down to BC2 and Black Ops. Here's the thing. I can probably sit on Black Ops longer and have more fun, but I can't deny just how great of a game BC2 really is. It goes with what I always say, even though it's my favorite game, doesn't mean it's the best game. BC2 really perfected FPS gameplay overall and I'm happy to see it getting a lot more recognition than the first game. Bullet drop, destruction to a higher level, great weapons, vehicles that are a blast to drive...I mean really, why should this not be on top?

Best Fighting Game

Super Street Fighter IV

My oh my how great is this game? I do not believe there has been another fighting game I have had as much fun with as this. Street Fighter IV was borderline perfect in my eyes. To come out with SSFIV and make it even better than SFIV seemed impossible. But guess what? They sure did. Even if I go into a ranked game and lose by two perfects, I'm still having fun, I still have a smile on my face, and I'm ready to play again. There isn't a time when I play this when I don't have fun.

Best Action Game

Dante's Inferno

I can't deny the fact that it has a great story and provides me with a great feeling of playing through Inferno. More or less, anyway. Overall, the game feels way too much like God of War. Maybe that's why I even stayed with it as long as I did. While going for a full 1000g out of the game, it got very repetitive and I didn't want to play through it a second time. However, when I started to replay the game, I felt a little more anxious to play than I was before. Going through the story again with all my powers and skills just made it even more fun. Though it's not the greatest game, it certainly provided entertainment.

Best Sports Game

Fifa 11

Fifa 11 adds new modes, and improves on older ones. It's by far the best title out this year in terms of sports games. You play online, you're having fun. You play Manager Mode, you're having fun. You play in the arena while trying to set up free kicks from fourty meters out and missing every time, it's still fun. I don't think I can migrate over to any other sport related game and have as many laughs, or moments that make me feel like a beast than I can on this game. My advice is to play with a friend in online team play and watch the good times roll.

Game of the Year

The last enemy that shall be destroyed...

My pick for Game of the Year is one that had me playing non stop for days on end. One that I could play single player and learn a mans story. A man who, after being wronged, just wanted to be with his family. But this man couldn't be with is family because of other men needing other men dead. And in the end, the man got to be with his family, and even in the final moments, he had his family on his mind until the last breath had been taken and last bullet had been fired.

After playing this amazing story, you find yourself wanting some fun with friends. This game offers just that, and it does it very well. From forming an eight man posse and roaming the wild west or playing co-op games and trying to accomplish the greatest time, you are constantly having fun.

A game that can make you go through so many emotions is certainly one for the ages. We'll be able to look back and see this go down in the books as one of our greatest games of our age. Though this page in that book may be a little red with the blood of our old friends and new enemies, make no mistake that the page will be able to be looked at and smiled upon as one of the few games that has reached such a monumental feat of becoming one of the best games of all time.

Hello all, hope you enjoyed my previous blog. I left a few people out, but have no fear, you will be fooled next year.

Now, on to the real blog. Lately I've been playing a lot of Modern Warfare 2 and I have to say, I've been having a great time. I've mainly been playing with a buddy (Gamertag will not be given due to spammers) over Xbox Live, but now and then I get the chance to play with Brawl55 (Phobia614) and ChaosMakerX (Fuuraibo).

Today I was able to get in a lot of great matches with the latter two and had some crazy stuff happen. For instance, who in their right mind would have thought that both, Brawl and ChaosMakerX, would get a EMP in each of their Care Packages? Um...not me? That was ridiculous to see. Chaos called his in first, got the EMP and then Brawl called his in and got his EMP. I was baffled. To make up for it though, the next one Chaos called in was a resupply.

The new maps are great in MW2. Yes, the price is a bit high...but keep in mind that Infinity Ward didn't price it, Moneysoft did. Crash and Overgrown are great to have back and I've enjoyed my time on both of them. Bailout, Salvage, and Storm are all great too. I think I like Salvage most of all. Nice close range spots. Overall I give the map pack a 5/5 when it comes to fun. I'm not worried about price because Infinity Ward did a great job.

Part I

Hello everyone. Hope you have all been well over the time that has passed us since my last blog.

The title of this blog come from the Pokemon League Union. I don't know if any of you recall or not, but that used to be my home, rather than the forums. I have been watching the PLU for a few days and it makes me sad to see that the union has died a lot since I was a officer there long ago. There are still some members posting (a lot of familiar faces) but the majority of people have left. I decided to join the union again because I'd like to see it back on its feet with a lot of the activity it used to have.

Doing this will hopefully come easier than I am expecting. With the release of Heart Gold and Soul Silver this week, I'm hoping to aim a lot of you to the union for great fun, people to battle and trade with, Pokemon news and overall just a nice place to hangout with fellow lovers of the franchise. Once in the union you will notice quite a few discussions going on and even greater, The Gym Leader Challenge. Once the union has enough members again hopefully the Gyms can kick back off as the previous ones did.

So at the least, just give it a glance and see if you would like to join the community there. I hope to see some of you fellow Pokemon fans over at the Pokemon League Union.

Part II

As the title states I have picked up a new game this week. If you read the previous part of this blog then you have probably already figured out what it is. Pokemon Soul Silver.

Playing SS makes me have some great memories because it follows the Gold/Silver/Crystal storyline to a T. I loved every moment of my Crystal time when I was younger and now with the release of HG/SS, I can start to make even more memories for myself.

The unique thing about this game is, like my beloved Crystal, you can obtain 16 Gym Badges instead of just the normal 8. You can travel to Kanto after you have the Johto badges out of the way (which are very fun to obtain).The Elite Four will also need to be beaten first, but they are actually in the Indigo Plateau which is located in Kanto. Being able to travel around two regions instead of just one is really nice for a change. Sometimes I got too bored with traveling around one specific region after a while. I don't really see that happening now though. There are a lot of other great things about this game but I'm going to leave that up to you to find out what they are.

If any of you have HG/SS then let me know. I'll be glad to battle when I get my team ready. As of right now I am unbalanced. I have spent the last seven hours in the game trying to hatch a Growlithe with the nature I wanted but was unsuccessful. I finally gave up for the time being and am now working on getting the right nature Dratini. Should be fun. 10,240 steps per egg are needed to hatch it. Here comes another seven hours.
