Hopefully, maybe they had this all planned out to give XIII-2 the ending that they did. I think SE tried to make it obvious that they would add a third game to the XIII series.
I'm enjoying the XIIIs but even still no other FF has had treatment like this with 2 sequels. Some other entires in the series got one sequel or spin-offs but those were usually after they'd had the acclaim to warrant such actions.Â
Agreed. I'm happy to see Lightning back at the helm, some of the gameplay changes, and I like the idea of different outfits being different roles. Reminds me of X-2's dresspheres which although was fan serviced it was a cool take on the classic job systems.
No worries, I understand and get that. They need to meet their quota anyway. SE planned to sell 10 million units with the XIII saga and they're at about 9 mil between the first two games so they'll hit their quota. Maybe thats like their mark for a saga cause X and X-2 sold over 10 mil combined.
I'm interested to see why exactly the world is in peril of ending in 13 days time and also whether or not we'll see the return of Bhunivelze. I find the fact that Hope named the second Cocoon after him and his important role in XIII a possible sign that he may make an appearance in LR. It seems to somewhat make sense now that Valhalla and Pulse have merged plus Etro, Pulse, and Lindzei are all pretty much dead/asleep/gone.

it's in the main story, but if you pay attention to that scene you will notice, it's in Sunleth when they fight those flans or whatever they are called

I'm kinda interested to see what all happens with the characters in the game. They said not only will it be the end for the XIII saga but its also supposed to be a happy ending for Lightning.
Lightning is our goddess, outfit changing heroine. Hope will be directing her and aiding her via com. Snow and Noel are both set to return. Sazh, Fang, and Vanille could easily come back. Considering Lightning is supposed to get a happy ending I wouldn't be surprised if Serah comes back as well. Then they also have that new character that kinda looks like Serah whatever her name was. For some reason I'm kinda thinking she'll end up being like some kind of composite of Serah and Yuel and then we'll get them both back. Noel will be with Yuel, Snow will be with Serah, and Lightning will be with Hope and they'll all save the world :PÂ

I'm really hoping that Hope and Lightning end up together. I know its shipping and probably kinda stupid but now that I think about it all the FFs or at least since VII don't the heroes all have a clear love interest(s)? Lightning doesn't exactly have that and I vote for Hope. Plus, its kinda funny since when they met he was 14 and she was 21. Now by the series twisted universe he's 24 and she's 21 :P
I liked the whole story behind the fal'cie but I dont think they should return but more like Lightning said with the gods who created them returning. In my opinion I think if you go further into a story you need to go further in depth.

I agree with both of you. The key to keeping a story going is depth but expansion also helps too. We need to know more about the world and characters but expansion through new abilities or places can also be helpful. Then again that could be considered depth too probably, whatever I'm agreeing :P
XIII-2's cliffhanger is kind of inexcusable. Who ends a game by saying to be continued? Will all that happens in the end, all the uncertainty still around the events and they simply say to be continued. I say that's poorly done and for such a BIG cliffhanger LR better be a BIG finale.Â
Masss Effect 2 had that kind of ending, and it's probably my favorite game tied with FFX. Halo 2 had it. A lot of big games have it, i don't really mind it as long as they answer questions
Those are all great games. I'm not saying they shouldn't have cliffhangers in games, just that XIII-2 had too much uncertainlty or things happening suddenly at the end that just took it over the top. Also, the to be continued shouldn't be used with games. They are usually used for TV shows or movies when the next episode or film already has a planned date of release. Don't do that with a video game which likely won't see a follow up for 1-3 years.
It was known that Mass Effect 2 was going to have a cliff hanger since it was planned as a trilogy. Halo 2 ending was also planned. As for XIII I'm not sure whether it's planned or pulled out of their ass.
I've wondered that for awhile as well with XIII. I thought the whole idea at first was making different games in the same mythos with Versus and Agito but instead it's turned into XIII: The Lightning Saga, Japan exclusive Type-0, and Versus or maybe its XV now. Regardless there seems to be no clear plan of action for the series anymore. I worry for the future of the franchise and the company. I enjoy the XIIIs but even still there is much uncertainty and concern surrounding the future.
I think I'd agree on both points. Hopefully they work back to their previous glory and that they plan better in the future. Get your house in order Square and listen to what your fans have to say.

Aren't they one in the same now? So does it really matter if Square Enix is reffered to as Square or Enix, then again since Final Fantasy started with Square soft I guess you would be correct, it is Enix'x fault ;)

I would blame Enix, but their flagship RPG is in a better shape than Square's.Â

Ah, I've heard of that at least. I thought that's what it might be but I wasn't sure and couldn't even remember if that was even the name of the series. I've never played a Dragon Quest game :P
It's a great series my favorite is Dragon Quest VIII. If you have a DS/3DS SE released IX along with some older titles. Only problem for me was how hard it was to find them sometimes.
