Yes, I know I haven't made a blog in a month, but up until about a week ago, I've been pretty busy with school and whatnot.
Anyway, I asked you all if I should actually do a top 10 games of 2011, considering that we're nearly halfway into 2012, but there were a few of you who said "Hey, why not?".
Anyway, let's get started.
#10: Okamiden
It's a new Okami.... on the DS. Not a whole lot to say really. But, I had a lot of fun with this game. The controls were surprisingly good, the graphics were good (especially for a DS game), it had great boss battles, and the touch screen worked really well for the Celestial Brush. If you liked Okami, and you have a DS, you should pick it up.
#9: Mario Kart 7

Since the release of the 3DS in early 2011, it was only a matter of time before we got a new Mario Kart game. And this one did not dissapoint. Mario Kart 7 added a few new features to the Mario Kart formula, such as gliding, driving underwater, and kart customization. And I think most of the changes were for the better. The biggest problem I have with MK7 is the lack of a single player VS. mode, but it's not a complaint that extremely hinders my opinion of the game. Definitely pick it up if you're a fan of Mario Kart.
#8: Professor Layton and the Last Specter
If you didn't already know, I'm a fan of the Professor Layton series. If you already knew that, then seeing a Professor Layton game on one of my Top Games lists was probably expected. Anyway, Last Specter didn't have as good of a story as Unwound Future, but the puzzles have definitely improved. Not much else to say, really. If you like the Professor Layton games, than you'll like this, but if you don't, then this game isn't going to change your mind about the series.
#7: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Nathan Drake, aka "Not Indiana Jones" is back once again in the third installment of the series. Not much has changed in terms of gameplay or contorl since the last game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. In terms of story, it's not quite as good as 2, but it's still interesting. If you weren't a fan of the first two games, you probably won't find much to like here. However, if you're a fan of the series, you should play it. (Although, if you are a fan of the series, you've probably already played this one. :P)
#6: Kirby's Return to Dreamland

And now for a game that everyone seems to love, Kirby's Return to Dreamland. While this game isn't doing a whole lot of new things for the series, it's still fun as hell. It's essentially a newer Kirby Super Star in terms of gameplay, and I love Kirby Super Star. One new thing that this game does bring to the table is 4-player multiplayer. The multiplayer in this game is extremely fun, and not quite as hectic as New Super Mario Bros. Wii. If you're a fan of Kirby, or just 2D platformers in general, you should definitely play this game.
#5: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
I was kind of surprised that I liked this game so much, considering I'm not the biggest fan of fighting games (and I'm not too good at them, either). However, there was just something about this game that I found to be really enjoyable. Whether it was the characters, the dialogue, the music, I'm not sure. I do know, however, that this game is extremely fun, and any fan of fighting games should pick this up. By the way, if you have this game for PS3, and you want to see how fast you can kick my ass, let me know. My PSN ID is GoldenEyeSonic.
#4: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
And now, Skyward Sword. This game has amazing controls, a fantastic art style, interesting characters, amazing dungeons (and boss fights), and a really good story. However, for everything good that this game does, it has a lot of problems. First of all, a lot of the side quests in this game seem to be just fetch quests, which can be pretty boring. Not only that, but there are also a few fetch quests in the main story that seem to drag for longer than they need to. It's not one of my favorite Zelda games, but despite it's problems, I still think it's a great game on it's own.
#3: Portal 2

And now for one of the greatest puzzle games I've ever played, Portal 2. I LOVE this game. The dialogue is hilarious, the voice acting is fantastic, and the puzzles are amazing. One of the very few complaints I have about this game is that it's a bit short, but to be fair, it's significantly longer than the first game. Not to mention that this game has a co-op mode to extend the overall experience. However, it's recommended to play split-screen rather than online, unless you and the person online are communicating through Skype or some other form of voice chat, because communication can be a problem in online co-op without vocal communication. Again, amazing game. Buy it. Now.
#2: Sonic Generations

This game. Holy s***, this game. Where do I even begin? This game is amazing. Not only is this the best 3D Sonic game since Adventure 2 (besides Colors), this is one of my favorite Sonic games of all time. The level design in this game is fantastic. There are so many branching/optional paths to take in every level, it's ridiculous. The music may be only remixes of older songs, but all of the remixes in this game are really well done. Sega made the right desicion making Jun Senoue the musical director in this game. The controls, while a bit stiff (in 3D), are a definite improvement over Colors. This game does have a few problems, however. This game can be beaten in about 5 hours or less, depending on how well you can beat the stages. There are a few other problems I could list, but I'll go into further detail when I make a full review for this game. Either way, you should buy this game.
#1: Pokemon Black/White Version

Some of you probably saw this coming. To some of you, it's no surprise that I love Pokemon, and Black/White is no exception. The battles are fast-paced and fun, I really like most of the new Pokemon designs, the characters are interesting and well-developed, the music is catchy and memorable, every town has a unique theme, and this is also the first game to feature animated sprites (which is awesome). However, this game has a few problems. First of all, The region seems a bit linear. It's impossible to get lost in this game. Also, there are more than a few towns that don't seem to serve any purpose other than having a gym. Basically, not a whole lot of towns have a lot to do in them. There are a few other nitpicks that I have, but I won't go into much further detail. I'm hoping that Black 2/White 2 fixes some of the problems I had with this game, but overall, Black/White is an amazing game, my 2nd favorite generation of Pokemon, and my #1 game of 2011.
Anyway, I really hope you all enjoyed my list, and I hope you can forgive it for being five months late. :P
Like I said before, I'll be willing to fight anyone that wants to fight me in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, although I'll probably lose.
That's all I really have to say for now.
Good bye, and I hope you're all having a great day.
