Poll Will you be buying a switch 2? (83 votes)
Im curious of what people think, whether they will buy in or not. Personally im going to pass on the switch 2, unless theres a massive price drop.

GamePass or bust!! lol :P
Wasn't Microsoft bringing Gamepass to more systems?
Haven't you Herd? lol
Everything's an Xbox. ;o
Someday!! :P
No, would rather have a Steam Deck. And I don't really have any interest in a Deck.

Would Nintendo even allow it, if MS offered? Genuinely curious.
Not unless they revert there decision for 80 dollar games, I'm not supporting greedy developers.
I don't think that's really the developers' call; from what I remember, Nintendo tends to be fairly anti-consumer/anti-developer with their pricing, requiring a huge cut to use their physical cartridges as media, while making developers sign deals that if their games are digital-only, they have to be priced the same as physical games (which are more expensive).
This was a few years ago, though, things might have changed. But given how Japanese corporations tend to be fairly traditional and set in their ways, I doubt it.
@mrbojangles25: You're correct, it's not the developers fault.
I remember hearing Housemarque say they were "as surprised as gamers" when Sony announced the price for Returnal to be 70 dollars, while Housemarque was always used to selling games at a lower price.
I'll probably get one but I'm not sure when. I don't have NSO so I could not preorder. Donkey Kong and Metroid Prime 4 look like good launch games though but I have no other reasons to get Switch 2 right now.
I kind of don't want one in my house because if other people want one, I don't want to buy more, but also I don't want the kids dropping and scuffing and f***ing up the only one we have. We're all PS5'd and Steam Deck'd and Switch 1'd up. Maybe I'll be safe though, nobody has touched the OG switches in a long time.
The launch model also could be improved on so maybe it's worth waiting, but also they say the price could go up on the future.
Maybe I'll get one and then wait for a new model to come out to get another and then no more.
Yes. I don't have an issue with the price of the system. It's fine for what you get with it. I also don't have an issue with any of their games that are $70. The issue I have is with the one's that they want to charge $80 for. May wait for a discount on those.
I always say I won't buy another Nintendo console then find myself getting one a year or so in. Happened with every system since GameCube.
Definitely wouldn't be anytime soon, I can't justify spending that much or afford it. By the time I got the system, a game, a Pro controller, I feel I would've been better off getting the ASUS Rog Ally X I've been wanting or whatever other handheld PC comes out, or maybe even a Steam Deck. I'd still have full access to my overly big PC library.
Maybe. At £396 for Switch 2 and £75 for Mario Kart World, not a chance. If I can get it 10% or 15% off, or get it in HK (as long its region free), then I might do.,
Yup. Probably not on launch day but pretty close to launch (around the time DK comes out). Assuming there is stock. I'm a content whore.....damn exclusives.
I always look for 5 games to be available that I want to get on a system before I get it. I have been putting off some Switch games as I'd prefer to play them on a Switch 2. So Pikmin 3, Kirby (which is getting an expansion), Bayonetta 3, TOTK and a bunch of others. Then there is MK, DK and MP4 on top of that. So I'll have plenty to play on it.
I'm not thrilled with the prices. The system itself is not as bad as I initially thought but it's still not great. Charging for the manual is pretty crap: hopefully that's changed before launch. Game prices for what are, basically, PS4 level games are pretty poor so my purchasing will be more selective. But feck it: My Switch is 8 years old.
For those not interested in Nintendos games though: It's a much tougher system to recommend. You can get a PS5 or XSX for the same money. If you want a portable device, the LCD Deck costs less. The OLED deck does cost more but comes with a better screen and more storage. Then there are the other PC handhelds too worth looking at. More importantly though: Games will be a lot cheaper on those systems and online play and online save backups is all free.
Of course. If you have or will ever have Xeno you get bought. Does not matter the cost all that matters is the Xeno.
Was planning to skip it, even before all the hullaballoo. (Bit skeptical if I'd actually follow through)
Already felt like $60 is too much for Nintendo games.
I was considering skipping it after the 80 dollar price. But after thinking about it some more, I think I will get it before the impending trade war makes the console more expensive.
I skipped out upgrading my GPU... again, sticking with my 1070, just because the 50XX and the 90XX series just isnt worth the money. So I have PLENTY of spare cash in teh bank regardless.
In what way? It is a half ass Forza Horizon with the same lame Mario Kart gameplay that Nintendo has been milking for decades.
They are not even the same genre...
Definitely will wait, I didn't get a Switch till 2019 when Nintendo released the Switch Lite. I could see my brother getting one for his kids next year for Mario Kart World. Not in a rush to get a Switch 2.
I only ever bought Nintendo products for Pokemon, but those games just continue to be unappealing to me these days. I miss the good ol' days of 2d sprites. Or when you could just start your mission within minutes, but now you're forced to watch "cut-scenes".
Mario has been boring since Mario 64, IMO. Now I have no reason to buy Nintendo consoles. I have my SteamDeck to play on the go now. Not even their exclusive FromSoft title would get me to purchase their new console. The previous one just sat on a shelf, like most people I know.
Probably not, not for lack of want, but these Trump tariffs, no way. Not to mention game prices. I don't think Nintendo is being greedy there. But this IMO all comes down to costs of physical production of games, and the game media needing higher capacity cards with higher data transfer rates. If they wanna charge up the ass on physical, fine. But keep digital cheap. Perhaps they'll reassess going forward.
What's crazy about idea of having a $700 USD Switch 2 is it will no doubt be due to Trump's stupid tariffs, but the gaming world has to be the most clueless cesspool of brainwaste, I've been seeing YouTube videos galore where people aren't the least bit convinced this has anything to do with Trump's tariffs and everything to do with Nintendo's greed... like what rock you've been living under.
Anyhoo, these tariffs will affect almost all hardware, so Nintendo is not alone there. And most likely many things US consumers want/need will go up substantially in price (food, gas, clothes, appliances, cars, etc), all at a time employers start laying people off en masse, and at a time when assistance programs people might need are on the chop block. Gaming stuff might be the last thing on people's minds. If I need an escape to block out the anxieties of the world, I have a healthy blacklist that can keep me busy for years. Shee'yit, I still got lots of normal Switch stuff I still need to knock out by itself. Good time to make most of Game Pass Ultimate and PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium.
I literally couldn't get a pre order on any retailer tried everywhere and out of stock. Probably get one in the next wave if I'm lucky.
@TheEroica: yeah I'm conflicted about it. On one hand, I do want to play some of my switch 1 backlog titles, and get in on metroid prime. On the other hand, the price is ridiculous, and $80 per game...yeah its pretty hard to stomach. It does have some amazing features though...the mouse control is genius lol. Really shows how nintendo is innovating even today. I was watching some youtube videos, and theres a real use case for it, like playing AoE, and other traditionally pc games on consoles suddenly becomes enjoyable. Even FPS games are more fun.
Still, the price is too damn high lol.
For sure, but debating if Day 1 or wait until Holidays. The $80 Mario Kart was certainly a surprise. Holidays might have better bundles/deals.

The mouse feature was already established by the Lenovo Legion Go a year ago. It's a very cool feature especially for mouse and keyboard style pc games. I'd hope that all portables are thinking on this idea down the road.
The big equalizer for me is that while I enjoy some Nintendo franchises I don't enjoy them all. I was rabbid for the switch because it was bringing Skyrim and Witcher 3 to portables. Handheld pc does that and more at similar pricing.
I think for me it's a waiting game. Let's see what makes switch standout from the other options and decide later. I'm flooded with content always.

Yeah, I was debating getting a Steam Deck over the Switch 2, but the Switch 2 matching it features-wise for the most part just made feel like I might as well get the Switch 2.

I'm in the same boat about the recently announced Samsung SSDs: 9100 Pro
No idea if the holidays will have them cheaper, or more expensive. Unsure what the future will bring.
