Total War Developer Making Halo Wars 2

The sequel to the real-time strategy game is coming next fall.

After many years, Halo Wars is getting a sequel. At its Gamescom press conference, Microsoft announced Halo Wars 2, the follow-up to the 2009 real-time strategy game. It's in development at Creative Assembly, the studio behind Alien: Isolation and the Total War series.

The first Halo Wars was developed by Ensemble Studios, which was closed following the game's release.

Microsoft only showed off a short cinematic and announced that the game is coming fall 2016 for Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. To me, this is incredibly exciting. I absolutely loved the original game, and I'm excited to see what Creative Assembly does with Halo Wars 2.

@skiggy34: Your standards must be pretty damn low then as red alert 3 I'd say is a lot better in terms of balance.

In this game it's all about gauss hog rushing and you win can do that in like less than five minutes. I gave this crappy game up years ago.

@normanislost: Mmm, I donno about that... it was one of the ONLY RTS on console, but not nearly the best imo... Command and Conquer had some greats, and the original Starcraft is also available. I think Halo was one of the worst RTS's on console, but still an okay game in it's own right.

@nl_skipper: there was actual a lot of rts games on 360. Halo wars, supreme commander, c&c, universe at war, battle for middle earth 2 and warhammer mark of chaos are ones I can think of. Halo wars was probably the best one though.

@nl_skipper: oh yeah CnC was just the first thing that came to mind, back in the PS1 days I had warcraft 2, constructor, theme hospital, theme park, Dune and a crap load more all very good ports and worked ok with a pad (although now with my extensive KB+M experience I don't know if I could handle it anymore)

@normanislost: PS1 have CnC, Starcraft, Warcraft 2 and Dune 2? Wow did not know that. I have them on PC, in original boxes no less, only joined the console scene back in 08.

@ghost140: Sega isn't pulling the strings this time (which is why Rome 2 was a total **** up, Sega needed the money so let the game release) so it'll be interesting to see what they do

@normanislost: Yea I'm not buying that, CA is as responsible for their products as Sega is. CA is a much a part of that partnership as Sega is, so I don't think it's fair to place all the blame on the publisher, when the developer themselves clearly made some poor choices with the recent TW titles.

@nl_skipper: From what I am seeing and have seen CA is turning themselves around, they aren't as they used to be, but Attila really learned from the mistakes of Rome 2. Will just have to wait and see with them, Creative Assembly still has really talented people, they just need to get it together and listen to fans.

Just when I thought I wasn't getting an Xbox One...I loved the first Halo Wars, met one of my best friends over Xbox Live in that game. It was so much fun to play online, and the cutscenes were just amazing. Sequel news makes me very happy

the showstopper, the, oh, we have 1 more thing to show, is a CGI teaser for Halo Wars 2. this is too much

Quantum Break looked interesting and Scalebound looked like it could be fun when it was above 15fps. Selling Halo 5 with teleprompter fed shoutcasters commentating a pre-recorded highlights package was an awful idea. You have a good game, stop trying to force the esports angle.

At first, Bungie didn't like Halo Wars but Halo Wars did well on a consoles that is Xbox 360 and seeing Halo Wars 2 is a big surprise for me so this is on my radar.
