What difficulty do you prefer to play on your first play through of a game?

Imagine playing Ragnarok on normal. You can literally button mash to victory without the need of doing deep strats. Eww.

Normal.

Unless is a figthing game (max difficulty for those) or i'm really loving the game (Bayonetta), i'm not going to bother with harder difficulties, i don't have the time nor the patience anymore.

@hardwenzen: you can more or less on give me no mercy tbh, as far as challenge goes its been disappointing

I bet. All i heard from reviewers is that the game is too easy when played on normal. On gmgow that shit is crazy now. It started out way too easy compared to the original, but now its pretty sweaty.

Most modern games I'll play on Normal. If it's made to be hard (like Ninja Gaiden, for example), I'll bump it down to easy. Stuff like Battletoads I need a rewind feature, LOL. How anyone beat that game on the original system, I'll never know. If I'd purchased it at full price as a kid I would have been ticked, I wouldn't have been able to get past the second level.

Usually normal but considering going to hard.

If I end up getting a game I don’t like, I’ll knock it down to easy just to move on.

Normal, and if I love a game, I'll go back and do what it takes to get all of the achievements/trophies. Like The Last of Us was one of those labors of love for me because I'm awful at multiplayer.

Always normal and then Hard on a new game.

Usually play games one below the hardest or one above normal.

Prime example of my preference: God of War Ragnarok. playing on "Give me no Mercy" difficulty. Give me God of War is just too insane but give me balance too easy
