(well I've sorta been in 2 minor ones) I'm 17, and at my school there aren't many girls in my class that I find to be very attractive either personality wise or look wise. i feel your pain. im not claiming to be a councillor, but this is my 2 cents on the matter.

try to have some sort of outlet to give you confidence. e.g. a sport. or drama class or whatever you do wherever you're from.

don't try and be cool. there is nothing more obvious than that, and also nothing that will lose you more respect. do what you want, and people will (gradually) begin to respect you for being who you are. this is a fact, but you must remember, that not everyone can love you, there is no one in your school or whatever, that is not hated/disliked by someone. you cannot please everyone. it took me a long time to realise this, so if somebody hates you, you're just like everybody else

don't sit there feeling sorry for yourself. i did that for too long. i know its tough not to, but it does not help anything at all. if you do that, you have only yourself to blame for your misery

dont hate yourself, be proud etc. this sounds stupid, but it is nearly impossible for the majority of people to dislike someone who is content in themselves.

if you're overweight, losing weight will give an enormous confidence boost, maybe start lifting weights as well. i suggest these as an outlet to help you get by. www.scoobyworkshop.com if you're interested in that.
